Firefly Aerospace announced a commercial payload agreement with Starcloud to demonstrate AI computing capabilities in lunar orbit. Starcloud’s SC-1L computing payload will fly aboard Firefly’s Elytra orbital vehicle to test capabilities for a future data center around the Moon. The payload will process data from Firefly’s onboard Solux vision system, perform AI computing in orbit and transmit the processed data back to Earth. The demonstration is planned for Firefly’s third lunar mission, targeted for no earlier than 2028. Elytra will initially serve as a transfer and communications vehicle for Firefly’s Blue Ghost lander, which is scheduled to land at the Gruithuisen Domes under NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services initiative. After the mission, Elytra is designed to remain in lunar orbit for up to five years, supporting payload operations and imaging services for customers. $FLY

$FLY Just some thoughts on Firefly... Contracts, SciTec, Moon landings...all great. But launch is the leverage. 🚀 The Moon economy, satellites, defense, orbital computing/data centers...whatever the next space boom is, it all needs a ride to space. That’s why I think management was right not to hype Alpha dates or cadence. First prove reliability. Then scale it. Give me 4-5 successful Alpha launches in a row + improving cadence + a successful Eclipse debut. If $FLY executes, I see a path to $40-50B+ in 4-5 years...possibly much higher as the space economy grows. Fail to prove launch + cadence and $FLY risks remaining another space infrastructure/satellite company dependent on those who control access to space. That’s the bet. Prove it. $FLY Firefly opened a larger cleanroom that can help it build up to 12 Blue Ghost landers and Elytra vehicles at once. This will be huge in expanding their output.
