That value represents nearly four times GME’s own market capitalization.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Burry’s GME Exit Driven By Debt Concerns</h2>In a&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://substack.com/home/post/p-196464631">Substack</a> post, Burry, who predicted the 2008 financial crisis, said his “Instant Berkshire” idea no longer fits GameStop’s direction because its debt has grown too high for what he considers safe.The thesis suggests that GameStop should use the cash it raised to buy other businesses rather than just holding onto the money.&nbsp;“I sold my entire GME position. Any which way I sliced it, the Instant Berkshire thesis was never compatible with &gt;5x Debt/EBITDA, never ok with interest coverage under 4.0x.”<figure class="image"><img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/image_2_jpg_d21288a941.webp" alt="Source: Michael Burry's Substack " width="2667" height="1500"><figcaption>Source: Michael Burry's Substack&nbsp;</figcaption></figure>He said GameStop’s $56 billion offer for eBay likely represents an initial bid rather than a final agreement, and predicted that eBay’s board would reject it swiftly. He criticized the financing approach behind the proposal, saying that the deal would introduce more debt than he considers sustainable relative to eBay’s earnings.&nbsp;Burry said the strategy is not creative because it largely relies on issuing more shares or taking on debt. He also warned that a new deal could raise the value to about $65 billion, further straining the company’s finances.&nbsp;“The more likely outcome at the higher price sees leverage rise to 7.7x, a level of debt that borders on distressed and tends to strip competitiveness and innovation from such-stricken companies,” Burry said.&nbsp;Burry’s exit represents the first time he has fully liquidated a position since launching his Substack platform. “Ryan cannot be after fat to cut, if only because no amount of cut fat makes this deal work,” added Burry.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">eBay’s Improving Fundamentals</h2>Burry also said eBay is improving, with higher sales and better earnings forecasts. He added that the company is growing in collectibles and advertising, and is using AI tools to help users and sellers work more easily and effectively.&nbsp;“eBay now has eBay Live in hypergrowth mode, and collectibles is eBay’s leading category. The retailer has assembled an economic interest of about 5% in eBay through a combination of shares and derivatives.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Michael Burry’s Take On GME’s Ambitious Deal&nbsp;</h2>Reacting to speculations around a potential deal on Saturday, Michael Burry, known for predicting the 2008 financial crisis, in his&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://michaeljburry.substack.com/p/short-thoughts-may-2-2026">Substack</a> post said any full takeover would represent a dramatic leap for GameStop, given the disparity in valuation.&nbsp;&nbsp;Burry said the&nbsp;video&nbsp;game company cannot borrow much money, which&nbsp;could be a big problem. Since eBay already has&nbsp;considerable debt and is growing slowly, GameStop would probably have to raise money by issuing more shares. That would spread ownership across more shareholders and reduce Cohen’s share and control in the combined company.“I am not doubting Ryan. I think if he is doing this, he sees low hanging fruit that can be accessed easily. Not easy to see from outside his mind. I still will believe the execution risk is high, and the reward is sky-high if done right with eBay,” Burry said in his Substack chat.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/EBAY">eBay stock</a> traded over 12% higher overnight on Sunday.&nbsp;The investor added that the deal also wouldn’t help GameStop hit its financial targets as much as other options might, and it would lower the company’s value per share on paper. EBAY Stock Jumps Overnight On 20% Premium GameStop Bid — Michael Burry Sees 'Sky-High' Upside Despite Risks

Through the end of Q1, 51% of global daily active users (DAUs) have age-checked, according to Roblox.&nbsp;The firm has faced intense scrutiny over the years related to children’s safety and has faced several lawsuits from the state, following which Roblox implemented the security measures, which, according to the company, have impacted growth.&nbsp;&nbsp;“We believe growth was also tempered by greater-than-expected headwinds from our age-check rollout, which restricted on-platform communication for non-age-checked users, diluted communication for age-checked users, and slowed new user acquisition,” Roblox wrote in a letter to shareholders.&nbsp;The video-game company reported a 35% year-on-year increase to 132 million daily active users, which fell short of analysts’ estimates of 143.8 million. However, it marked the second consecutive quarterly decline.
