Citi believes integration and revenue dyssynergies would likely overwhelm any potential cost savings from a large-scale transaction. The firm expects favorable weather to mean most insurers will report strong or even stronger-than-expected results, but pricing commentary will likely be more pessimistic.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Expansion Amidst Streamlining Operations</h2>AIG’s CEO, Peter Zaffino, has been streamlining its operations since taking the reins in 2021 by selling its global personal travel business, and continues to make acquisitions and investments to make AIG into a more capital-aligned company.AIG recently announced it will invest around $5 billion in specialty insurer Convex and asset manager Onex Corporation. As part of the deal, AIG acquired a 35% stake in Convex for $2.1 billion. It slid more than 1.7% in pre-market trade, while retail sentiment around the company on the platform remained in ‘bearish’ territory.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Bank of America Joins Wall Street’s Bearish Calls</h2>Bank of America lowered PayPal’s rating to ‘Neutral’ from ‘Buy’ and cut its price target to $68 from $93, as per TheFly. The firm said the company is taking longer than expected to revive growth, which “limits near-term upside.”The firm had expected product innovation and the upgraded checkout experience to drive increased usage of the PayPal button at checkout. Instead, the analyst said that the fourth quarter (Q4) is likely to see a step down in branded checkout growth and that 2026 will be an investment year for the company.<h2 class="st-heading-2">PayPal Lowers Checkout Growth Outlook</h2>Earlier this month, the PayPal management noted that Q4 comparables will be “tougher” than last year, with branded checkout growth projected to be “at least a couple of points slower” than in the third quarter (Q3).&nbsp;It also stated that guidance for Q4 remains “well intact,” according to remarks at UBS’s 2025 Global Technology and AI Conference cited by TheFly.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Other Wall Street Firms Echo Cautious Stance</h2>After PayPal’s comments, JPMorgan downgraded the stock to ‘Neutral’ from ‘Overweight,’ lowering its target to $70 from $85. It described 2026 as a “show-me execution year” where the company faces both upside potential and execution risk.&nbsp;Deutsche Bank’s Nate Svensson followed with a price target cut to $65 from $75 while maintaining a ‘Hold’ rating on the stock, citing similar concerns over branded checkout performance.&nbsp;Evercore ISI also kept its ‘In Line’ rating with a $65 target, highlighting challenges in the Branded Core segment despite growth in Buy-Now-Pay-Later (BNPL) and Pay with Venmo segments. Bank of America lowered PayPal’s rating to ‘Neutral’ from ‘Buy’ and cut its price target to $68 from $93, citing slower growth.

Revenue for the quarter was $1.87 billion, in line with estimates, although 6% lower than the same period last year.SAIC also raised its adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) guidance to about $695 million, up from between $680 million and $690 million previously. It is also projecting adjusted diluted EPS of $9.80 to $10.00, up from $9.40 to $9.60 reported before."Our third quarter results reflect a 5.6% revenue contraction, slightly ahead of our guidance when adjusting for the approximate 1% headwind from the government shutdown, and strong margins due to continued sound program execution,” said Jim Reagan, SAIC Interim Chief Executive Officer, in the statement.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Against The Odds</h2>SAIC’s stellar performance comes despite the recent government shutdown, which has affected several federal contractors this quarter. About 98% of the company’s total revenues come from government contracts or subcontracts, the company had said earlier in a filing.Its operating income as a percentage of revenues decreased in the quarter compared with the same period last year, which it attributed to executive transition costs related to a contract termination.SAIC also acquired SilverEdge Government Solutions, a provider of technology solutions and products, last month. SAIC Stock Surges Post Upbeat Q3 Earnings, Improved Guidance

However, this was below analyst estimates of $34.2 billion. The company reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.05, beating the $1.03 consensus."We continue to focus on what matters most – serving our customers, running great stores, and strengthening our core business. Our results show we are improving the customer experience and building a strong foundation for long-term growth," said Ron Sargent, Chairman and CEO of Kroger.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Spending Squeeze</h2>The American retailer attributed its business momentum to growth in its e-commerce and pharmacy businesses. Kroger is among the many retailers that are betting big on online sales. “We have now completed our strategic review, which we expect will make our eCommerce business profitable in 2026,” said Sargent.However, the supermarket brand has been under pressure from lowered consumer spending as well as the government shutdown that led to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) food-stamp benefits briefly expiring in November. On Wednesday, Macy’s CEO highlighted how customers remained cautious about spending.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Outlook And Sentiment</h2>While Kroger's latest quarter identical sales excluding fuel rose 2.6%, the company revised its guidance for the same to between 2.8% and 3%, from the previous range of 2.7% and 3.4%.
