Ethereum is a global, open-source platform for decentralized applications. Smart contracts are self-executing programs written in Solidity that automatically carry out agreements when conditions are met, eliminating intermediaries like banks or brokers.   Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. The asset is increasingly adopted by traditional institutions, with publicly traded companies adding ETH to corporate treasuries to generate staking yields while maintaining blockchain exposure, and in 2024, the SEC approved spot Ethereum ETFs, allowing traditional investors to gain exposure through conventional brokerage accounts.  Ethereum's roadmap focuses on dramatically increasing transaction capacity to over 100,000 per second, reducing confirmation times, and enhancing decentralization while maintaining security against future threats like quantum computing.

HP Inc. (HPQ) shares declined in Thursday’s after-hours trading after the company’s fiscal Q1 2025 earnings came in roughly in line with&nbsp;or slightly below expectations. While HP maintained its full-year guidance, investors reacted to a lackluster Q2 profit outlook that suggested near-term challenges.The Palo Alto, California-based company’s adjusted earnings per share (EPS) declined year over year (YoY), and revenue witnessed a modest 2.4% growth.&nbsp;Here’s how the key financial and operating metrics compare with the consensus and the prior year period:<ul style="list-style-type:circle;"><li>Adjusted EPS: $0.74 vs. last year’s $0.81 and in line with the Finchat-compiled consensus</li><li>Revenue: $13.5 billion vs. last year’s $13.2 billion and $13.35-billion consensus</li><li>Non-GAAP operating margin: 7.3% Vs. last year’s 8.4%</li></ul>The bottom line surrounded the company’s guidance of $0.70-$0.76.HP said it generated a free cash flow of $0.1 billion for the fourth quarter.CEO Enrique Lores said, “We are pleased with our Q1 performance, achieving revenue growth for the third straight quarter.”The executive said the progress was fueled by a strong commercial business in Personal Systems and momentum in its key growth areas, including artificial intelligence (AI) PCs.Personal Systems revenue rose 5% YoY to $9.2 billion, with a 10% increase in commercial net revenue helping to offset the 7% decline in consumer business. Total PC units sold fell 1%.Printing revenue declined 2% to $4.3 billion.CFO Karen Parkhill said, “In Q1 we drove solid progress against our financial commitments for the year and are raising our Future Ready savings target from $1.6 to $1.9 billion dollars by the end of fiscal year 2025.”In a 8-K filing the SEC, HP said it expects incremental workforce reductions of about 1,000 to 2,000 following the amendment to the restructuring plan.&nbsp;HP first announced the restructuring initiatives in Nov. 2022 amid the macroeconomic uncertainties that clouded the demand outlook. It initially aimed to eliminate about 7,000 employees.Looking ahead, HP said it expects second-quarter non-GAAP EPS of $0.75-$0.85, compared to the $0.85 per share consensus estimate.The full-year adjusted EPS was maintained at $3.45 to $3.75, surrounded the $3.59 per share average analysts’ estimate. The company expects to generate free cash flow of $3.2 billion to $3.6 billion for the year.The company said the guidance reflected additional costs driven by the current U.S. tariff increases on China and associated mitigations. (HPQ) saw subdued performance in Wednesday’s premarket trading after the computers and peripherals maker announced&nbsp;an acquisition to deepen its artificial intelligence (AI) focus.The Palo Alto, California-based company said late Tuesday it has agreed to acquire key AI capabilities from Humane, Inc. for $116 million The latter is a consumer electronics company known for its AI Pin, a futuristic wearable device, and was founded by ex-Apple, Inc. (AAPL) engineer Imran&nbsp;Chaudhri and his wife, Bethany Bongiorno.The agreement also provides for the purchase of Humane’s AI-powered platform Cosmos, technical talent, and intellectual property, with more than 300 patents and patent applications.Citing an HP spokesperson, a Bloomberg report <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-02-18/hp-116-million-deal-for-humane-includes-ip-but-no-ai-pin-device">said </a>the deal will not include Humane's devices business, which will be wound down.HP said the&nbsp;deal advances its transformation into a more experience-led company.Tuan Tran, president of Technology and Innovation at HP, said, “This investment will rapidly accelerate our ability to develop a new generation of devices that seamlessly orchestrate AI requests both locally and in the cloud.”Humane engineers, architects, and product innovators, including its co-founders, will join the Tran-led unit and form HP IQ, the company’s new AI innovation lab focused on building an intelligent ecosystem across its products and services for the future of work.The deal is expected to close at the end of February.Humane’s AI Pin was launched in November 2023 and was marketed as a potential replacement for a smartphone, although without a screen. HP Announces $116M Deal To Buy AI Pin Maker Humane’s Technology & Assets: Retail Mood Improves

