Polestar (PSNY) CEO Michael Lohscheller on Wednesday expressed optimism about the market pricing in cost increases due to the removal of tax credit on the purchase of EVs in the U.S.“Even after the disappearance of the tax credit, the U.S. will stay an important market for us. I also do believe that eventually, the market will price for cost increases, right? Under the new law, tax credits for the purchase of electric vehicles will expire on September 30. Nio Gets Multiple Price Target Hikes After Lowering Losses In Q2: Retail Sees Two More Great Quarters Ahead

Chinese EV maker Nio Inc.’s (NIO) management indicated during the earnings call that the company intends to deliver 150,000 vehicles in the last quarter of 2025, which would mark its highest quarterly numbers to date.“....by looking at both the demand and the supply availabilities and capacity, our Q4 target is to achieve an average of 50,000 units deliveries per month for all three brands, which means that in Q4 our quarterly delivery target combining all three brands is 150,000 units,” Nio CEO William Li said on the company’s second-quarter earnings call on Tuesday.The higher delivery expectations are spurred by the company’s new vehicle models, including the Onvo L90 and the new Nio ES8. Li noted that with the new vehicles, the company sees a market demand that is higher than what it expected before launch.While the L90 was officially launched on July 31, the ES8 was formally unveiled last month and made available for pre-orders, with user deliveries expected to begin in late September.Li also noted that the company is focusing on ramping up production for its existing models and has therefore decided not to launch or deliver any new models this year. Bank of America analyst Ming Hsun Lee raised the firm’s price target on Chinese EV maker XPeng (XPEV) after the company reiterated its goal to achieve profitability by the fourth quarter (Q4).The analyst raised the price target for the XPeng stock to $26 from $25 while keeping a ‘Buy’ rating on the shares, as per TheFly. Earlier this month, Nio said that it <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/nio-zeekr-xpeng-clock-growth-in-july-ev-deliveries-while-li-auto-takes-hit/chr3UPpRdbQ">delivered</a> 21,017 vehicles in July, including 12,675 vehicles from its premium Nio brand and 5,976 from Onvo. WeRide Receives Autonomous Driving Permit in Saudi Arabia: Retail Sees Stock Hitting $20

A full-scale commercial WeRide robotaxi service is expected to launch by the end of the year in partnership with Uber in Saudi Arabia.

China-based EV maker ZEEKR Intelligent Technology Holding Limited (ZK) on Tuesday announced that it has entered into an agreement and plan of merger with its majority shareholder and Chinese automaker Geely Automobile Holdings Limited (GELYY).<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ZK">ZK shares</a> were trading 0.11% lower in the pre-market session on Tuesday at the time of writing.As part of the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/zeekr-group-enters-into-definitive-merger-agreement-for-acquisition-transaction-302505174.html">agreement</a>, Keystone Mergersub Limited, an indirect wholly-owned unit of Geely, will merge with Zeekr, with the EV maker becoming a wholly-owned unit of Geely.Zeekr shareholders will receive $26.87 in cash per Zeekr American Depositary Share (ADS) or 12.3 newly issued Geely Shares per Zeekr ADS, which will be delivered in the form of American depositary shares of Geely.The per-ADS cash consideration represents a 3.4% discount to Zeekr ADS’s closing price on the New York Stock Exchange on Monday.If all eligible Zeekr holders elect to receive cash consideration and the privatization is conducted entirely in cash, the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www1.hkexnews.hk/listedco/listconews/sehk/2025/0715/2025071500630.pdf">total</a> cash consideration payable by Geely will be $2.4 billion. Zeekr Enters $2.4B Deal With Chinese Carmaker Geely To Go Private

U.S. auto safety regulator National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened a recall query into 27,816 of EV maker Polestar’s (PSNY) Polestar 2 vehicles over concerns that the rear-view camera display may face issues when backing.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/PSNY">PSNY shares</a> were trading 1% higher in the pre-market session.The regulator <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/inv/2025/INOA-RQ25004-15762.pdf">noted</a> that a failure to display the rear-view image when backing will increase the risk of a crash.NHTSA said that it received 109 complaints for rear-view camera failures on model year 2021 to model year 2025 Polestar 2 vehicles.Polestar had recalled certain Polestar 2 vehicles for visualization issues while backing in 2024 and again earlier this year. The company proposed to fix the issue both times via a software update.However, NHTSA received complaints from consumers stating that rear-view cameras were nevertheless continuing to fail despite the software updates.Polestar also confirmed that their software remedy did not correct the original issue.The recall query aims further to evaluate the adequacy of Polestar’s recall remedy.Swedish EV maker Polestar has three models in its global line-up, including the Polestar 2, Polestar 3, and Polestar 4. The company is planning to expand its lineup with more models, including the Polestar 5 four-door GT, the Polestar 6 roadster, and the Polestar 7 compact SUV.The company said on Thursday that its <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/polestar-reports-38-percent-jump-in-q2-retail-ev-sales/ch8G51ZR5jk">global retail sales</a> volume rose 38% year-on-year to an estimated 18,049 cars in the second quarter (Q2).
