The legislation unveiled on Monday by the Senate Committee would define when crypto tokens are securities, commodities or fall into other categories, giving the industry long-awaited legal clarity. It was delayed after the CEO of Coinbase withdrew support for the bill.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Coinbase Withdrew</h2><p>Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong announced the company could not support the current draft, arguing it would enact a "de facto ban" on tokenized equities and restrict stablecoin rewards.&nbsp;</p><p>In a <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/brian_armstrong/status/2011545247105355865">post</a> on X, Armstrong said “We appreciate all the hard work by members of the Senate to reach a bi-partisan outcome, but this version would be materially worse than the current status quo. (NET) announced on Thursday that it will acquire Human Native, an AI data marketplace, in a push to transform content into high-quality, AI-ready data.</p><p>The company did not disclose details of the deal value or the timeline.</p><p>The acquisition is aimed to make content discovery and access for AI developers easier and faster, and also help creators and publishers optimize how their data can be surfaced to AI companies that are willing to pay, the company <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cloudflare.com/en-in/press/press-releases/2026/cloudflare-strengthens-content-offering-to-ai-companies-with-acquisition-of-human-native/">said</a>.</p><p>Human Native will help Cloudflare build the tools needed to prepare content so AI developers “can find, access, and purchase reliable high-quality data through fair and transparent channels,” according to the company.</p><p>Shares of NET climbed 0.3% in Thursday’s after-market trading.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Leadership Commentary</h2><p>Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare said that content creators deserve full control over their work, irrespective of whether they want to write for humans or optimize for AI.</p><p>“Last year we gave publishers and creators the tools to control which bots can access their content, but the real goal has always been to help create a new economic model that actually works for the next phase of the Internet,” he said.</p><p>The Human Native acquisition is expected to help the company accelerate the next phase, to build content discovery, pricing, and purchase tools that promote transparency. “This acquisition is about building the tools needed to protect the longevity of the open internet,” he added.</p><p>“We started Human Native with the goal of getting Generative AI out of its Napster era. We believe that creators should have control, compensation and credit when their work is used to power AI products, ensuring equitable compensation for rights holders while enabling responsible AI development,” said Dr. James Smith, co-founder and CEO of Human Native.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Company Updates</h2><p>Last year, Cloudflare launched AI Crawl Control, a product that allows customers to restrict and or monetize data-scraping bots. It added that the issue has been identified and a fix has been implemented at 12:03 PM EST.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Analyst Action</h2><p>Morgan Stanley raised the firm's price target on Reddit to $265 from $250 and kept an ‘Overweight’ rating on the shares.&nbsp;</p><p>The firm thinks 2026 will be "thematically similar" to 2025 in the internet sector, with the market likely to reward companies demonstrating material positive return on invested capital (ROIC) from GenAI or GPU enabled technologies, the analyst told investors in a note, as per TheFly.&nbsp;</p><p>Evercore ISI also initiated coverage of Reddit with an ‘Outperform’ rating and $320 price target. Microsoft has also committed to minimizing its water use and to replenishing the water that it uses.</p><p>The announcement comes a day after U.S. President Donald Trump <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/trump-wants-big-tech-to-pick-up-the-tab-as-rapid-ai-datacenter-buildout-drives-up-power-bills/cmUQpzLR44b">said</a> in a social media post that his administration is working with technology giants, including Microsoft, to lower high power costs of running data centers.</p><p>Apart from this, the company also said it would create more jobs, add to the tax base for local infrastructure development, and strengthen local communities by investing in AI training and nonprofits.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Microsoft’s Commitment</h2><p>Amid rising electricity consumption for AI usage, Microsoft’s power usage plan outlined four actions—paying utility rates that fully reflect datacenter costs so households aren’t burdened; working early and transparently with utilities to expand generation, transmission, and substations; improving datacenter efficiency through innovation and AI; and advocating for policies that speed up permitting, modernize the grid, and create fair rates for large power users.</p><p>“Especially when tech companies are so profitable, we believe that it’s both unfair and politically unrealistic for our industry to ask the public to shoulder added electricity costs for AI,” <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://blogs.microsoft.com/on-the-issues/2026/01/13/community-first-ai-infrastructure/">said</a> Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith in a statement. “Instead, we believe the long-term success of AI infrastructure requires that tech companies pay their own way for the electricity costs they create,” he added.</p><p>The tech giant also said that its goal is to reduce water use for its data centers and invest in infrastructure that would help replenish more water than it uses. The company said it would work towards a 40% improvement in datacenter water-use intensity by 2030 using optimization strategies like deploying closed-loop cooling systems. Microsoft also said it plans to be water-positive by restoring more water to local watersheds than its data centers consume.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Trump’s Comments</h2><p>President Trump said on Monday on Truth Social, “I never want Americans to pay higher Electricity bills because of Data Centers. Vistra Soars After Hours As It Acquires Cogentrix Energy For $4B

The company now makes and designs high-power electronic components and subsystems for the aerospace and defense markets. It is expected to generate about $300 million in revenue for the calendar year 2025.</p><p>TransDigm CEO Mike Lisman <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/transdigm-announces-acquisition-of-stellant-systems-inc-302651043.html">said</a> that the transaction is aimed at adding more products and services to its portfolio. The company currently designs, produces and supplies aircraft components for use on nearly all commercial and military aircraft in service today. &nbsp;</p><p>“As with all TransDigm acquisitions, we expect this acquisition to create equity value in-line with our long-term private equity-like return objectives," Lisman added. The closing of the transaction will be subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.</p><p>According to TransDigm, Stellant’s proprietary components have a strong presence across major aerospace and defense platforms and nearly all of the company's revenue is generated from proprietary products.
