The chipmaker, which along with Micron is at the center of a memory boom, said its sales rose 372% to $8.97 billion, beating Wall Street’s expectation.Western Digital is fast exercising a $4 billion buyback plan it approved in February. Micron&nbsp;has been more restrained due to a limit on buybacks as part of its receiving grants from the U.S. government under the CHIPS Act, which lifts in December.UBS recently said that Micron might announce a towering buyback then and could end up repurchasing more than 40% of its shares by 2026.<h2 class="st-heading-2">AI Boom Is Generating Record Cash&nbsp;For Memory Makers</h2>The race to buy back company stock comes in the backdrop of surging memory sales, which have resulted in record free cash flows. Micron, SanDisk and Western Digital together reported $25.9 billion in free cash flow in the last reported quarter (Micron’s quarter ended in May, for the others June), up nearly three times from $9.5 billion in the sequentially prior quarter. &nbsp;<figure class="image"><img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/Microns_Western_Digitals_FCF_Is_Seen_Rising_Even_More_19ac652f6a.png" alt="Microns_Western_Digitals_FCF_Is_Seen_Rising_Even_More.png" width="1600" height="1134"></figure>Note: The chart denotes quarters as per the calendar year.FCF for Micron and Western Digital are expected to rise in the coming quarters. Part of that is earmarked for capacity expansion.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Memory Capacity Expansion</h2>Micron and Sandisk are both expanding manufacturing to meet AI-driven memory demand, but with different approaches.&nbsp;Micron has committed to invest more than $250 billion in the U.S. through 2035, anchored by new DRAM fabs in Boise, Idaho and Clay, New York, while also expanding its Manassas, Virginia facility and recently breaking ground on a $24 billion NAND fabrication plant in Singapore.&nbsp;The company is also adding manufacturing capacity in Taiwan following its acquisition of PSMC’s P5 fab.&nbsp;Sandisk is not building greenfield fabs on its own but is deepening its long-standing manufacturing partnership with Kioxia in Japan, extending their joint venture at the Yokkaichi and Kitakami NAND plants through 2034. As part of the deal, Sandisk will pay $1.165 billion between 2026 and 2029 to secure manufacturing services and supply. &nbsp;<figure class="image"><img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/Memory_Cap_Ex_Expected_To_Rise_Further_1_bc20ec44d0.png" alt="Memory_CapEx_Expected_To_Rise_Further (1).png" width="1600" height="1134"></figure> The other part of the FCF is expected to go into buybacks. CEO David Goeckeler said SanDisk is focused on building durable free cash flow while reducing the historical cyclicality of the NAND market through long-term customer agreements.“Our technology and products are well positioned to create value for our customers and generate growing and durable free cash flow,” he said in the earnings statement.To be sure, SanDisk’s guidance came below analysts’ high expectations, causing the stock to plummet to nearly 9% in overnight trading. Still, memory demand is exceptionally high.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Memory Demand Robust, But Stocks Turn Weak</h2>Elon Musk on Tuesday&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/mu-sndk-skhy-stocks-in-focus-elon-musk-says-memory-demand-is-growing-200-a-year-maybe-higher-calls-it-a-limiting-factor/cZo41r7RJIG">said</a> memory demand is not growing at 20% a year, which would already be high for the segment, but is instead rising 200% or more year over year, adding that such dynamics naturally position for a sharp price increase.&nbsp;&nbsp;Still, memory stocks have tapered off of late, with investors booking profits after sharp rallies until June. Micron stock plunged 29% in July, marking its worst monthly performance since June 2005. Once it becomes clear that returns aren’t measuring up to the scale of those outlays, a pullback in financing and stock prices could ensue, WSJ tech columnist Asa Fitch&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.wsj.com/tech/ai/how-an-ai-bust-could-ripple-through-the-global-economy-40163f9c?mod=article_inline">wrote</a>, citing the report.The spending would surely slow at some point. In 2026, rising oil prices pushed up costs and created a tougher challenge for airlines to manage expenses.The Q2 financial prints highlight a stark industry-wide headwind: a sudden, massive surge in fuel prices that has added billions in unplanned operating costs. Delta reported absorbing the highest quarterly fuel expense in its history, with average fuel prices reaching $3.93 per gallon, while United reported a staggering $2.3 billion year-over-year increase in fuel expense for Q2 alone, pushing its average fuel price to $4.19 per gallon.&nbsp;Despite rising fuel costs, both airlines beat Wall Street’s expectations by raising fares, expanding premium travel, and strengthening loyalty programs. The key difference emerged in what came next: while Delta maintained a more cautious outlook, United increased its 2026 earnings forecast.<h2 class="st-heading-2">United’s Execution Stands Out&nbsp;</h2><a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/DAL">Delta</a> reported adjusted revenue of $17.7 billion with adjusted earnings of $1.56 per share, premium products overtaking main cabin revenue, and a 15% dividend hike.Delta's adjusted fuel expense skyrocketed 77% year-on-year to $4.4 billion, with the average price per gallon jumping 75% to $3.93. Under CEO Scott Kirby, the airline reduced less profitable flights, focused on higher-value routes and managed to protect earnings. As a result, United’s revenue climbed 16% from a year earlier to $17.67 billion, in line with analyst expectations.&nbsp;<figure class="image"><img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/fiscal_ai_chart_export_1_png_7abc1061e9.webp" alt="fiscal-ai-chart-export (1).png" width="1400" height="1000"></figure>United Airlines (UAL) provided a stronger earnings outlook compared with Delta Air Lines (DAL). For the third quarter of 2026, United expects adjusted EPS between $2.50 and $3.50, while Delta sees an EPS of $2.00 to $2.50. For the full year, United increased its adjusted EPS guidance to $9.00 to $11.00, whereas Delta maintained its existing outlook of $6.50 to $7.50.