Eli Lilly and Company (LLY) announced on Tuesday that its oral weight-loss drug candidate Orforglipron delivered significant weight loss, meaningful average blood glucose reduction, and improvements in cardiometabolic risk factors at 72 weeks in a late-stage trial.At the highest dose of 36 mg, Orforglipron, taken once per day without food and water restrictions, lowered weight by an average of 10.5% compared to 2.2% with placebo, the company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://investor.lilly.com/news-releases/news-release-details/lillys-oral-glp-1-orforglipron-successful-third-phase-3-trial">said</a>. The most commonly reported adverse events were gastrointestinal-related and generally mild-to-moderate in severity.The company noted that 6.1% to 10.6% of participants in the study discontinued treatment across doses due to adverse events, as compared to 4.6% with placebo. Overall treatment rates were between 19.1% to 20.5% in patients who received the oral weight loss drug, as compared to 20% with placebo.With Orforglipron, Lilly is attempting to expand its impact in the obesity treatment market dominated by GLP-1 injections. Orforglipron was discovered by Chugai Pharmaceutical Co. and licensed by Lilly in 2018. AbbVie (ABBV) on Monday announced that it will acquire Gilgamesh Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s lead investigational candidate Bretisilocin, which is currently in clinical development for treating patients with moderate-to-severe major depressive disorder (MDD).Under the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://news.abbvie.com/2025-08-25-AbbVie-to-Acquire-Gilgamesh-Pharmaceuticals-Bretisilocin,-a-Novel,-Investigational-Therapy-for-Major-Depressive-Disorder,-Expanding-Psychiatry-Pipeline">deal</a>, AbbVie will acquire Gilgamesh's Bretisilocin program for up to $1.2 billion. This is inclusive of an upfront payment and development milestones, the company said.Bretisilocin is a novel, psychedelic compound. Eli Lilly has increased the price of its popular weight loss drug Mounjaro in the U.K. by as much as 170%, The Financial Times reported on Thursday.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As per the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.ft.com/content/b71a1c59-2735-4ec8-b895-59c562edeeac">report</a>, the price for a month’s supply of the highest doses of the drug will rise from £122 ($165) to £330, an increase of 170%, while prices for lower doses will rise by between 45% and 138%, starting in September. According to the Financial Times, the price for a month’s supply of the highest doses of the drug will rise from £122 to £330, an increase of 170%.

(AAPL) is planning a slew of products, including robots, a lifelike version of Siri, a smart speaker with a display, and home-security cameras, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.The tabletop robot, resembling an iPad mounted on a movable limb that can follow users in a room, is targeted for 2027, the report said.
