Opendoor Technologies (OPEN) stock experienced an impressive rally this week following interest from an activist investor, which fueled a growing online narrative that the online real estate platform could replicate the stunning market performance of Carvana (CVNA).The penny stock gained 43.3% to $1.49 on Wednesday, taking the gains so far this week to over 90%, after public comments from EMJ Capital founder Eric Jackson.Jackson, who led activist campaigns at Yahoo and Viacom a decade ago, said on X that he is open to wearing the activist hat again and suggested changes at Opendoor to take the company's stock as high as $82."If standing between a 50¢ stock and an $82 one is what it takes — and shareholders want it — I'll saddle up again for OPEN," he&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/ericjackson/status/1945204136988881376?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">posted</a>.In a series of posts, Jackson called for a stronger operational focus at the company and urged the return of Opendoor's co-founder, Keith Rabois.He urged CEO Carrie Wheeler to boost investor confidence by purchasing company stock, pointing to similar actions taken by Carvana CEO Ernest Garcia III.&nbsp;Jackson drew comparisons to Carvana, an early pioneer in online used car sales, which had once navigated a comparable downturn. Crown Castle (CCI) stock rose 3% in pre-market trade on Friday after the cell tower operator said it would sell its small cells and fiber solutions businesses for a total of $8.5 billion.The communications-focused real estate investment trust (REIT) said it would sell its small cells business to private equity firm EQT AB and its fiber solutions business to Zayo Group.Crown Castle operates a nationwide portfolio of about 115,000 small cells on air or under contract spread across 43 states, serving the top three U.S. mobile network operators.EQT said the deal would help meet the growing demand in bandwidth-intensive activities driven by the proliferation of 5G, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.The deals are expected to close in the first half of 2026. Crown Castle Stock Gains Premarket After $8.5B Deal To Sell Small Cells And Fiber Solutions: Retail’s Divided

Welltower (WELL) stock will likely attract retail attention on Monday after it agreed to buy luxury senior housing provider Amica Senior Lifestyles’ portfolio and certain assets from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board for C$4.6 billion ($3.2 billion).The real estate investment trust (REIT) would gain 31 in-place properties, comprising 24 stabilized communities and seven recently opened properties still in lease-up.&nbsp;The portfolio is located within the Canadian cities of Toronto, Vancouver, and Victoria. Welltower Bets Big On Senior Housing With $3.2B Deal In Canada: Retail Stays Unmoved For Now

Extra Space Storage (EXR) stock rose 1.1% in extended trade after the company’s fourth-quarter core funds from operations (FFO) topped Wall Street’s estimates on Tuesday.The company reported a core FFO, a metric used to gauge the profitability of real estate firms, of $2.03 per share, while analysts, on average, expected it to report $2.02 per share.Extra Space Storage posted a net income of $262.49 million, or $1.24 per share, compared with $216.13 million, or $1.02 per share for the three months ended Dec. 31.The Salt Lake City-based firm’s same-store revenue fell by 0.4%, and same-store net operating income declined by 3.5% compared to the year-ago quarter.As of Dec. 31, its same-store occupancy was 93.7%, compared with 92.5% last year.The company bought 38 operating stores for a total cost of about $359.7 million during the fourth quarter.Elevated interest rates have raised the borrowing costs for real estate firms. The company said that the macro environment remained challenging during the quarter."We expect much of the same in 2025 – a challenging but slowly improving operating environment,” CEO Joe Margolis said.The company expects same-store revenue growth between negative 0.75% and 1.25% in 2025.It also projected core FFO between $8 and $8.30 per share in 2025.
