Chinese EV maker Li Auto’s (LI) future vehicles will have lidars supplied by Hesai Technology (HSAI), the lidar provider said on Tuesday.
Hesai said that it will supply lidars for all of Li’s EV models in its next-generation assisted driving platform, including the L series, i series, and Mega, to empower the mass production of Li Auto's vehicles with advanced driver-assistance capabilities.
Li has had lidar featuring a 200-meter range and intelligent zoom as a standard across all its new vehicle models since May 2025. Lidar or Light Detection and Ranging is a remote sensing method that uses pulsed laser light to measure and map an environment, helping to create a detailed three-dimensional map of the surrounding area for applications like autonomous driving. All of Li’s vehicle models are equipped with advanced assisted driving.
Hesai and Li Auto have had a close partnership since 2021 and achieved key milestones such as the development and mass production of automotive-grade lidars.
HSAI shares soared 8% in the pre-market session at the time of writing. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around HSAI stock jumped from ‘neutral’ to ‘extremely bullish’ territory over the past 24 hours, while message volume jumped from ‘low’ to ‘high’ levels.
