The National Security Group, Inc. (NSG) is an insurance holding company. The Company, through its three wholly owned subsidiaries, operates in two industry segments; property and casualty insurance, and life insurance. The property and casualty subsidiaries of the Company, National Security Fire and Casualty (NSFC), and Omega One Insurance Company (Omega), primarily write personal lines coverage, including dwelling fire and windstorm, homeowners, mobile homeowners, and personal non-standard automobile lines of insurance in 11 states. The Company's life insurance subsidiary, National Security Insurance Company (NSIC), offers a basic line of life and health and accident insurance products in six states. As of December 31, 2011, the Property and casualty insurance accounted for 88% of total revenues of the Company. The independent agent distribution method accounted for 63.8% of total revenues in the life insurance segment as of December 31, 2011
