These constructions allow the network to maintain a secure ledger of balances without disclosing the parties or amounts involved. Instead of publicly demonstrating spend-authority and transaction values, the transaction metadata is encrypted and zk-SNARKs are used to prove that nobody is cheating or stealing. The U.S. Department of Transportation on Friday said it is withdrawing or terminating $679 million in funding tied to 12 offshore wind projects.Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy called the projects “doomed” and said the decision reflects President Donald Trump’s push to redirect resources toward shipbuilding and traditional energy development. “Wasteful, wind projects are using resources that could otherwise go towards revitalizing America’s maritime industry,” Duffy said in the announcement.&nbsp;“Where possible, funding from these projects will be recompeted to address critical port upgrades and other core infrastructure needs of the United States,” the announcement added.
