Bitcoin is the world's first decentralized cryptocurrency, created in 2009 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto. It enables peer-to-peer electronic cash transactions without intermediaries like banks or governments, operating on a blockchain secured by Proof of Work mining and the SHA-256 cryptographic algorithm.   With a fixed supply cap of 21 million coins and programmatic halvings every four years that reduce miner rewards, Bitcoin is designed as a deflationary digital asset often called "digital gold." Its value stems from solving the double-spending problem without trusted intermediaries, creating the first truly scarce digital asset with censorship resistance and permissionless access that no government, corporation, or individual can control.  Bitcoin operates as a decentralized peer-to-peer network where transactions are recorded on a public ledger called the blockchain, distributed across thousands of computers globally. Transactions are grouped into blocks added approximately every 10 minutes through mining, where specialized computers compete to solve complex mathematical puzzles.   Bitcoin has achieved mainstream adoption through multiple vectors. The January 2024 SEC approval of 11 spot Bitcoin ETFs opened Bitcoin investment to traditional finance participants, and corporations like Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) are using Bitcoin as a treasury reserve asset to protect against currency debasement, offering MSTR holders amplified exposure to Bitcoin.   The Bitcoin ecosystem continues to evolve with innovations like Ordinals, which emerged in January 2023 to enable NFT-like functionality directly on Bitcoin, and BRC-20 tokens, an experimental standard for creating fungible tokens using Ordinal inscriptions. BTCFi (Bitcoin Finance) represents emerging financial applications extending beyond Bitcoin's traditional role, with protocols like Babylon allowing Bitcoin holders to stake BTC to secure Proof of Stake chains.

Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. Lennar Corp shares fell 3% in extended trading Thursday after the U.S. homebuilder posted weak quarterly results, underscoring ongoing pressure in the housing market.Investors are awaiting further details on the company's analyst call scheduled for 11 am ET on Friday, even as retail traders took an optimistic view given the recent rate cut.Lennar's net profit declined to $591 million in its fiscal third quarter, down from $1.16 billion a year ago, marking a fourth consecutive quarter of decline. On an adjusted basis, the $2 per share profit was&nbsp;just below analysts' expectations of $2.1.The company's home deliveries ticked up marginally, but the average sales price fell to $383,000 from $422,000. Consequently, gross margins fell to 18% from 23% in the year-ago quarter.Total revenue declined 6.5% to $8.8 billion, missing expectations of $9 billion.The housing market has been under significant strain over the past year, as high inflation and economic uncertainty kept many buyers on the sidelines. To sustain sales, homebuilders have leaned on steep discounts and promotional offers. However, with this week's interest rate cut, which should ease mortgage costs, analysts anticipate a potential revival in housing demand.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ITB">The iShares US Home Construction ETF (ITB)</a>, which tracks stocks of homebuilders, has risen over 30% since a recent low on Aug. 8, as rate cut expectations began to build up. This downward trend, paired with the Fed's recent rate cut, gives us optimism as we head into the fourth quarter," Lennar's Co-CEO Stuart Miller said in a statement.For the current quarter, the company is guiding for deliveries of 22,000 to 23,000 units, with an average price of $380,000 to $390,000, and a gross margin of approximately 18%. As the U.S. housing market is in a state of flux, characterized by a falling demand amid affordability challenges and soaring prices, the Trump administration is reportedly planning to announce a national housing market emergency for the first time since the 2008 housing market crash.&nbsp;Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed the housing market in two separate interviews, hinting that President Donald Trump was planning to announce a set of measures to reinvigorate the housing market.In an interview with the Washington Enquirer, Bessent said, “We’re trying to figure out what we can do, and we don’t want to step into the business of states, counties, and municipal governments,” Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-01/trump-weighs-declaring-national-housing-emergency-bessent-says">reported.</a>“We may declare a national housing emergency in the fall.”Commenting on the development, economist Jon Hartley, a policy Fellow at policy think tank Hoover Institution, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/Jon_Hartley_/status/1962656393565000146">said</a>, “Declaring a national housing emergency is a terrific idea &amp; one that is overdue. Rents were dropping, he said, adding that he expects real estate transactions and home sales to increase once interest rates begin to fall.Bessent said the Trump administration was considering ways to simplify permitting and encourage standardization to boost construction. Upbeat quarterly results from home builders D.R. Horton (DHI) and PulteGroup (PHM) on Tuesday showed that buyer incentives and rebates were helping drive home sales in what continues to be a challenging market, weighed by high inflation and economic uncertainty.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/DHI">Shares of D.R. Horton</a>, the largest homebuilder by volume in the U.S., rose 17%, their largest intraday gains in over five years, to close at their highest level this year.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/PHM">PulteGroup shares</a> gained 11.5%, also hitting a 2025 high.Both companies reported revenue declines that were less-than-feared by Wall Street analysts, although their heads indicated that the incentive programs were weighing down margins.D.R. Horton CEO Paul Romanowski said new home demand remains weak, and expects "incentives to remain elevated and increase further during the fourth quarter."The company's Q3 revenue fell 7.4% to $9.23 billion, compared with analysts' estimate of $8.76 billion. The management indicated that gross margins would decrease to 21% to 21.5% in the current quarter, from 21.8% in the third quarter.D.R. Horton also narrowed its annual consolidated revenue forecast range to between $33.7 billion and $34.2 billion from its earlier forecast of $33.3 billion to $34.8 billion.PulteGroup CEO Ryan Marshall said consumers faced "a range of issues from high interest rates and challenged affordability to macro concerns about the strength of the economy" during the 2025 spring period.The company's Q2 revenue fell 4.3% to $4.40 billion, but was still ahead of expectations of $4.39 billion.On Stocktwits, the retail sentiment for both D.R.
