Supply Model and Mining Mechanism The Maximum Supply of Pi is 100 billion tokens. Circulating Supply includes all Migrated Mining Rewards and all tokens that entered circulation from other buckets of the allocations, which at its maximum could be summed up to equal the Effective Total Supply.   Pi’s mining rewards are distributed based on an issuance formula that follows a declining exponential model defined in the Pi whitepaper. Users can increase the amount of mining rewards they receive based on their individual contributions to the network, like Security Circles, using utility-based Pi apps, running Nodes, etc. For each month, the amount of Pi to be distributed as mobile balance is capped and determined by the model, regardless of how many people or how many types of mining rewards there are during the month. The capping is achieved by the design of a system-wide base mining rate, and each type of mining rewards to each individual are just a multiplier of this base mining rate. As the monthly supplies always diminish, the base mining rate generally decreases over time.   Fewer Pi may also be issued because the real Pi issuance on the blockchain depends on Pioneers passing KYC and completing all steps required for migration to the Mainnet. Despite all efforts to facilitate and remind Pioneers to complete those required steps, there are always dropoffs along the way, resulting in less than all outstanding mobile balances to be issued on the blockchain. Because of this mechanism, the community issued amount (Migrated Mining Rewards) on the blockchain will likely be closer and closer to a line lower than the 65 billion. This is thus the reason for the variable Effective Total Supply which incorporates this effect. Effective Total Supply results from all Migrated Mining Rewards divided by 65%, as opposed to the Maximum Supply of 100 billion. Global sales of fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles rose 15% in August compared to the same month a year earlier, marking the slowest growth rate since January, as tougher comparisons weighed on demand.China, which accounts for more than half of global EV sales, cooled sharply with growth of just 6% after averaging 36% a month in the first half of the year, Reuters&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/global-ev-sales-growth-slows-15-august-research-firm-says-2025-09-11/">reported</a>, citing Rho Motion data manager Charles Lester. Sales there are still expected to strengthen in the fourth quarter as new funds become available for subsidy schemes and seasonal demand typically improves.Worldwide EV sales reached 1.7 million units in August, down from a 21% increase in July. Chinese sales totaled 1.1 million vehicles, European sales rose 48% to 283,453, North America climbed 13% to 201,255, and the rest of the world jumped 56% to more than 144,280.China’s overall car sales slowed to the weakest in seven months. Global automakers are reportedly relying more on Chinese technology to fast-track electric vehicles, with Ford, Toyota, Renault and Volkswagen joining Audi in adopting Chinese EV platforms, software and powertrains to cut costs and shorten timelines.Audi’s turning point came in 2021, when its executives were stunned by the Zeekr 001, a long-range EV with European styling. “The Zeekr 001 back then shocked quite everyone,” said Stefan Poetzl, president of SAIC Audi Sales and Marketing, according to a Reuters&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/china-inside-how-chinese-ev-tech-is-reshaping-global-auto-design-2025-09-11/">report</a>.&nbsp;In response, Audi partnered with SAIC to develop the Audi E5 Sportback, built in just 18 months with Chinese batteries, electric drive systems, infotainment and advanced driver assistance. The $33,000 model will be delivered to Chinese buyers this month.Other global players are pursuing similar strategies. Toyota is co-developing China-dedicated models with Guangzhou-based GAC, while Volkswagen has expanded plans with Xpeng that cover both EV and fuel models.&nbsp;Renault built the Dacia Spring on a Dongfeng platform and is apparently developing a new electric Twingo in Shanghai with support from Launch Design. Ford is actively seeking a Chinese partner, with CEO Jim Farley praising local models such as Xiaomi’s SU7 sedan.Stellantis has already taken the step of licensing technology: CEO Zhu Jiangming said its partner Leapmotor will sell EVs overseas and is in talks with other brands to license its platform.&nbsp;Abu Dhabi-based CYVN Holdings, an investor in Nio, has also reportedly built a premium EV using Nio’s chassis and software, with plans to sell under the McLaren brand.Analysts say the model resembles the “Intel Inside” campaign of the 1990s, where Chinese EV makers package chassis, batteries and software into ready-made kits for foreign manufacturers.&nbsp;The approach saves billions in R&amp;D and years of development, while providing Chinese companies with valuable licensing revenue amid a bruising domestic price war and mounting trade tensions abroad.“It is a very smart, win-win solution,” said Will Wang, general manager of Shanghai-based consultancy Autodatas. Marco Santino of Oliver Wyman added that the “firepower” of China’s fierce EV competition allows legacy carmakers to bring higher-quality products to market more quickly.But some warn of long-term risks. Ford, Toyota, Renault, Volkswagen, Audi Turn To Chinese EV Platforms — A New ‘Intel Inside’ For Cars

Global carmakers are cutting costs and years off development by licensing ready-made Chinese EV platforms, batteries and software.

