Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said vehicles running on petrol and diesel have no long-term future, urging the automobile industry to shift towards cleaner fuel alternatives. Speaking at the Busworld India Conclave 2025, Gadkari backed the transition to green mobility, stressing that fossil fuels pose serious challenges due to rising imports and environmental concerns. His remarks come amid India’s push to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable transport systems. The MoU was signed by VIT Registrar Dr. T. Jayabarathi and Sitaram Kandi, Chief Human Resources Officer, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., and formally exchanged at the company’s premises in Pune. Under the agreement, VIT will offer a B.Tech programme in Manufacturing Engineering for employees of Tata Motors’ Ranipet plant from the 2026–27 academic session. The MoU exchange was formalised in the presence of VIT Chancellor Dr. G. Viswanathan and Sitaram Kandi.
