Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. The asset is increasingly adopted by traditional institutions, with publicly traded companies adding ETH to corporate treasuries to generate staking yields while maintaining blockchain exposure, and in 2024, the SEC approved spot Ethereum ETFs, allowing traditional investors to gain exposure through conventional brokerage accounts.  Ethereum's roadmap focuses on dramatically increasing transaction capacity to over 100,000 per second, reducing confirmation times, and enhancing decentralization while maintaining security against future threats like quantum computing.

The topline grew at a slower pace than the 20% rate reported for the first quarter. Subscription revenue ($398 million) also grew more slowly.Elastic’s cloud revenue came in at $206, rising 22% YoY versus the 20% growth in Q1, while the current remaining performance obligations (cRPO) at the end of the quarter stood at $971 million, up 17% YoY, versus the 18% growth in Q1. cRPO is the unbilled revenue from signed contracts that will likely be recognized as revenue over the next 12 months.CEO Ash Kulkarni called the quarter “outstanding.” “We beat the high end of our guidance across all metrics. Our strength was driven by robust growth across the company with AI positively impacting all areas of our business.”Among customer metrics, total customer count with annual contract value (ACV) greater than&nbsp; $100,000 rose YoY and sequentially to 1,600. Net expansion rate held steady at 112%.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Elastic’s Outlook</h2>For the third quarter, Elastic expects adjusted earnings of $0.63-$0.65 and revenue of $437 million to $439 million. The outlook was better than the consensus estimates of $0.60 and $429.94, respectively.The company raised the full-year guidance, with the new ranges as follows:-Adj. A StreetInsider report attributed the renewed interest from Datadog to leadership changes at GitLab and the company's recent strong quarterly performance.

(ESTC) shares rallied in Thursday’s extended session after the artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled search company raised its quarterly revenue guidance and announced a new stock buyback authorization.&nbsp;As part of the presentation at the Financial Analyst Day held on Thursday, CFO Navam Welihinda said the second-quarter revenue guidance is now at $417 million to $419 million, according to a transcript provided by Koyfin. While announcing the first-quarter results in late August, the company had guided revenue to a range of $415 million to $417 million. The CFO attributed the revision to improved visibility into the demand environment.The company also raised its fiscal year 2026 guidance to a range of $1.697 billion to $1.703 billion from a range of $1.679 billion to $1.689 billion, and also hiked its adjusted operating income margin target by 0.25 points to 16.25%.Separately, San Francisco-based Elastic said its board has authorized the repurchase of up to $500 million of its stock.
