This project would enable the advancement of exploration and development at the Ambler Mining District in Northwest Alaska, home to some of the world's richest known copper-dominant polymetallic deposits, the company said.The company said that the issuance of these permits follows the October 6 Presidential decision under Section 1106 of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, directing federal agencies to re-issue the authorizations necessary for the construction and operation of the Ambler Access Road.The executed permits restore the 50-year right-of-way across federally managed lands originally granted in 2020, the company said.<h2 class="st-heading-2">U.S. Stake In Trilogy Metals</h2>In early October, the U.S. agreed to buy a 10% stake in Trilogy Metals. The Trump administration reached a deal to purchase 8.2 million shares of the company from Australia’s South32 at $2.17 each.As part of the agreement, the U.S. also secured warrants to acquire an additional 7.5% stake in the Vancouver-based firm. The Metals Company (TMC) stock drew retail attention over the weekend as the traders pondered whether the U.S. government could acquire a stake in the company amid an ongoing trade tussle with China.Over the weekend, the Financial Times <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.ft.com/content/cd5244eb-a8e9-42bc-8939-71ba0fefa057">reported</a> that the U.S. is looking to buy as much as $1 billion of critical minerals to stockpile. The newspaper, citing public filings published in recent months by the Pentagon’s Defense Logistics Agency, said that planned purchases include as much as $500 million of cobalt, up to $245 million of antimony, and $100 million of tantalum.The move comes at a time when the U.S. is looking to reduce its reliance on China, which dominates the world’s supply of critical minerals. TMC Stock: Retail Traders See Next Trump-Era Resource Play Amid Fresh China-US Trade Tensions

Over the weekend, the Financial Times reported that the U.S. is looking to buy as much as $1 billion of critical minerals to stockpile.

Trilogy Metals stock (TMQ) is headed for its biggest weekly gain after the U.S. agreed to buy a 10% stake in the company.The stock has gained an astonishing 215% this week, far outpacing previous advances. About 280 million shares have changed hands this week, more than thrice the previous weekly high of 88.8 million last November after Donald Trump won the U.S. Presidential election.The surge came after the Trump administration agreed to buy 8.2 million units of Trilogy Metals for $2.17 apiece from Australia’s South32. The U.S. also agreed to hold warrants to buy an additional 7.5% stake in the Vancouver-based company. The revised price target implies a 16% downside compared to the stock’s previous close.The brokerage reportedly flagged valuation for the downgrade following the stock's re-rating post the U.S. federal government investment. It said that while the news was "materially positive" for Trilogy, the shares are now trading at an "excess of multiples typically ascribed for development stage projects.” BMO also noted that challenges to the announcement may also emerge.The stock was still up over 2% in premarket trading in low volumes. So far this year, the stock has jumped 464%, tracking gains of critical minerals stocks.Alongside the investment, Trump also overturned a Biden-era decision to scrap the Ambler Road project, a 211-mile, industrial-use-only road connecting Alaska’s Dalton Highway to the mineral-rich Northwestern parts of the state.Trilogy Metals holds a 50% stake in the joint venture Ambler Metals, which controls the Upper Kobuk Mineral Project, which contains key mineral deposits including copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver.
