(AMZN) on Monday announced a $12 billion investment in Louisiana for new artificial intelligence data center campuses, a project that will create 540 full-time jobs.The data center development will be across Caddo and Bossier Parishes, and will also support 1,710 additional positions, the company <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/company-news/amazon-data-center-louisiana-new-jobs">said</a>. These will include positions such as electricians, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technicians, project engineers, network specialists, operations managers, security specialists, among others.Earlier this month, the tech giant announced a significant boost to its capital expenditure for 2026, up to $200 billion from about $130 billion reported in 2025.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Data Center Details</h2>“Amazon's $12 billion investment in northwest Louisiana will build next-generation data center campuses to support AI and cloud computing, ensuring opportunities for local communities," said David Zapolsky, Amazon's Chief Global Affairs and Legal Officer."We're creating hundreds of high-paying jobs and making substantial investments in local infrastructure to serve customers," Zapolsky added.Amazon said that it plans to invest up to $400 million in local water infrastructure for the campuses, adding that it will use “only verified surplus water” which will not strain local supplies. The e-commerce giant also said it is working with partners to develop water-positive programs that will return more water than it has used to the local watershed by 2030.Amazon also said it will fully pay for all its new energy infrastructure and grid needs at the Louisiana data center campus, working in partnership with Southwestern Electric Power Company. Shareholders accused the electric vehicle maker of overstating the effectiveness of its autonomous driving technology, inflating its business prospects, and stock price.The proposed class action was filed on Monday night in a federal court in Austin, Texas, the report said. Tesla Shareholders Reportedly Sue EV Giant, CEO Elon Musk Over Robotaxi Claims: Retail’s In Wait-And-Watch Mode

Reuters on Tuesday reported that the shareholders alleged securities fraud for concealing the risk associated with the company’s self-driving vehicles, including robotaxis.

IT consulting and services giant IBM’s (IBM) shares fell sharply in Thursday’s early premarket session despite the solid quarterly results and guidance.Underwhelming software revenue and CEO Arvind Krishna’s cautious commentary on the earnings call apparently weighed down on sentiment.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/IBM">IBM stock</a> fell over 5% before the opening bell after ending Wednesday’s session up&nbsp;nearly flat at $282.01.Armonk, New York-based IBM reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $2.80 and revenue of $17 billion for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2025. The consensus estimates, according to Stocktwits, were at $2.65 and $16.95 billion, respectively.Infrastructure revenue grew 14% year over year (YoY) to $4.1 billion, while software and consulting revenue rose a more modest 10% and 3%, respectively, coming in at $7.4 billion and $5.3 billion. According to CNBC, the software revenue trailed expectations of most analysts.Krishna said, “We once again exceeded expectations for revenue, profit and free cash flow in the quarter.” The executive stated that the company’s generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) book of business continues to accelerate, reaching over $7.5 billion.During a call with the analysts, Krishna stated that geopolitical tensions, although not a major factor, prompted a few clients to move cautiously, according to a transcript provided by Koyfin.“U.S. federal spending was also somewhat constrained in the first half, but we do not expect it to create long-term headwinds,” he added.The board approved a $1.68-per-share quarterly cash dividend, payable on Sept. 15, to shareholders of record on Aug. 8.IBM also maintained its full-year guidance of at least 5% constant currency revenue growth, with forex expected to be a 1.5-point headwind. Symancyk.Symancyk said the company's overall Q4 performance and lack of growth over the past several quarters informed its new growth strategy, which he termed 'Grow Brand Love', which aims to build a strong foundation for the future."We will infuse more style and design-led product into our assortment to accelerate our growth in self-purchase and gifting while expanding our leadership position in Bridal," he added.For 2026, the company's guidance reflected sales that assume a measured consumer environment.Signet sees FY26 adjusted EPS to range between $7.31 and $9.10, compared to the consensus estimate of $9.00. It expects revenue between $6.53 billion and $6.8 billion, compared to the consensus estimate of $6.74 billion."We are focused on real estate optimization and expect to transition over 10% of mall locations to off-mall and the eCommerce channel over the next three years, leveraging our average mall lease term of just over 2 years," said the company.Sentiment on Stocktwits improved to 'extremely bullish' from 'extremely bearish' from a day ago.
