Workday Q4 Earnings Round The Corner: Analysts, Retail Worry About Stock’s Valuation

Workday Stock Snags Ratings Downgrade Ahead Of Next Week’s Q4 Report: Retail Stays Downbeat

Analyst Keith Weiss said he would be more constructive on the stock if growth stabilizes and accelerates back to the management’s 15% target.

Shares of Pleasanton, California-based Workday, Inc. (WDAY) rose by the mid-session on Wednesday after the company announced a restructuring program that includes a plan to eliminate 8.5% of its workforce.&nbsp;The enterprise platform provider that helps organizations manage money and manpower said the restructuring aims to prioritize its investments and continue its focus on durable growth.The company said it is cutting about 1,750 positions and expects to exit certain owned office space. However, it also clarified that it would continue to hire in key strategic areas and locations throughout the fiscal year 2025, which ends on Jan. 31, 2026. The planned actions will likely be completed by the second quarter of fiscal year 2026.Workday said it would incur about $230 million to $270 million in charges related to the plan, with $60 million to $70 million expected to be recognized in the fourth quarter.&nbsp;Additionally, the company expects to report fiscal year 2025 and fourth quarter results in line with or above the guidance provided in late November, except for the GAAP operating margin.&nbsp;Workday’s guidance calls for subscription revenue of $2.05 billion for the fourth quarter and $7.703 billion for the full year. Subscription revenue&nbsp;accounts for over 90% of the company’s total revenue.Due to the restructuring plan, the fourth-quarter GAAP operating margin is now expected to be 22-23&nbsp;percentage points lower than the non-GAAP operating margin. Workday Stock Rallies After Company Announces Workforce Reduction, Reaffirms Q4 Guidance: Retail’s Extremely Bullish

Workday said it plans to eliminate 8.5% of its workforce but clarified that it would continue hiring in key strategic areas and locations throughout the fiscal year 2025. 

Western Digital Corp. (WDC) shares climbed sharply early on Thursday after the storage devices solutions provider’s positive commentary about an impending spin-off managed to outweigh mixed quarterly results.The San Jose, California-based company reported fiscal 2025 second-quarter non-GAAP earnings per share (EPS) of $1.77, slightly shy of the $1.78 per share consensus estimate, but marked a reversal from the $0.75 per share loss incurred in the year-ago quarter.Revenue climbed 41% year-over-year to $4.29 billion, exceeding the consensus estimate of $4.26 billion.Earlier this month, the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/western-digital-stock-slips-after-storage-devices-company-preannounces-q2-earnings-shortfall/chGv8vsRnr">company&nbsp;offered a preview of the bottom-line results&nbsp;</a>at the low end of the guidance range of $1.75-$2.05, and revenue at the midpoint of the $4.20 billion to $4.40 billion guidance range.Western Digital said its cloud revenue climbed 119% YoY and 6% sequentially to $2.35 billion and client revenue rose 4% YoY but slipped 3% from the previous quarter to $1.17 billion. Consumer revenue moved down 8% YoY to $771 million.The company guided third-quarter non-GAAP EPS to $0.90-$1.20 and revenue to $3.75 billion to $3.95 billion.