NIO Inc. (NIO) on Wednesday announced the pricing of its $1 billion equity offering relating to a total of 181.8 million Class A ordinary shares of the company. NYSE-listed shares of the company tumbled over 10% at the time of writing.The company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://ir.nio.com/news-releases/news-release-details/nio-inc-announces-pricing-us1-billion-equity-offering">stated</a> that it would comprise an offering of the company’s American depositary shares (ADSs) and an offering of its Class A ordinary shares.The ADSs will be offered at a public offering price of $5.57 per ADS, with the offering expected to close on or about September 11. This represents an 11% discount to the stock’s closing price on Tuesday.The Class A ordinary shares, meanwhile, are being offered at an offering price of HK$43.36 per share. The closing of the ordinary share offering is expected on or about September 17.On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/NIO">NIO stock</a> stayed within ‘bearish’ territory over the past 24 hours, while message volume stayed at ‘low’ levels.The Chinese EV maker currently plans to use the net proceeds from the equity offering to invest in the research and development of core technologies for smart electric vehicles, develop future technology platforms and vehicle models across its brands. It also intends to utilize the funds to expand its battery swapping and charging network, further strengthen its balance sheet, and for general corporate purposes.Earlier this month, Nio reported total revenues of RMB19.01 billion ($2.66 billion) for Q2, which was below an analyst estimate of RMB19.74 billion, according to data from Fiscal AI. The net loss for the quarter was RMB4.99 billion, representing a 1% decrease from the second quarter of 2024.For the third quarter, the company expects to deliver between 87,000 and 91,000 vehicles, representing an increase of approximately 40.7% to 47.1% compared to the same quarter in 2024. The higher delivery expectations are spurred by the company’s new vehicle models, including the Onvo L90 and the new Nio ES8. CEO William Li noted in a post-earnings call that with the new vehicles, the company sees a market demand that is higher than what it expected before launch. BYD looks poised to pull further ahead of Toyota Motor and Tesla in Singapore after the government extended two major electric vehicle incentive programs to push drivers toward cleaner cars.In a joint statement&nbsp;on Monday, the Land Transport Authority and National Environment Agency said the Vehicular Emissions Scheme will now run through the end of 2027, but rebates will only go to fully electric models.&nbsp;Hybrids will lose their perks, while higher-polluting cars will face steeper penalties.The separate Electric Vehicle Early Adoption Incentive will&nbsp;remain in place until the end of 2026, although the maximum rebate will be reduced to SG$7,500 from SG$15,000. After that, it will&nbsp;come to an end entirely.&nbsp;Even with the reductions, buyers who switch to EVs can still save as much as SG$30,000 in 2026 and SG$20,000 in 2027 once both schemes are factored in. Singapore’s revised schemes will provide buyers with up to S$30,000 in savings on electric cars through 2026, supporting the city’s plan to have all vehicles run on cleaner energy by 2040. 

Retail chatter picked up around VinFast Auto late Sunday after the Vietnamese carmaker rolled out its first electric SUVs in India, unveiling the compact VF6 and the larger VF7, in a market that’s fast becoming a global EV hotspot.Prices start at ₹16.49 lakh ($19,800) for the VF6 and ₹20.89 lakh ($25,000) for the VF7, with customers able to reserve one for a refundable ₹21,000. Deliveries are expected later this year.&nbsp;Both models come with complimentary charging and maintenance until 2028 and feature panoramic sunroofs as standard.&nbsp;The SUVs&nbsp;come with warranties of seven years for the VF6 and 10 years for the VF7, offering ranges of up to 532 km (ARAI-certified) and features including vegan leather interiors, 12.9-inch displays, ADAS Level 2, and modes such as Pet Mode and Camp Mode.Local assembly will take place at VinFast’s planned Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu, which will also serve as an export hub for South Asia. Li noted that with the new vehicles, the company sees a market demand that is higher than what it expected before launch.While the L90 was officially launched on July 31, the ES8 was formally unveiled last month and made available for pre-orders, with user deliveries expected to begin in late September.Li also noted that the company is focusing on ramping up production for its existing models and has therefore decided not to launch or deliver any new models this year.