 The company said the purchase of Humane’s assets and technology advances its transformation into a more experience-led company

Fox Corp. (FOXA) stock rose Tuesday afternoon after the New York-based news, sports and entertainment company announced better-than-expected fiscal year 2025 second-quarter results.The company reported second-quarter adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.96, sharply higher than the $0.34 earned a year ago, and the $0.64 consensus estimate, according to Yahoo Finance.Revenue rose 20% year over year (YoY) to $5.08 billion versus the $4.82 billion average analysts’ estimate. Advertising revenue climbed 21% to $2.42 billion, thanks to higher political advertising revenues, higher MLB post-season ratings and NFL pricing, continued digital growth led by the Tubi AVOD service, and stronger news ratings and pricing.Fox said its affiliate revenue rose a more modest 6% due to 9% growth in the Television segment and 4% in cable network programming.Business segment-wise break-up showed cable network revenue rising about 31% to $2.17 billion and television revenue increasing 16.5% to $2.96 billion.Quarterly adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization jumped 123% to $431 million.Fox Chair and CEO&nbsp; Lachlan Murdoch said, “A compelling fall sports schedule combined with a record-breaking presidential election news cycle resulted in second-quarter results that reflect the strength and breadth of FOX.”“Whether measured in terms of engagement, monetization or profitability, our focused strategy of live news and sports programming, coupled with our growing digital initiatives, continues to deliver.”Fox declared a dividend of $0.27 per Class A and Class B share, payable on March 26 to shareholders of record as of March 5. Fox Stock Jumps After Political Ad Spending, Live Sports Coverage Boost Q2 Results: Retail Turns Upbeat

CEO Lachlan Murdoch said the company’s focused strategy of live news and sports programming, coupled with its growing digital initiatives, continues to deliver.

New York-based news, sports, and entertainment company Fox Corp. (FOXA) is scheduled to report its fiscal year 2025 second-quarter results at 8 a.m. ET on Tuesday, with the earnings call set to start half an hour later.&nbsp;The consensus second-quarter estimates for top- and bottom-line results are $0.64 and $4.82 billion, respectively, according to Yahoo Finance database. This compares to the $0.34 and $4.23 billion reported for the year-ago quarter and $1.45 and $3.56 billion reported for the previous quarter.The first quarter’s 11% year-over-year revenue growth was aided by a 6% increase in affiliate fees ($1.84 billion) and nearly 11% advertising revenue growth ($1.33 billion). Segment-wise, cable network programming revenue climbed 15% to $1.60 billion and television revenue rose a more modest 9.7% to $1.95 billion.Quarterly earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) climbed 21% YoY to $1.05 billion.During the quarter, Fox announced that the proposed multichannel video programming distributor (MVPD) service Venu Sports in collaboration with Walt Disney Co.’s (DIS) ESPN and Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (WBD), was shelved.&nbsp;In late January, MoffettNathanson downgraded&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/FOXA">Fox stock</a> to ‘Buy’ from ‘Neutral’ but nudged up the price target by a dollar to $52, TheFly reported.
