Introduced as a "joke currency" on 6 December 2013, Dogecoin quickly developed its own online community and reached a capitalization of US$60 million in January 2014. Dogecoin is primarily used as a tipping system on Reddit and Twitter where users tip each other for creating or sharing good content. The community is very active in organising fundraising activities for deserving causes.  The developers of Dogecoin haven’t made any major changes to the coin since 2015. This means that Dogecoin could get left behind and is why Shibas are leaving Dogecoin to join more advanced platforms like Ethereum. One of Dogecoin strengths is its relaxed and fun-loving community. However, this is also a weakness because other currencies are way more professional.  To purchase Dogecoin, it involves downloading a crypto wallet, setting up a crypto exchange account and then trading away for your desired crypto currency. Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency created by Charlie Lee. It was created based on the Bitcoin protocol but differs in terms of the hashing algorithm used. Litecoin uses the memory intensive Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm. Scrypt allows consumer-grade hardware such as GPU to mine those coins.  Why Litecoin? Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

Upbeat quarterly results from home builders D.R. Horton (DHI) and PulteGroup (PHM) on Tuesday showed that buyer incentives and rebates were helping drive home sales in what continues to be a challenging market, weighed by high inflation and economic uncertainty.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/DHI">Shares of D.R. Horton</a>, the largest homebuilder by volume in the U.S., rose 17%, their largest intraday gains in over five years, to close at their highest level this year.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/PHM">PulteGroup shares</a> gained 11.5%, also hitting a 2025 high.Both companies reported revenue declines that were less-than-feared by Wall Street analysts, although their heads indicated that the incentive programs were weighing down margins.D.R. Horton CEO Paul Romanowski said new home demand remains weak, and expects "incentives to remain elevated and increase further during the fourth quarter."The company's Q3 revenue fell 7.4% to $9.23 billion, compared with analysts' estimate of $8.76 billion. The management indicated that gross margins would decrease to 21% to 21.5% in the current quarter, from 21.8% in the third quarter.D.R. Horton also narrowed its annual consolidated revenue forecast range to between $33.7 billion and $34.2 billion from its earlier forecast of $33.3 billion to $34.8 billion.PulteGroup CEO Ryan Marshall said consumers faced "a range of issues from high interest rates and challenged affordability to macro concerns about the strength of the economy" during the 2025 spring period.The company's Q2 revenue fell 4.3% to $4.40 billion, but was still ahead of expectations of $4.39 billion.On Stocktwits, the retail sentiment for both D.R. U.S. new-home sales climbed to their highest level since February 2022, surging 3.3% to a 743,000 annual rate since last year.According to data released Friday by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, April’s numbers are 11% higher&nbsp;than last month.&nbsp;The monthly rise in sales came alongside modest shifts in both inventory and pricing. At the end of April, the number of new homes for sale stood at 504,000,&nbsp;slightly declining from 507,000 the previous month. Compared with April last year, the total for-sale inventory was up 8.6%.At the current sales pace, the market reflected 8.1 months of supply in April, down from 9.1 months in March, but still higher than the 7.7-month supply level recorded a year earlier.&nbsp;Pricing data was mixed. The median sales price of a new home in April was $407,200, up slightly from March’s $403,700 but down 2% from $415,300 in April 2024.&nbsp;The average sales price rose sharply to $518,400, an increase of 3.7% from the prior month and 3.6% from a year ago. This suggests that higher-end sales may have contributed to the monthly gains.April sales data may offer a positive signal for home improvement brands like Home Depot&nbsp;(HD)&nbsp;and Lowe’s Companies (LOW) as housing turnover remains subdued and residential construction has shown limited momentum.&nbsp;Earlier this week, during Home Depot’s first-quarter&nbsp;(Q1) earnings call, CEO Edward Decker noted that despite strong fundamentals like high home equity levels and wage growth, persistent macro uncertainty and elevated interest rates have delayed a rebound in larger remodeling projects.“We’ve yet to see that large project,” Decker said. While smaller DIY&nbsp;activities have picked up, including painting and yard work, he said a broader remodeling cycle is still on hold until consumer confidence improves.During the company’s most recent earnings call, Lowe's Executive Vice President Joseph McFarland also alluded that sales under its Pro customers, which include contractors, remodelers, and other professionals, feel less confident and cautious about the overall macro environment.&nbsp;The SPDR S&amp;P Homebuilders ETF (XBH) edged 0.4% lower in midday trade on Friday.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/XBH">XBH’s stock</a> has fallen over 10% this year. The iShares U.S. Home Construction ETF (ITB) slipped 0.5% in midday trade.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ITB">ITB’s stock</a> is down nearly 14% this year.&nbsp;Meanwhile, the broader market also trended lower after President Donald&nbsp;Trump&nbsp;proposed 50% tariffs on goods imported from the European Union, and&nbsp;warned&nbsp;about a 25% tariff on iPhones manufactured outside the U.S.The SPDR&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SPY">S&amp;P 500</a> ETF Trust (SPY) was down 0.7%, and the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/QQQ">Invesco QQQ</a> Trust (QQQ), which tracks the Nasdaq 100, dropped 1%.
