This process ensures the ledger maintains immutability, meaning records cannot be changed once they are saved to the global network.  Created by former Google engineer Charlie Lee, the project is supported by the Litecoin Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to ecosystem adoption. Unlike many venture-backed projects, it is maintained by a decentralized community of independent developers and a global network of miners. The project has seen recent institutional adoption, with entities like Lite Strategy and Luxxfolio Holdings adding significant amounts of LTC to their corporate treasuries as of late 2025.

Goldman Sachs Says Bear Market Unlikely Despite Geopolitical Tensions, AI Concerns, And High Valuations: Report

According to a report from Reuters, the investment bank has said that it sees the correction risks in the market as a buying opportunity.

Meanwhile, inflation in December came in at 2.7%.Fed officials are widely expected to hold interest rates steady at the next policy meeting slated for March 17-18. Data from the <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">CME FedWatch</a> tool indicates a 97.3% probability that the central bank will hold benchmark interest rates at the current target range of 3.50% to 3.75%.Speaking about the impact of artificial intelligence, Schmid reportedly said while he believes AI and other technologies will ultimately lead to non-inflationary growth, the country was still not “there yet.”While the Kansas City Fed chief said the labor market was in balance, he noted the imbalance in the healthcare sector. Schmid said that high demand for health-care workers amid an aging population would continue to pressure profit margins in that industry, which could push inflation higher up.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Market Reaction</h2>The conflict in the Middle East after the U.S. and Israel launched military strikes on Iran over the weekend has stoked inflation concerns across the country. Fed’s Jeff Schmid Says Apex Bank Does Not Have Room To Be ‘Complacent’ About Inflation: Report

According to a Bloomberg report, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City chief Jeff Schmid said on Tuesday that inflation in the U.S. has been above the Fed’s target for almost five years. 

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>HSBC also said that the historic valuations for software companies come at a time when the sector is poised to expand massively, according to TheFly.&nbsp;</li><li>HSBC noted that enterprise software companies have been "doing the heavy lifting” with regard to AI agents.</li><li>HSBC has a ‘Buy’ rating on multiple software companies, including Oracle (ORCL), Salesforce (CRM), CrowdStrike (CRWD), ServiceNow (NOW), and Palantir (PLTR).</li></ul>HSBC on Tuesday expressed its bullish stance on enterprise software, saying valuations are at "historic lows” for companies in the sector even as mounting fears over new artificial intelligence (AI) tools have caused selloffs in recent weeks.The firm said to investors in a research note titled ‘Software Will Eat AI’ that enterprise software companies "will not be threatened by AI." Michael Burry Cites This Interesting Thought Experiment From Citrini Research On AI – Says, 'And You Think I’m Bearish'

‘The Big Short’ Investor shared a post from Citrini Research about a thought experiment detailing how AI agents would impact the world economy in the future.

As a result, the expenditure does not weigh down on the bottom line of the companies all at once.“Most of the companies shown packaged their FY’26 capex forecasts with FY’26 profit forecasts so investors could see the current year impact on profits,” Black said.For his third point, Black said eventually tech CEOs would see that the capex splurge would not pay off as the return on investment would fall short over everyone’s bet on the same play.“There will be an awakening by tech CEOs that much of this capex splurge won’t pay off — i.e., ROI will fall short of the cost of capital — as everyone is betting on the same AI payoff, and not everyone will win,” he said.“Once this realization occurs future capex plans will be scaled back,” Black added.Black also said that Google parent Alphabet Inc. (GOOG, GOOGL) and Meta Platforms Inc. (META) both looked compelling at their current price-to-earnings ratio.“$GOOG at a 2026 P/E of 28x vs 20% long-term eps growth (1.4x PEG) and $META at a 2026 P/E of 22x vs +18% EPS growth (1.2x PEG) both look compelling here,” he said.<h2 class="st-heading-2">AI Capex Spending</h2>In its latest earnings, Amazon.com (AMZN) said it will allocate $200 billion to capital expenditure in 2026. Meanwhile, Alphabet guided its capex for 2026 between $175 billion and $185 billion, well above street expectations of $120 billion.Meta increased its capex for 2026, quoting a range of $115 billion to $135 billion, up considerably from $72.22 billion spent in 2025.While the larger market has expressed concerns over the massive expenditure, CEO of Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) Jensen Huang <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/nvda-shares-rally-as-huang-says-demand-for-ai-is-sky-high/cZbFYwgR4Fp">said</a> earlier on Friday that these investments are “appropriate and sustainable.”In a CNBC interview, he noted that the demand for AI is now skyrocketing during a “once-in-a-generation infrastructure buildout,” adding that the companies are going to see a positive impact to their cash flows.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Market Reaction</h2><a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/GOOG">Shares of GOOG</a> closed down almost 2.5% on Friday, and have gained over 67% in the past year. San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank President and CEO Mary Daly said in a LinkedIn post that while businesses are cautiously optimistic about America's economic outlook, workers feel differently.

However, the Department of Homeland Security has received an extension for funding only through Feb. 13.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Was The Shutdown About?</h2>The partial shutdown that began on Saturday was over Democrats objecting to the killing of two protesters in Minneapolis by federal immigration agents.The Senate separated DHS funding from other agencies to avoid a prolonged shutdown.According to a report from CBS, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said that the Democrats are planning to present a detailed proposal on DHS reforms soon. Schumer reportedly said the proposal would be similar to what Democrats have already laid out.Meanwhile, Trump on Monday said in a Truth Social post that Democrats and Republicans would work together “in good faith to address the issues that have been raised, but we cannot have another long, pointless, and destructive Shutdown that will hurt our Country so badly — One that will not benefit Republicans or Democrats. I hope everyone will vote, YES!”<h2 class="st-heading-2">Data Delays</h2>The partial shutdown has already affected key data releases. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/us-government-shutdown-will-reportedly-delay-january-jobs-data/cZbgHVTR4kA">said</a> that it will not be releasing the latest January jobs report on Friday.The BLS had clarified that even if the funding was restored, the partial shutdown would impact several key reports scheduled to release this week, including December’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey release, and the Metropolitan Area Employment and Unemployment release, in addition to the jobs data.Meanwhile, U.S. equities ended Tuesday in red.
