Expedia Gets Price-Target Hikes After Strong Q2, Outlook Raise: Retail Extremely Bullish

Shares of the online travel company rose 5.5% on Monday, higher than the 4% gains on Friday following its quarterly report.

(CAVA) shares fell over 22% in after-hours trading on Tuesday, after the Mediterranean-style restaurant chain missed comparable sales estimates for the second quarter and lowered its view for the full year.If the losses hold in Wednesday's session, it would mark the stock's worst session decline on record. <a href="https://stocktwits.com/RoggyLin/message/624775529">Cava</a> was among the top five trending tickers on Stocktwits late Tuesday.The performance is another indicator of the softness in the restaurant sector, as high inflation and economic uncertainty prompt consumers to curb dining out.Cava was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in June 2023. As of their last close, its shares are down about 50% from their all-time high in November 2024, and 25% down year-to-date.The company now expects same-store sales growth of 4% to 6% this year, down from its prior range of 6% to 8%.In the second quarter, revenue rose 20% to $280.6 million, just shy of analysts' estimate of $285.5 million. Cava Stock Nosedives After Sales Outlook Cut, Poised For Worst Day Ever — But Retail Traders Smell Opportunity

Expedia Group (EXPE) shares surged over 17% in extended trading on Thursday, among the highest in the S&amp;P 500, after the travel booking company raised its full-year target.If the after-hours gains carry over into Friday, the stock could be on its way to its best session in four months.Expedia said its upgraded outlook, coming on the heels of stronger-than-expected Q2 results, is driven by a sharp rebound in business travel demand alongside a modest recovery among U.S. consumers.Booking Holdings (BKNG) and Airbnb (ABNB) also reported better-than-expected quarterly results recently, although both companies offered cautious outlooks. Broadly, online travel companies are seeing a rebound in activity, driven by international travel, with U.S. demand showing signs of improvement beginning in July."Outside of the U.S., the market was quite healthy. Expedia Stock Pops On Outlook Boost As Business Travel Rebounds, But CEO Says Lower End Of Market In ‘Wait-And-See’ Mode

Booking and Airbnb recently reported better-than-expected results for the last quarter.  

U.S. hotel chains Hilton (HLT) and Marriott (MAR) have announced a significant expansion drive in Africa, responding to the growing business and leisure travel to the continent.According to a Reuters report, Hilton plans to more than triple its hotel count in the region to 160, while Marriott aims to open 50 properties by 2027.Hilton said it would open hotels in Angola, Ghana, and Benin for the first time and reopen properties in Madagascar and Tanzania, without offering a timeline for the plans.Marriott will open its first set of hotels in Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, and Mauritania.
