Warsh has been advocating for lower rates, but rising inflation signals have led the market to believe otherwise.&nbsp;The producer price index rose 6% from a year ago, topping all estimates in a Bloomberg survey of economists. The monthly advance was also the sharpest since 2022. S&P500, Nasdaq Gain Over Tech Stock Optimism As Nvidia Hits Record Highs, Dow Slips — FRVO, F, SLS, CSCO In Focus

Data showed producer prices soared in April, the highest in four years, amid sticky inflation, while investors turned attention to Trump’s China visit.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Markets were weighed down by a dip in technology megacap stocks.&nbsp;</li><li>The S&amp;P500 and the Nasdaq indices fell 0.2% and 0.7% respectively, while the Dow Jones rose 0.1%</li><li>Hot inflation numbers above the U.S. Fed target raised concerns.&nbsp;</li></ul>The S&amp;P 500 slipped from record highs on Tuesday along with the Nasdaq index as red-hot inflation data on the back of soaring fuel prices overshadowed general AI optimism and tech stock strength, while the Dow Jones index eked out minor gains.&nbsp;The tech-heavy Nasdaq was down 0.7%, the S&amp;P 500 was down 0.2%, while the Dow gained 56 points, or 0.1%.&nbsp;Bureau of Labor Statistics data released on Tuesday highlighted the conflict in Iran is fueling a resurgence in inflation, placing additional pressure on consumers who were already reeling under the pressure of rising living costs and poor wage growth.&nbsp;After adjusting for the rise in inflation, real wages saw a year-over-year decline in April, marking the first such contraction since 2023, according to data from Bureau of Labor Statistics.&nbsp;The U.S.-Iran war has had spill over effects across multiple sectors. The consumer price index for April rose 3.8% from a year ago, the most since 2023, data out Tuesday showed. The war pushed gas prices up by 50% since the war began, according to data from the American Automobile Association, and the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics report pointed to rising prices for airfares, housing, clothing and food.&nbsp;Megacap tech stocks dropped the most, pulling the Nasdaq down nearly 1%, on Tuesday. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Qualcomm (QCOM) dropped 2% and 11%, respectively. In April, AMD had surged more than 74%, while Qualcomm gained more than 39%.The PHLX Semiconductor Sector Index (SOX) , which is a strong barometer for performance of chipmaker stocks, fell 3% today.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“I think for equity investors, the main takeaway here is that higher energy prices are eroding consumers’ purchasing power,” wrote Neil Dutta of Renaissance Macro Research (RenMac) in a note accessed by Barron’s.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Trending Stocks To Watch&nbsp;</h2>Oklo (OKLO): Stock is trending as investors react to the NRC's approval of the Principal Design Criteria for its Aurora powerhouse, a major regulatory milestone that de-risks the path. SPY, QQQ, DIA Slip As Inflation Concerns Hinder AI Rally

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Burry added that even if these parabolic rallies appear to have further upside, investors holding on are ultimately betting on their ability to exit at or near the peak.</li><li>He stated that the Nasdaq 100’s real price-to-earnings ratio is closer to 43x than the 30x Wall Street touts.</li><li>Burry also added that investors who have benefited from the massive run-up in high-momentum stocks should consider taking profits while gains remain elevated.</li></ul>Michael Burry on Monday reiterated his warning about a potential AI bubble, stating that he expects a complete reversal of the Nasdaq 100 index from its current levels.“The Big Short” investor stated in a Substack&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://substack.com/home/post/p-197176852">post</a> that the Nasdaq 100 is currently trading at levels that are too good and too lucky to be real. “This, all of it, is the scene of the bloody car crash, minutes before it happens,” Burry said.He added that even if these parabolic rallies appear to have further upside, investors holding on are ultimately betting on their ability to exit at or near the peak.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Burry Warns History Is Repeating Itself</h2>Burry warned that history is repeating itself in the stock market and that it is not a good thing.“In the next two days, I will release a valuation exercise that seems to suggest almost no tech stock, not even bombed out software stocks, are inexpensive when held to strict accounting standards, more strict and more forensic in nature than GAAP,” he said.He also stated that the Nasdaq 100’s real price-to-earnings ratio is closer to 43x than the 30x Wall Street touts.Beyond stock-based compensation, he said investors should also account for issues tied to depreciation practices, construction-in-progress spending, M&amp;A expenses, capital leases, and other adjustments needed to determine true owner earnings rather than relying solely on GAAP net income.“In addition, there are the future write-downs, such as Nvidia’s growing contracts with TSMC, securing over one hundred billion dollars of capacity at TSMC. CSCO in 2001 and 2002 wrote down years of its best earnings when it had to write off the same types of contracts with its suppliers,” Burry said.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Burry Recommends Investors Take Profits</h2>Burry also added that investors who have benefited from the massive run-up in high-momentum stocks should consider taking profits while gains remain elevated.He cautioned that short selling is not suitable for most investors, noting that put options are expensive. Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang praised the custom chip powering Nintendo’s (NTDOY) upcoming Switch 2 console on Tuesday, calling it the most advanced graphics solution ever developed for a mobile device.In a&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/NintendoAmerica/status/1929886108113932624">video</a> posted by Nintendo ahead of the console’s launch Thursday, Huang said the Switch 2 integrates “three breakthroughs”–full hardware ray tracing, high dynamic range support, and a new architecture enabling backward compatibility.“It’s unlike anything we’ve built before,” Huang said. He added that the console includes dedicated artificial intelligence processors to “sharpen, animate, and enhance gameplay in real time.”Huang didn't mention any specifications but said that Switch 2 would have "the most advanced graphics ever in a mobile device."Huang also credited former Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata for the vision behind the hybrid system. “Switch 2 is more than a new console,” he said. “It’s a new chapter worthy of Iwata Son’s vision.”The two companies began collaborating in 2015, when Nintendo selected a prototype based on Nvidia’s Tegra X1 system-on-chip (SoC) to power the original Switch. At the time, Huang described the relationship between the two companies&nbsp;as potentially lasting 20 years, given Nintendo’s history of sticking with hardware partners for the long haul.That custom chip helped enable the Switch’s hybrid form factor and has been included in all 132 million units sold since the console's 2017 debut.Nvidia dedicated what Huang previously described as “several hundred engineering years” to customizing the SoC and logic board for Nintendo’s needs.
