Intels quarterly report and weaker-than-expected outlook are driving the selloff, with traders focused on prolonged PC-market weakness and manufacturing constraints despite stronger data-center results. The community is split between calling the drop an overreaction and buying the dip, and warning that the weak guidance points to continued business pressure.

Bitcoin is the world's first decentralized cryptocurrency, created in 2009 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto. It enables peer-to-peer electronic cash transactions without intermediaries like banks or governments, operating on a blockchain secured by Proof of Work mining and the SHA-256 cryptographic algorithm. With a fixed supply cap of 21 million coins and programmatic halvings every four years that reduce miner rewards, Bitcoin is designed as a deflationary digital asset often called "digital gold." Its value stems from solving the double-spending problem without trusted intermediaries, creating the first truly scarce digital asset with censorship resistance and permissionless access that no government, corporation, or individual can control. Bitcoin operates as a decentralized peer-to-peer network where transactions are recorded on a public ledger called the blockchain, distributed across thousands of computers globally. Transactions are grouped into blocks added approximately every 10 minutes through mining, where specialized computers compete to solve complex mathematical puzzles. Bitcoin has achieved mainstream adoption through multiple vectors. The January 2024 SEC approval of 11 spot Bitcoin ETFs opened Bitcoin investment to traditional finance participants, and corporations like Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) are using Bitcoin as a treasury reserve asset to protect against currency debasement, offering MSTR holders amplified exposure to Bitcoin. The Bitcoin ecosystem continues to evolve with innovations like Ordinals, which emerged in January 2023 to enable NFT-like functionality directly on Bitcoin, and BRC-20 tokens, an experimental standard for creating fungible tokens using Ordinal inscriptions. BTCFi (Bitcoin Finance) represents emerging financial applications extending beyond Bitcoin's traditional role, with protocols like Babylon allowing Bitcoin holders to stake BTC to secure Proof of Stake chains.

A reported major Binance security breach is driving Bitcoin discussion and a sharp selloff, with traders debating whether exchange-related concerns could spread across crypto or are being mistaken for a flaw in Bitcoin itself. SanDisks strong quarterly results, higher outlook and announced 8-for-1 stock split have been met with a sharp selloff, which traders link to broader weakness in chip and AI stocks after Intel and Amazon reports. Strategys Q3 results sparked debate because a headline earnings beat was driven by Bitcoin mark-to-market gains while revenue missed, and the CFO transition added uncertainty. Traders also linked pressure on MSTR to Bitcoins selloff amid reports of a suspected Binance hack; bearish concerns over dilution and preferred dividends competed with dip-buying optimism.

Apples unusual resilience and gains while other mega-cap and AI stocks sell off have traders debating whether it has become a safe-haven, anti-AI rotation play, aided by its comparatively restrained AI spending. Bears argue the valuation is stretched and question demand and product quality, while the stocks run-up into earnings has raised concerns about whether results can meet expectations.

Reddits earnings reaction centers on a weaker-than-expected fourth-quarter outlook, slowing user growth and declining Google search referrals, alongside plans to test a logged-in-only experience. Many traders fear the changes could further reduce traffic and undermine growth, while others view the selloff as an overreaction to otherwise strong quarterly results and see a buying opportunity.
