  • Meta and Giphy extended their longstanding partnership to make GIFs and stickers available across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
  • Giphy’s relationship with Meta goes back to 2015, when it was chosen as the inaugural app partner for Facebook Messenger.
  • Giphy’s library of content is widely used by Meta’s Gen Z and millennial audience, especially on Instagram.

Social media giant Meta Platforms (META) and Giphy, the popular GIF image search engine and a unit of Shutterstock (SSTK), extended their longstanding partnership on Tuesday.

As part of the extension, Giphy’s library of GIFs and stickers will remain available across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.

Significance Of Giphy Partnership

Content from Giphy is heavily relied on by Gen Z and millennial audiences using Meta’s social media apps to make reels and post stories, and to share them in chats, especially on Instagram.

At the same time, Giphy’s library of over 10 billion items complements Meta’s apps, which sees 3.58 billion daily active users.

Giphy said the renewed partnership reflects their shared focus on making digital communication more visual, immediate, and intuitive.

"People don't always want to type how they feel. They want to show it," said Kevin Hein, Chief Growth Officer at Giphy. "Giphy makes that possible across Meta's apps every day. This ongoing partnership ensures that experience stays seamless as communication continues to evolve."

Giphy’s relationship with Meta dates back to 2015, even before it was acquired by Shutterstock, when it was chosen as the inaugural app partner for Facebook Messenger.
