However, that was just before the U.S. and Israel launched attacks against Iran.&nbsp;&nbsp;For the full year, the group forecast the CPI rate at 3.5% for the all-items and 2.9% for core, which excludes volatile food and energy prices. That’s up from estimates of 2.6% for both in the prior survey done three months ago.&nbsp;Two inflation reports earlier this week also showed rising price pressures in the retail and wholesale markets, adding to bets that the U.S. Federal Reserve’s regime-change efforts might not be all that easy.&nbsp;US 10-year yields topped 4.5%, and with the Iran conflict showing no signs of ending, investors are beginning to get jittery that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz will further deepen the energy disruptions.&nbsp;&nbsp;Generally, when bond yields spike, investors tend to move away from equities, especially technology shares. "It is remarkable that President Trump keeps getting convinced to put Nvidia’s interest ahead of America’s."Evidence of the AI gold rush was further bolstered Thursday by Nvidia’s primary manufacturing partner, Hon Hai Precision Industry, better known as Foxconn, on its robust earnings. Beijing has reportedly signaled to its own domestic firms to prioritize Chinese-made chips. Under the terms of the U.S. license, each of the 10 approved Chinese companies is permitted to purchase up to 75,000 H200 units—Nvidia’s second-most powerful AI processor.According to the arrangement between the U.S. and China, the U.S. government is set to receive 25% of the revenue from these specific China sales. To facilitate this, the chips must pass through U.S. territory before being exported to China.The stakes for Nvidia are immense. Before export controls were tightened in 2023, China accounted for approximately 95% of Nvidia’s advanced chip market and 13% of its total revenue. Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s chief, has previously estimated that China’s AI market alone could be worth $50 billion annually.&nbsp;Lenovo and Foxconn, along with a handful of others, have been selected as the official distributors for the H200 chip sales in China.&nbsp;NVDA’s H200 Chip&nbsp;Nvidia’s flagship H100 and H200 chips are backordered by months globally, with major customers like Microsoft, Meta, and Google-parent Alphabet. Meanwhile, inflation in December came in at 2.7%.Fed officials are widely expected to hold interest rates steady at the next policy meeting slated for March 17-18. Data from the <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">CME FedWatch</a> tool indicates a 97.3% probability that the central bank will hold benchmark interest rates at the current target range of 3.50% to 3.75%.Speaking about the impact of artificial intelligence, Schmid reportedly said while he believes AI and other technologies will ultimately lead to non-inflationary growth, the country was still not “there yet.”While the Kansas City Fed chief said the labor market was in balance, he noted the imbalance in the healthcare sector. According to a Bloomberg report, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City chief Jeff Schmid said on Tuesday that inflation in the U.S. has been above the Fed’s target for almost five years.

It also predicted that initial margin expansions, earnings growth, and higher stock market performance would lead to a real wage growth slowdown and eventual collapse of the consumer economy.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Market Movements</h2>A growing concern among investors about AI disruptions has impacted stock markets in recent days.Last week, Anthropic announced a new security feature in Claude AI that it said would be able to scan code for vulnerabilities and suggest targeted fixes much faster than humans, causing a selloff in cybersecurity stocks.On Monday, Anthropic announced Claude Code’s Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL) capabilities, saying that the AI could help modernize COBOL codebase in quarters instead of years, causing shares of IBM to tumble more than 13%.Meanwhile, U.S. equities were in green on Tuesday at the time of writing. ARK’s Cathie Wood Rebuts Citrini AI Thought Piece, Predicts Opportunities After Near-Term Disruptions

In a post on X on Tuesday, CEO of ARK Invest Cathie Wood said the firm is forecasting that AI will lead to a productivity boom, contribute to growth, and lower inflation. 

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Burry, who has warned about an AI bubble in the past, shared the thought experiment on an X post on Monday.</li><li>The Substack post from Citrini Research and Alap Shah, Co-Founder and CEO at Littlebird, outlined potential ways in which agentic AI could negatively impact the economy over the next two years.</li><li>Dated as a post from June 2028, the experiment proposed that the unemployment rate would rise to 10.2% and the S&amp;P 500 would fall 38% from its Oct. 2026 highs.</li></ul>“The Big Short” investor Michael Burry, best known for spotting and betting against the subprime mortgage crisis, shared a post from Citrini Research about a thought experiment detailing how artificial intelligence agents would impact the world economy in the future.Sharing the research on an X <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/michaeljburry/status/2025957871599374737">post</a> on Monday, Burry said, “And you think I’m bearish.”<figure class="image"><img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/Screenshot_2026_02_23_at_9_40_11_PM_png_74ded78590.webp" alt="Screenshot 2026-02-23 at 9.40.11 PM.png" width="1184" height="915"></figure>&nbsp;The Substack post from Citrini Research, titled The 2028 Global Intelligence Crisis, posed an interesting experiment into the future, outlining potential ways in which agentic AI could negatively impact the economy over the next two years, specifically employment and the stock market.“What if our AI bullishness continues to be right...and what if that’s actually bearish?” the report noted.<h2 class="st-heading-2">The Big Predictions</h2>The thought experiment, co-authored by Citrini Research and Alap Shah, Co-Founder and CEO at Littlebird as well as Managing Partner at Lotus Technology Management, is dated June 2028, when the experiment proposed that unemployment rate had risen to 10.2% and the S&amp;P 500 had fallen 38% from its Oct. 2026 highs.The experiment went on to suggest that while initial human layoffs and AI-led replacement led to margin expansion, higher earnings, and a boost in stocks, even as headline numbers were strong, real wage growth collapsed and white-collar workers lost jobs to machines, eventually leading to “cracks” in the consumer economy.The report suggested that agentic AI could trigger a structural downturn, starting with a collapse in white-collar hiring, eventually leading to reduced consumption, pushing yields lower, and culminating in a systemic shock of “a negative feedback loop with no natural brake” that would result in falling markets, a recession in 2027, and eventual collapse of private credit and the housing market.Citrini said that “the human intelligence displacement spiral” would result in the AI economy continuing to improve while the broader economy would deteriorate.The experiment comes at a time when stock markets are nearing all-time highs and the AI boom is accelerating. Citrini noted that the negative feedback loops have not yet begun, while also adding that some of the scenarios outlined in their experiment would not materialize.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Burry’s Stance</h2>Michael Burry has warned about an AI bubble on multiple occasions, flagging parallels to the 2000 dot-com buildout, and cautioning about overstated asset lives, slowing cloud growth, and widening capex gaps.Burry has also said that massive data-center spending is draining cash flow and forcing big tech firms to rely on debt or creative accounting to protect reported earnings.Meanwhile, U.S. equities declined on Monday.
