The Cosmos network consists of many independent, parallel blockchains, called zones, each powered by classical Byzantine fault-tolerant (BFT) consensus protocols like Tendermint. Some zones act as hubs with respect to other zones, allowing many zones to interoperate through a shared hub. The architecture uses classic BFT and Proof-of-Stake algorithms, instead of Proof-of-Work. Cosmos can interoperate with multiple other applications and cryptocurrencies, something other blockchains can’t do well. By creating a new zone, you can plug any blockchain system into the Cosmos hub and pass tokens back and forth between those zones, without the need for an intermediary.  While the Cosmos Hub is a multi-asset distributed ledger, there is a special native token called the atom. ATOM have three use cases: as a spam-prevention mechanism, as staking tokens, and as a voting mechanism in governance.  As a spam prevention mechanism, ATOM are used to pay fees. The fee may be proportional to the amount of computation required by the transaction, similar to Ethereum’s concept of “gas”. Fee distribution is done in-protocol and a protocol specification is described here.  As staking tokens, ATOM can be “bonded” in order to earn block rewards. The economic security of the Cosmos Hub is a function of the amount of ATOM staked. The more ATOM that are collateralized, the more “skin” there is at stake and the higher the cost of attacking the network. Thus, the more ATOM there are bonded, the greater the economic security of the network.  Atom holders may govern the Cosmos Hub by voting on proposals with their staked ATOM.

Identity and access management company Okta, Inc.'s (OKTA) shares climbed over 5% in the early premarket session on Wednesday.The premarket rally in&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/OKTA">Okta stock</a> followed the company's quarterly report that showed adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.91 for the second quarter of fiscal year 2026, up from $0.72 in the year-ago quarter.Revenue climbed 13% year-over-year (YoY) to $728 million, with subscription revenue ($711 million) climbing 12%.The results exceeded the Fiscal.ai-compiled consensus estimates of $0.85 in adjusted EPS and $711.87 in revenue.CEO and co-founder Todd McKinnon said, “Okta’s unified identity platform is winning customers ranging from the world’s largest global organizations to massive government agencies.”“Our solid Q2 results are highlighted by continued strength in new product adoption, the public sector, Auth0, and cash flow.”Subscription backlog climbed 18% YoY to $4.152 billion.&nbsp;Okta expects third-quarter adjusted EPS of $0.74-$0.75 and revenue in the range of $728 million to $730 million, versus the consensus estimates of $0.74 and $725.78 million.The company also nudged up its full-year forecast, with the new range at $2.875 billion to $2.885 billion in revenue and $3.33 to $3.38 in adjusted EPS. The full-year outlook exceeded the consensus estimates of $2.862 billion and $3.28, respectively.On Stocktwits, retail sentiment toward Okta stock improved to ‘extremely high’ (96/100) by early Wednesday, from ‘bullish’ a day ago. (OKTA) shares fell sharply in Tuesday’s after-hours trading as the identity and access management company’s full-year revenue guidance came in slightly shy of estimates and the growth in key performance metrics cooled off. The company, however, reported quarterly top and bottom-line beats.The San Francisco, California-based company reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.86 for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026, exceeding the $0.77 Finchat-compiled consensus estimate.Revenue climbed 12% year over year (YoY) to $688 million versus the average analysts’ estimate of $680.08 million and guidance of $678 million-$680 million.Among the key user metrics, remaining performance obligations (RPO) climbed 21% YoY to $4.084 billion, slowing from the 25% growth in the previous quarter. Current RPO (cRPO), which represents subscription backlog expected to be recognized over the next 12 months, totaled $2.227 billion, exceeding the guidance.The company ended the quarter with a cash position of $2.725 billion.&nbsp;“Okta had a solid start to FY26 highlighted by record operating profit and another quarter of robust free cash flow,” said Todd McKinnon, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Okta.The company’s first quarter guidance calls for revenue of $710 million to $712 million, marking a further slowdown in the YoY growth to 10%. However, it exceeded the consensus estimate of $708.83 billion.It expects adjusted EPS of $0.83-$0.84 (consensus $0.79).Okta maintained its fiscal year revenue guidance at $2.850 billion-$2.860 billion, trailing the $2.862 billion consensus estimate.
