Ethereum is a global, open-source platform for decentralized applications. In other words, it is a decentralized blockchain platform that enables developers to build and deploy smart contracts and applications without central authority control. Unlike Bitcoin, which primarily functions as digital currency, Ethereum operates as a programmable global computer where developers can create any type of decentralized service.   The platform hosts over $14 billion in DeFi applications with hundreds of thousands of active users across financial protocols, NFT marketplaces, and gaming platforms. Its transition to Proof of Stake in September 2022 reduced energy consumption by over 99%, addressing environmental concerns while strengthening network security.  The network operates through thousands of independent validator nodes that process transactions and execute smart contracts on the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Smart contracts are self-executing programs written in Solidity that automatically carry out agreements when conditions are met, eliminating intermediaries like banks or brokers.   Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. Shares of Tenon Medical, Inc. surged more than 280% on Tuesday, marking their best day ever, with the nano-cap medical device firm's retail following&nbsp;on Stocktwits surging the most among healthcare stocks after a key regulatory approval.During after-hours trading on Monday, Tenon said that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had cleared its Catamaran SI Joint Fusion System for expanded use in augmenting thoracolumbar fusion."With this approval, the Catamaran is now indicated to treat the SI [sacroiliac] joint as either a stand-alone treatment or to augment a spinal fusion," the company said in a statement.Tenon's Catamaran system is designed as a minimally invasive solution for stabilizing the joint where the lower spine and pelvic bone meet. It uses a single titanium implant to secure the joint by passing through key bone structures.&nbsp;On Stocktwits, Tenon gained 25% more followers from a day ago, as sentiment turned even more 'extremely bullish' while message volume soared by 813%.One user said if the stock breaks the $5 level again, it "will go to $7+ fast. Shares of surgical solutions firm Tenon Medical, Inc (TNON) shot up over 145% on Friday after the company announced the pricing of its public offering of shares and warrants in order to meet a Nasdaq minimum float requirement.The firm had earlier received a letter from Nasdaq stating that it did not meet the “minimum 500,000 publicly held shares requirement.”&nbsp;The compliance issue followed Tenon Medical common stock’s 1-for-8 reverse split which reduced the firm’s outstanding common stock from a little over 4.08 million shares to 510,221 shares outstanding on a post-reverse split basis. Only 490,364 of such shares qualified as publicly held shares for purposes of the minimum float requirement, the firm said in an SEC filing.Nasdaq had provided time till October 24, 2024 for the firm to come up with a plan to regain the compliance. Tenon, however, stated that it expects to regain compliance with the minimum float requirement in September itself.On Friday, the company announced the pricing of its "reasonable best efforts" public offering with a single health-care focused institutional investor for the purchase and sale of up to 1,222,850 shares of common stock and warrants to purchase an equal number of shares at a combined offering price of $3.68 per share.Tenon expects to receive aggregate gross proceeds of approximately $4.5 million, assuming no exercise of the warrants. The firm said that the warrants will have an exercise price of $3.55 per share and will be exercisable immediately.
