(WBD) has reportedly received a&nbsp;thumbs-down from the Writers Guild of America (WGA), which represents writers in film, television, radio, and online media.<h2 class="st-heading-2">WGA Pledges To Oppose Deal</h2>According to a Bloomberg<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-10-23/writers-guild-plans-to-oppose-paramount-warner-bros-merger?srnd=homepage-asia">&nbsp;report</a> citing an emailed statement from WGA, the rumored Paramount-WBD combo would be a disaster for all stakeholders. "Merger after merger in the media industry has harmed workers, diminished competition and free speech, and wasted hundreds of billions of dollars better invested in organic growth," the union said.It sees the potential combination as "a disaster for writers, for consumers, and for competition." (NFLX) stock slumped about 6.50% to $80.41 in Tuesday’s extended session as traders took stock of the streaming giant’s quarterly report, which showed an earnings miss due to an expense it incurred due to an ongoing Brazilian tax dispute regarding non-income tax assessments.Retail investors stayed optimistic despite the after-hours drop in Netflix stock.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Netflix Q3 Earnings Snapshot</h2>- Revenue: $11.51 billion (up 17.2% Year-over-Year) Vs. $11.52 billion (consensus compiled by Fiscal.ai)- Earnings per share (EPS): $5.87 Vs. $6.95 consensusThe revenue growth accelerated from 15.9% in the previous quarter, driven by membership growth, pricing adjustments, and increased ad revenue, but was slightly shy of the guidance issued in late July. The company clarified that the Brazilian tax impact was not incorporated in its guidance ($6.87). It noted that the expense, which covers periods from 2022 through the third quarter, was booked as a cost of revenue. The expense also dented operating margin, which came in at 28% below the 31.5% guidance.Investing.com analyst Thomas Monteiro, however, refused to pin the lukewarm results to the Brazilian tax issue alone. “Although the tax litigation issue certainly had an impact—particularly on margins—the truth is that the company failed to deliver the kind of growth we’ve grown used to over the past couple of years,” he said.Among the red flags the analyst raised were the tougher-than-expected environment for new user acquisition, signals that the company’s price-hiking power may be nearing a short-term peak, and the healthy ad market potentially approaching a short-term peak.“While we’ll get a clearer picture next week from Meta and Alphabet, this is an early indication that the business cycle might be turning more cautious. It clarified that the Brazilian tax expense will not have a material effect on future results.Netflix expects full-year revenue of $45.1 billion, translating to 16% growth, aligning with the previous guidance of 15%-16% growth. Analysts, on average, estimate about 15.6% topline growth for the year. Deal</h2>While answering a question from an analyst on the earnings call, co-CEO Theodore Sarandos shot down rumors of Netflix’s interest in buying out Warner Bros. (META) is reportedly close to clinching a massive private credit financing deal for its Louisiana data center facility, as the social-media giant aggressively pursues leadership in artificial intelligence.A Bloomberg report, citing people familiar with the matter, stated that the company is on track to secure a nearly $30 billion financing package from Blue Owl Capital and Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO). The financiers will soon price the bond, with PIMCO serving as the anchor lender.The proposed deal would mark a record private capital deal, comprising $27 billion in debt and $2.5 billion in equity, the report said. Morgan Stanley has advised Meta on the agreement.The proceeds of the financing deal will be used to build the Hyperion data center site, located in Richland Parish, Louisiana, with the Mark Zuckerberg-led company ultimately owning a mere 20% stake in the project and the rest held by the private-equity partner. The debt would not be loaded onto a company’s balance sheet, and it also provides investors with the option to put their money against physical assets.Why Deal Is Important For MetaMeta has 29 data centers across the world, with Hyperion being the biggest of them all. Meta sees the Louisiana facility as vital to its AI progress, delivering 2 gigawatt (GW) of compute capacity to train future open-source models. According to Bloomberg, at full capacity, it can draw 5GW of power. Zuckerberg’s latest moonshot could set a new template for Big Tech data-center funding as Meta races toward AGI dominance.

Meta Platforms (META) announced on Wednesday that it is investing $1.5 billion to build a data center in El Paso.<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/META">META’s stock</a> was down more than 4.5% in Wednesday’s midday trade. Retail sentiment around the company on Stockwits dipped to ‘bearish’ from ‘neutral’ territory while chatter remained at ‘high’ levels over the past day.&nbsp;The Mark Zuckerberg-led company said the data center is designed to scale to a gigawatt (GW) and is intended to support its growing artificial intelligence (AI) workload. It also touted that the plant will create 1,800 construction jobs at its peak and around 100 operational jobs once complete.&nbsp;Meta said it plans to integrate a closed-loop liquid-cooling system that will use zero water for most of the year, contributing to the company’s broader water-positive goal by 2030. The company said it will also source 100% of the center’s electricity from renewable energy. Meta also noted that in the company’s agreement with El Paso Electric, it has paid for new grid infrastructure required to connect the data center, including new transmission lines and substations.The tech giant added that the El Paso data center will complement Meta’s AI initiatives by powering applications ranging from AI assistants and live translations to video editing tools.&nbsp;This new data center will be the third entity the company has set up in Texas, in addition to the data centers in Forth Worth and Temple.
