She also highlighted three takeaways from the United Nations agency’s research on the impact of AI on jobs.&nbsp;While some observations are positive, Georgieva noted that some of them also worry her.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Georgieva’s Three Observations</h2>1. Massive Transformation Of Demand For SkillsBased on the agency’s research, Georgieva stated that they expect AI to affect 60% of the jobs in advanced economies, while the number is pegged at 40% globally. She expects these jobs to either be enhanced, eliminated, or transformed.“This is like a tsunami hitting the labor market,” she said.&nbsp;2. What Is Happening With Jobs?The IMF MD added that following the observations at a micro level, one in 10 jobs in advanced economies has already been enhanced by AI.This has led to higher incomes for people whose jobs have been enhanced by AI. As a result, they are spending more money, leading to increased demand for low-skill jobs.However, it’s not all rosy. Georgieva added that tasks that are eliminated because of AI are usually what jobs at the entry-level present. As a result, young people seeking jobs are finding it more difficult to secure a placement.On the other hand, the jobs that aren’t touched by AI yet are now paying less, she added. “The middle class is inevitably going to be affected,” she said.Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said during an interview at Davos this week that he has not changed his previous prediction that AI could eliminate half of white-collar jobs over the next five years.3. Where Are The Guardrails?The IMF MD expressed concerns about AI technology advancing rapidly, yet there are no guardrails to make it safe or inclusive.“My appeal is, wake up. (AAPL) has reportedly roped in hardware chief John Ternus into design work, widening his role to include him in one of the company’s most critical functions.According to a <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-01-22/apple-hardware-chief-john-ternus-now-overseeing-design-tim-cook-ceo-succession">report</a> from Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, CEO Tim Cook pulled in Ternus to manage Apple’s design teams at the end of last year.Ternus is now considered the “executive sponsor” within the company for all designs on Cook’s management team, as per the report.The expansion comes amid reports that Apple is eyeing the hardware chief to succeed Cook, if he decides to step down.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AAPL">Shares of AAPL</a> rose about 0.28% at the time of writing.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Ternus At Apple</h2>With Ternus now overseeing design, it brings the leader into the realm of software as well as hardware, a responsibility that has often been awarded only to senior leaders. The expanded role will transition to Ternus being a bridge between Apple’s design and hardware products.Ternus will not be the final decision-maker for design, as per the report. These will likely be made by consensus, as has been the norm for several years now.&nbsp;Craig Federighi, heading software engineering, is considered to influence software design substantially, while marketing head Greg Joswiak also has a strong say, as per the report. Ternus has so far been part of the process from the hardware engineering side.However, Apple’s design team heads are still reporting directly to Cook, both internally as well as in the company’s public disclosures, as per Bloomberg’s report. The arrangement that involves Ternus overseeing design teams at Apple while still having them technically report to Cook is seen as a strange arrangement by Apple’s employees, according to the report.&nbsp;Yet, it is Cook’s decision to do so, in an attempt to give Ternus increased exposure to more operations in the company, as per the people cited in the report. Despite the added responsibilities for Ternus, there are no other indicators that Cook will step down any time soon, as per the report.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Succession Plan</h2>According to an earlier <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/apple-hardware-engineering-head-john-ternus-could-be-ceo-after-tim-cook-report/cmUbg8rR45e">report</a> from The New York Times, Apple has been accelerating its succession plans for Cook since 2025, as the long-time chief has been looking to reduce his workload. Cook is likely to stay on as the chairman of Apple’s board if he decides to step down, as per the report.Ternus, the youngest member of the tech giant’s executive leadership team, is considered to be among the front-runners for the role.Apart from Ternus, Apple’s chief operating officer, Sabih Khan, is also being considered for the role, according to Bloomberg. According to a report from Bloomberg, CEO Tim Cook pulled in Ternus to manage Apple’s design teams at the end of last year.

Campos, the code name for the chatbot, will replace Siri in its current interface, the report added.The chatbot capabilities are likely to come later in the year, as per the report. Apple is looking to reveal the chatbot in June at its Worldwide Developers Conference and release it later in September, according to the people cited by Bloomberg.Shares of AAPL were up 0.39% at the time of writing.<h2 class="st-heading-2">The Campos Chatbot</h2>The move will push Apple deeper into the generative AI space, dominated by OpenAI and Google at present. The new chatbot will surpass current Siri capabilities, including a 2026 update, as per the report.Users will be able to activate the new chatbot service just as they do with Siri now, saying “Siri” or by pressing and holding the side button on their iPhone or iPad.Campos, which will support both voice and text input, will be the flagship new feature across Apple’s next-generation operating systems. Apple plans to embed it into iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, code-named Rave, as well as macOS 27, which is internally called Fizz, according to Bloomberg. Apart from the chatbot interface, Apple’s operating systems won’t see any other big changes this year.Within the company, the chatbot is being tested as a standalone Siri app, similar to ChatGPT’s and Gemini’s App Store versions. The company will not offer that to customers yet, as per the report. Instead, Campos will be integrated across its operating systems, like Siri, as per Bloomberg.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Apple’s Wearable Pin</h2>Apple is reportedly developing an AI-driven wearable pin about the size of an AirTag, featuring multiple cameras, along with a speaker, microphones, and wireless charging.The device could come to market as soon as 2027, according to a <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.theinformation.com/articles/apple-developing-ai-wearable-pin?utm_campaign=article_email&amp;utm_content=article-16439&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=sg">report</a> from The Information that cited people familiar with the project.The development is reportedly in very early stages and could potentially be canceled as well.
