It is now the fourth-best-performing S&amp;P 500 stock this year.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Seagate Receives Big Price Target Bump After Q1</h2>Following the quarterly results released after the market closed on Tuesday, Baird analyst Tristan Gerra lifted the price target for the stock to $270 from $188, implying 21% upside from its Monday’s closing price of $223.&nbsp;Baird retained an ‘Outperform’ rating and kept the company among its top three large-cap ideas, citing secular margin expansion and free cash flow (FCF) generation, strong artificial intelligence (AI)-related demand, and the company's overall fundamental transformation away from commoditized offerings.Gerra noted that margin expansion is ongoing, with the fiscal-year 2026 first-quarter margin exceeding the 50% target due to the pace of customer qualification and contract signing. He noted that revenue per terabyte (TB) has remained stable over the past several quarters despite a significant shift in the mix toward higher-capacity drives.The management did not provide any indication of alleviation of current supply/demand imbalances for the next four quarters, with supply growth ahead contingent on the migration to Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR)-based, higher-capacity drives and no plans for unit capacity increases, Gerra said. Figma (FIG) shares&nbsp;surged&nbsp;in their Nasdaq debut on Thursday, marking a&nbsp;strong&nbsp;public market entry for the design and collaboration software firm nearly two years after its planned $20 billion acquisition by Adobe (ADBE) was abandoned.<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/FIG">Figma’s stock</a> opened at&nbsp;$102&nbsp;and rose as much as&nbsp;200% from its IPO price of $33 per share. The offering raised $19.8 billion for the company by selling 36.9 million shares, just shy of the valuation Adobe had offered in its canceled acquisition and amounting to nearly 12% of the 40-year-old design giant’s current market valuation.On Stockwits, the newly listed company already had over 6,000 watchers, and retail sentiment rose within ‘extremely bullish’ territory over the past day. It was second-highest trending ticker on the platform at the time of writing.Led by CEO Dylan Field, Figma enters the public market with a growing revenue base and early profitability, according to its&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1579878/000162828025036090/figmas-1a2.htm">filings</a> with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).&nbsp; In 2024, the company generated $749 million in revenue, up 48% year-over-year. It reported $228.2 million in revenue and net income of $44.9 million in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025.Preliminary results for the second quarter (Q2), disclosed ahead of the IPO, show projected operating income of $9 million to $12 million on revenue between $247 million and $250 million. Margins ticked up to between 4% and 5%, compared to 3% a year earlier.In its filings, Figma also said it had authorized the issuance of “blockchain common stock” in tokenized form, though it said it has no immediate plans to pursue such a structure. Data storage devices company Seagate Technology Holdings plc.’s (STX) quarterly results, announced late Tuesday, triggered an adverse reaction from investors.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/STX">Seagate stock</a> was down over 6% in overnight trading at last check.Notwithstanding the stock drop, retail watchers on the Stocktwits platform&nbsp;remained ‘bullish’ (73/100), with the degree of bullishness improving from the previous day. The results beat the Fiscal.ai-compiled consensus of $2.44 and $2.42 billion, respectively.Seagate CEO Dave Mosely said, “Seagate’s strong FQ4 performance underscores our commitment to profitable growth, marked by a 30% year-over-year revenue increase, record gross margin, and non-GAAP EPS expanding to the top of our guidance range.”The executive attributed the strength to the structural enhancements implemented in the company’s business and ongoing demand strength from cloud customers for its high-capacity drives.The company announced board approval for a quarterly cash dividend of $0.72 per share, payable on Oct. 9, to shareholders of record as of Sept. 30.&nbsp;For the first quarter, Seagate expects adjusted EPS of $2.30, plus or minus $0.20, and revenue of $2.50 billion, plus or minus $150 million. This compares to the consensus estimates of $2.32 and $2.53 billion, respectively.At the midpoint, the guidance,&nbsp;particularly the top-line outlook, was largely in line with the consensus.Commenting on the results, Baird analyst Tristan Gerra said Seagate continues to emphasize profitability over market share, and is on a rapid path to achieve a gross margin greater than 40%.Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR), a hard drive tech designed to increase data storage capacity, remains on track to generate 40% of nearline Exa Byte (EB) shipments by the end of this year, the analyst said.&nbsp;The analyst stated that the “stock overreaction” was unwarranted, with the muted revenue growth embedded in the September quarter guidance solely a result of a higher-than-usual capacity diversion to HAMR qualification.&nbsp;Baird maintained an ‘Outperform’ rating on Seagate stock and also reaffirmed it as one of the firm’s “top ideas.” Gerra raised the price target for the stock to $188 from $120.Seagate’s stock has soared nearly 80% this year, and yet the forward price-earnings (P/E) multiple is a reasonable 15.8 times.
