Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

Both wanted to create a fun cryptocurrency that will appeal beyond the core Bitcoin audience. Dogecoin is primarily used as a tipping system on Reddit and Twitter where users tip each other for creating or sharing good content. The community is very active in organising fundraising activities for deserving causes.  The developers of Dogecoin haven’t made any major changes to the coin since 2015. This means that Dogecoin could get left behind and is why Shibas are leaving Dogecoin to join more advanced platforms like Ethereum. One of Dogecoin strengths is its relaxed and fun-loving community. However, this is also a weakness because other currencies are way more professional. I have spent a few decades looking at them, and I think I have a handle on it.”</blockquote>He suggested Molina is a “special one” in the insurance industry, “like Warren Buffett found in his wildly successful GEICO investment.”&nbsp;Buffett’s GEICO bet is a well-worn investing tale. After buying the auto insurer’s stock as a college student in 1951, his tryst with the insurer continued. Through Berkshire Hathaway, an investment holding company he has been running as CEO for about six decades, he began amassing shares in GEICO in 1976 and then bought it outright in 1996. Buffett is set to step down as CEO on Wednesday. Berkshire’s latest quarterly results show that GEICO generated revenue of $11.26 billion and raked in earnings before income taxes of $1.77 billion. It is among Berkshire's most profitable subsidiaries.&nbsp;Burry has a Buffett connection despite their differing investment ideologies. He says his social-media handle “Cassandra” was given to him by Buffett, referring to the Trojan prophetess whose accurate warnings went unheeded—an apt parallel to his precise prediction of the housing market collapse.In his latest post, Burry argued that GEICO stock, though a “real steal” for Buffett in 1976, was riskier than buying Molina today, Business Insider&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/big-short-michael-burry-molina-healthcare-insurance-warren-buffett-geico-2025-12">reported</a>. The “Big Short” fame investor said Molina has a better business proposition in many ways. He sees Molina having a clearer path to significant double-digit long-term earnings than Apple.&nbsp;“Maybe Buffett, if he were in his 40s and only just ramping up his insurance investments, would buy it here for a much smaller Berkshire.”Burry also said he would have bought the company if he had had enough billions.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Molina Worth High Praise?</h2>Founded in 1980 by an emergency room physician named Dr. David Molina in Long Beach, California, the company began modestly with a network of primary care clinics. It then became a large managed care organization (MCO) under the government-sponsored Medicaid and Medicare programs, and through the state insurance marketplaces.&nbsp;Molina operates on a national scale, but it is up against larger peers such as UnitedHealth, which had its fair share of woes this year, Humana, Cigna, Centene, and Elevance Health, born out of the merger between Anthem and WellPoint Health in 2004.<h4 class="st-heading-4" style="text-align:center;">Molina Vs Peers (Valuation)</h4><img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/koyfin_20251231_031833562_png_aaa504dc8f.webp" alt="koyfin_20251231_031833562.png">Source: Koyfin (data as of Dec. 29)About 95% of Molina’s third-quarter revenue came from premiums. Commenting on the quarterly results, CEO Joseph Zubretsky said:<blockquote>“The headline for the quarter is that approximately half of our underperformance is driven by the Marketplace business, and that Medicaid, while experiencing some pressure, is producing strong margins.”</blockquote>Quarterly revenue has flatlined at around $11 billion, and growth has slowed. The company derives the bulk of its revenue from the Medicare segment (70% of the total Q3 revenue). The changes in Medicaid and Medicare policy, including eligibility standards, funding allocation and reimbursement frameworks, could weigh down on revenue and longer-term margins. After announcing agreements with drug firms to lower prescription drug prices, the president said he would also meet with insurers to reduce prices.&nbsp;In a note released in early December, Cantor Fitzgerald said CMS Medicaid work requirement guidance, mandated via Trump’s tax bill, suggests a challenging year ahead for Medicaid, the Fly reported. The new CMS guidance dictates how states can plan to implement Medicaid work requirements and some elements of it, including that Payors cannot help determine if a Medicaid beneficiary is complying with work requirements, came as a surprise, the firm said.Jefferies reduced the price target for Molina in a note released in mid-December. The firm maintained a ‘Neutral’ rating. The firm’s price target cut was to account for its expectations of an enhanced Medicaid Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) build and detailed Trump tax law assumptions, resulting in a slight downward adjustment to the valuation.Retail sentiment toward Molina stock on Stocktwits has improved to ‘extremely bullish’ as of early Wednesday. <ul class="summary-bullets"><li>MFN pricing extended nationwide through Medicaid and to future new medicines.</li><li>Steep direct-to-patient discounts rolled out via TrumpRx, including $35 insulin.</li><li>Additional pharma companies, including Johnson &amp; Johnson, are expected to ink similar deals next week.</li></ul>U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday announced nine new agreements with pharmaceutical companies to lower prescription drug prices for Americans to the lowest levels paid in other developed nations, under what the administration calls a “most-favored-nation” (MFN) pricing framework.With these additions, 14 of the 17 pharmaceutical companies targeted by the administration in August have now signed on.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Big Pharma Roster Expands</h2>The companies named in Friday’s agreements are Amgen, Bristol Myers Squibb, Boehringer Ingelheim, Genentech, Gilead Sciences, GSK, Merck, Novartis and Sanofi.Trump said additional companies, including Johnson &amp; Johnson, are expected to announce similar agreements next week, as the administration continues to expand the program.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Medicaid Savings And Future Drug Pricing</h2>The White House said the agreements apply to drugs used to treat an array of expensive, long-term conditions including type two diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hepatitis B and C, HIV and certain cancers.The administration said every state Medicaid program in the U.S. will benefit from MFN prices on products from the nine companies, which it estimates will save billions of dollars. The agreements also require MFN pricing for all new innovative medicines these companies bring to market.Trump also floated the idea of calling a meeting with insurance companies to discuss further ways to lower healthcare costs, suggesting insurers could significantly reduce prices or face alternative approaches that would direct savings to consumers.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Deep Discounts Via TrumpRx</h2>The administration said the companies are required to offer medicines at steep discounts off list prices when selling directly to American patients through TrumpRx, a government-backed direct-to-patient drug purchasing platform.The administration said patients would see steep price cuts, citing examples such as Amgen’s Repatha at $239 versus&nbsp;list price of $573, Bristol Myers Squibb’s Reyataz at $217 versus $1,449, and Sanofi’s Plavix at $16 versus $756, alongside similar reductions for drugs from Gilead, GSK, Merck and Novartis. The administration also said Sanofi will list its insulin products on TrumpRx at $35&nbsp;for every&nbsp;month’s supply.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Drugmakers Pledge Domestic Investment</h2>Trump said the participating companies have committed to invest at least $150 billion collectively in U.S. pharmaceutical manufacturing in the near term.The administration also said several companies will donate active pharmaceutical ingredients to the Strategic Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients Reserve to strengthen emergency preparedness.
