Marvell Technology Inc. (MRVL) stock is in focus as the company is showcasing a new generation of 2-nanometer optical connectivity technologies at the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) 2026. This demo comes amid AI data centers demanding faster links between accelerators, processors and memory without sharply increasing power use.
ECOC is Europe’s largest conference and exhibition focused on fiber-optic communications and optical networking. It is currently underway in Málaga, Spain, with more than 340 exhibitors, AI-infrastructure sessions and advanced demonstrations.
MRVL stock was trading more than 2% higher in Monday’s premarket trading.

Marvell's demonstrations include the first 2nm 400G-per-lane optical PAM4, a 2nm 800G ZR/ZR+ pluggable with security features, and 2nm 1.6T ZR and coherent-lite technologies, according to the company.
These products are designed to increase bandwidth density while reducing power per bit as AI infrastructure scales.
Its advanced optical and silicon design leverages leading-edge process nodes to deliver improvements in performance, bandwidth density, and power critical to efficiently scaling AI infrastructure, the company said.

Faster AI chips are only useful if enormous volumes of data can move between them quickly enough. AI data-center architectures are moving from 1.6T to 3.2T connectivity and beyond, increasing the need for faster, more power-efficient optical links. Marvell's 400G-per-lane demonstration is intended to support that transition, while the 1.6T technologies target high-bandwidth connections both within and between data-center facilities.
The company is also demonstrating its 102.4-terabit-per-second co-packaged optics platform, which integrates optical connectivity more closely with AI accelerators and switch silicon as conventional copper connections hit distance and power limits.
At ECOC, Marvell plans to feature 38 technology demonstrations spanning 224G SerDes, 1.6T optics, coherent interconnects, and optical memory fabrics, extending its broader push to address connectivity bottlenecks as AI systems scale.

Separately, Lumentum (LITE), Qualcomm (QCOM) and Corning (GLW) will demonstrate a high-density optical die-to-die interconnect for AI scale-up systems at ECOC.
The setup combines Qualcomm’s interface technology, Lumentum’s 1060 nm VCSEL optical platform and Corning multimode fiber, targeting higher-bandwidth, lower-power links as AI systems push beyond the practical limits of electrical connectivity.
On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around MRVL stock remains bearish. So far this year, the stock has rallied more than 173%. In comparison, the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX), which holds MRVL stock, rose nearly 70% over the same period.