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Morgan Stanley Says United’s Strategy Is Paying Off</h2>Morgan Stanley analyst Ravi Shanker increased his price target for United Airlines to $190 from $185 while maintaining an ‘Overweight’ rating on the stock, implying a 60% upside to the stock’s last closing price.&nbsp;&nbsp;The analyst said the airline industry is entering a period in which carriers have greater ability to increase fares as customers continue to accept higher travel costs.Shanker’s view centers on a major change in the industry’s long-term business model. Airlines have historically struggled with cycles of excess capacity and weak pricing, but tighter industry discipline and stronger consumer demand could help carriers maintain healthier margins.The analyst said United’s recent Q2 performance supports the argument that airlines are moving away from years of aggressive competition that pressured profits. UAL Vs DAL: United And Delta Delivered Strong Quarters – But One Earnings Detail Could Matter More

As the once high-flying cloud stock has tumbled over the past month on concerns over its debt load and business fundamentals, calls to buy the dip have grown louder.Oracle presents a compelling mix of opportunity and risk in the AI market. The stock is down 50% from its 2026 high on June 1 and 62% from its peak last September, making its valuation increasingly attractive. However, the pace at which the company has been piling on debt to fund new AI capacity – much of it tied to recently won business from OpenAI,&nbsp;whose competitive positioning and delayed IPO have come under scrutiny&nbsp;– has sharply increased Oracle’s risk profile.In that sense, Oracle’s future depends not only on its ability to execute – such as bringing additional cloud capacity online in a timely manner – but also on factors beyond its control. And not to forget, an ever-changing investor sentiment toward AI spending and returns, as well as the looming second-quarter tech earnings season, could have an outsized influence on the stock’s performance.Still, after the recent slump, analyst and trader views appear to have shifted in favor of Oracle.<figure class="image"><img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/koyfin_20260717_124132021_png_7638f33557.webp" alt="koyfin_20260717_124132021.png" width="1800" height="1200"></figure>&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">ORCL Stock: Why Analysts Still See Upside</h2>Earlier this month, William Blair added Oracle to its July conviction list, a list of stocks the research firm believes have the strongest potential to outperform over the next six months. The research firm said Oracle’s $638 billion RPO and growing customer diversification supported a compelling long-term growth story despite investor worries over AI infrastructure spending.Meanwhile, RBC (Sector Perform), Cantor Fitzgerald (Overweight), BMO (Outperform), Piper Sandler (Overweight), Stephens (Equal Weight), Citigroup (Market Outperform), Morgan Stanley (Equal Weight/Mixed), Scotiabank (Sector Outperform) have largely maintained their ratings, per their most recent disclosures.&nbsp;Currently, 37 out of 43 analysts rate the stock ‘Buy’ or higher, five rate it ‘Hold,’ and only one rates it ‘Sell,’ according to Koyfin. Their average price target of $251.85 is more than double ORCL’s closing price on Thursday.However, investors also took note when S&amp;P Global Ratings announced last week that it was downgrading the credit rating of the software and AI cloud computing giant from BBB to BBB-, one notch above speculative-grade, or junk-bond, ratings.Oracle’s “growing AI infrastructure business is diluting its strong business risk profile,” S&amp;P analysts wrote. They added that they had previously “underestimated the scale of the investments required to expand the AI business and its impact on our overall view of Oracle’s creditworthiness.”<h2 class="st-heading-2">ORCL’s Debt Woes</h2>Last month, Oracle reported fourth-quarter results that beat expectations and said its backlog surged 363% to a record $638 billion. In the fiscal year just ended, Oracle raised $43 billion in debt financing and $5 billion in equity.While raising debt to fund expansion isn’t inherently a negative, Oracle’s reliance on OpenAI and the AI startup’s weakening position have raised concerns around the ORCL investment case.Anthropic is now valued above OpenAI and is also reported to have a higher annualized revenue run rate. With reports that OpenAI has pushed its IPO to next year, coupled with Apple’s lawsuit alleging trade secret theft, concerns around the AI startup’s business have intensified in recent months.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Retail Eyes ORCL Opportunity</h2>Even though analysts generally stay constructive, investors have become increasingly focused on leverage, capex and OpenAI concentration risk. Still, retail traders are eyeing an opportunity here.The bull case is that Oracle enjoys deep relationships with customers and investors, has a strong execution track record, and there are few fundamental signs that its debt-fueled expansion is running into roadblocks, while demand for AI cloud infrastructure remains robust.Over the past year, Oracle has reduced its workforce by 21,000 employees as part of a restructuring effort aimed at improving operational efficiency and integrating AI. As of May 31, 2026, the company had a total workforce of 141,000, compared to 162,000 as of the same period last year.On Stocktwits, retail sentiment for ORCL has risen since late last month, moving inversely with the stock’s decline. Over the last 30 days, message volume for the ticker has risen over 750%, and watcher count has increased 4.2%, suggesting fresh interest from retail traders.“$ORCL just keep in mind these are the opportunities that people wish they have. Everyone always says they wish they bought at whatever price. This is your opportunity. It can be scary but Oracle isn't going anywhere. Now the Indian government is aiming to blend 30% ethanol in petrol by 2030.However, the sugar industry hasn’t yet benefited from the success of ethanol blending as the sector’s share in the national ethanol program has plunged from 73% to 28% in just two years.Capacity Present, But Not Enough UtilizationIndia has the capacity to produce 952 crore litres of ethanol per year, with the potential to divert 40 lakh tonnes of sugar.
