Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. The proliferation and leakage of abnormal blood vessels is stimulated by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a protein that promotes the growth of new blood vessels. According to 4D, the disease has a high incidence, with 200,000 individuals estimated to be newly diagnosed every year in the U.S. alone.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Study Findings</h2>4D-150 showed maintenance of visual acuity and control of retinal anatomy in the study, the company <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://ir.4dmoleculartherapeutics.com/news-releases/news-release-details/4dmt-announces-positive-long-term-data-phase-12-prism-clinical">said</a>. The study also reduced treatment burden as patients maintained a consistent and clinically meaningful reduction in supplemental injections in 6-month intervals following dosing with 4D-150 through up to two years of follow-up, it added.4D-150 was further well tolerated with no new safety or intraocular inflammation findings. The drug is aimed at providing multi-year, and potentially lifelong, sustained delivery of anti-VEGF from the retina with a single, safe, intravitreal injection. Anti-VEGF is a treatment that blocks the action of the vascular endothelial growth factor.The company is currently enrolling patients into late-stage trials for the drug. The company plans to launch a beta version of the app to select users this fall, according to the report, which notes that it will be separate from the existing Bumble app.Shares of the company traded nearly 1% lower by Friday noon. Bumble Developing AI-Powered Matchmaking App: Report

 According to The Wall Street Journal, the company plans to launch a beta version of the app to select users this fall, which will be separate from the existing Bumble app.

(DVAX) on Thursday said that its experimental Shingles vaccine yielded positive results in an early-to-mid-stage study as compared to GSK Plc’s (GSK) Shingrix vaccine. &nbsp;Herpes zoster, or shingles, is a viral infection that affects approximately one in three people in their lifetime. At the dose formulation and regimen chosen for advancing to the next part of the trial, Z-1018 achieved 100% antibody production compared to Shingrix at 96.9%, the company said.Furthermore, only 12.5% of participants receiving Z-1018 at the dose reported local post-injection reactions, compared to 52.6% for Shingrix, the company said. Incyte is now focusing on its development pipeline as its cancer drug, Jakafi, nears patent expiration.“Continued progress and diversification of our portfolio, including advancements with povorcitinib and mutCALR, are strengthening the foundation for sustainable, long-term growth,” CEO Bill Meury said.Jakafi net revenue came in at $764 million in the second quarter of the year, marking a growth of 8% year-on-year, and accounting for about 63% of the company’s total revenue in the quarter of $1.216 billion, which surpassed Wall Street expectations. &nbsp;For the full year, the company is eyeing revenue of $3 billion to $3.5 billion from Jakafi.Another important drug from the company is its Opzelura cream, used to treat nonsegmental vitiligo, which brought in revenues of $164 million in the second quarter, marking a growth of 35% year-on-year.Overall, for the second quarter, the company reported an adjusted and diluted earnings per share of $1.57, compared to a loss per share of $1.82 reported in the corresponding period of 2024.According to data from Koyfin, 11 of 27 analysts covering the stock rate it ‘Buy’ or higher, while 15 rate it ‘Hold’, and just one rates it a ‘Sell’.
