<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Vitalik Buterin unveiled Ethereum’s four-year roadmap focused on scaling, quantum resistance, and decentralization at Hong Kong’s Web3 Festival.</li><li>Near-term upgrades include zk-EVM rollout, higher gas limits, faster finality, smarter wallets, and improved privacy features.</li><li>The roadmap comes as institutional demand grows, with Bitmine (BMNR) making one of the largest Ethereum purchases this year.</li></ul>Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin outlined a four-year roadmap for the network at Hong Kong’s Web3 Festival on Monday, positioning Ethereum as a long-term, reliable foundation for global digital infrastructure as its native token traded near recent levels.Speaking at the event, Buterin&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.panewslab.com/en/articles/019da95c-eeab-7118-9a86-e0d7f73e43b5">explained</a> that Ethereum’s future development will focus on three core pillars, including scaling, quantum resistance, and maintaining decentralization, as the network&nbsp;evolve alongside rising institutional and real world adoption. “The goal is for Ethereum to be the chain that people can rely on,” he&nbsp;said.The Ethereum co-founder also pointed to the continued rollout of zk-EVM technology, which enables faster, cheaper transaction verification without the delays associated with optimistic rollups.&nbsp;Other planned improvements included smarter wallets through account abstraction, as well as privacy enhancements to reduce the default visibility of on-chain activity.Faster transaction finality was another key target, with Ethereum aiming to reduce confirmation times to 10-20 seconds, a significant improvement over current settlement windows.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/ethereum">Ethereum’s price</a> was trading at $2,307, down by 0.5% over the past 24 hours. While current quantum systems are not yet capable of breaking widely used cryptographic standards, Buterin warned that the timeline for such developments could be within the next decade.“We need to be ready well before that happens,” he said, referring to efforts to implement quantum-resistant cryptography across the network.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Institutional Demand Builds Around Ethereum</h2>The roadmap comes as institutional interest in Ethereum continues to build. Citizens also lowered its price target on Robinhood’s stock to $155 from $180 and on Galaxy Digital’s stock to $55 from $60. It maintained an ‘Outperform’ rating on all three. The revisions were part of the firm’s broader first-quarter (Q1) earnings preview.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Crypto Sentiment Remains Under Pressure</h2>Citizens said the market is placing too much emphasis on the current slowdown and is disregarding medium-term policy and business catalysts. However, ETHB recorded a net inflow of roughly $5.47 million, making it the only fund in the category to register positive flows during the session.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETHB/sentiment">ETHB</a> closed at $27.45 on Friday, down by 0.40%. The fund surpassed $261 million in assets under management in its first week. ETHB launched with $100 million in seed capital and has since seen inflows of around $160 million.&nbsp;Early traction has placed it among the fastest-growing Ethereum-based investment products. Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/JSeyff/status/2032204440082460707">said</a> that the staked Ethereum had reached $15.5 million in trading volume on the day of its launch. BlackRock’s ETHB Bucks Trend As Other Ethereum ETFs See Outflows

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart pointed out that BlackRock’s newly launched Ethereum exchange-traded fund recorded  $15.5 million in trading volume on the day of its launch.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Ethereum’s open interest increased simultaneously with its price as per on-chain data, as it crossed the $2300 level on Wednesday.</li><li>Historical data showed that similar spikes in open interest coincided with strong price rallies in Ethereum, according to Santiment.</li><li>It noted that BlackRock’s recent transfers, along with the rise in accumulation addresses, point to growing institutional and on-chain activity.</li></ul>Ethereum (ETH) open interest rose sharply as ETH bounced back toward the $2,300 level on Wednesday, a level of derivative positioning seen last before the February pullback.Santiment data&nbsp;showed that Ethereum open interest has been rising again this month after falling along with the price in February. Source: Stocktwits via Santiment</figcaption></figure>According to the analytics firm, a similar pattern was seen&nbsp;in early October of last year, when a large rise in open interest coincided with a large rise in ETH prices, which reached a cycle high. After that phase, both open interest and price went down. The most recent trend showed that open interest was rising again as ETH's price rose.According to Santiment, this indicated that Ethereum entered a “leveraged equilibrium zone,” where both the price and the open interest were going up at the same time. There was immediate support between $2,200 and $2,300. If momentum stays steady, the current setup could lead to a breakout squeeze.The move came after BlackRock expanded its Ethereum-focused offerings. Arkham data&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://intel.arkm.com/explorer/entity/blackrock">showed</a> that BlackRock deposited 567 BTC, worth around $41.78 million, into Coinbase and transferred $52.4 million of ETH on Tuesday.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/ethereum">Ethereum&nbsp;</a>was trading at $2,326, up by 0.5% over 24 hours.
