The Bitcoin ecosystem continues to evolve with innovations like Ordinals, which emerged in January 2023 to enable NFT-like functionality directly on Bitcoin, and BRC-20 tokens, an experimental standard for creating fungible tokens using Ordinal inscriptions. BTCFi (Bitcoin Finance) represents emerging financial applications extending beyond Bitcoin's traditional role, with protocols like Babylon allowing Bitcoin holders to stake BTC to secure Proof of Stake chains.

This system achieves deterministic finality through a Unique Node List of trusted validators who must reach an eighty percent agreement threshold to permanently record transactions. This infrastructure supports a sustained throughput of 1,500 transactions per second and includes a built-in decentralized exchange that allows for the automated trading of any tokenized asset without intermediaries.  The project traces its origins back to 2004 with Ryan Fugger before being co-founded in its modern form by Jed McCaleb and Chris Larsen. The company, now known as Ripple, works with major financial institutions as partners and investors to build global payment solutions. To protect the network from spam, a small amount of XRP is burned during every transaction, and the token is further utilized by institutions as collateral to access traditional markets and manage digital asset infrastructure.  Institutional adoption of the asset reached a major milestone in November 2025 when the SEC approved the first wave of spot XRP ETFs. These products, offered by major issuers including Bitwise, Grayscale, 21Shares, Canary Capital, and Franklin Templeton, are now listed on prominent exchanges like the NYSE Arca, Nasdaq, and Cboe BZX. While Ripple remains a key contributor to the ecosystem, the underlying XRP Ledger continues to operate as an open-source and decentralized network.

The network operates through thousands of independent validator nodes that process transactions and execute smart contracts on the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Smart contracts are self-executing programs written in Solidity that automatically carry out agreements when conditions are met, eliminating intermediaries like banks or brokers.   Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. The asset is increasingly adopted by traditional institutions, with publicly traded companies adding ETH to corporate treasuries to generate staking yields while maintaining blockchain exposure, and in 2024, the SEC approved spot Ethereum ETFs, allowing traditional investors to gain exposure through conventional brokerage accounts.  Ethereum's roadmap focuses on dramatically increasing transaction capacity to over 100,000 per second, reducing confirmation times, and enhancing decentralization while maintaining security against future threats like quantum computing.

(AVR) jumped sharply in pre-market trading on Wednesday after the structural heart specialist unveiled a $200 million equity raise alongside a sizable strategic investment from healthcare technology heavyweight Medtronic.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AVR">AVR shares</a> were up around 17% at the time of writing and were on track to open at their highest levels since March 2025.Anteris announced a proposal to raise $200 million via a public offering of its common stock and grant underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional $30 million of shares at the public offering price.In a separate release, the company said the offer is to sell around 34.8 million shares at $5.75, the stock’s closing price on Tuesday.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Medtronic Investment</h2>Alongside the public offering, Anteris entered into a stock purchase agreement with Medtronic plc (MDT). Under the deal, Medtronic, through a wholly owned unit, will invest up to $90 million in Anteris common stock via a private placement priced in line with the public offering. The transaction is expected to give Medtronic a post-offering ownership stake of between 16% and 19.99% in Anteris.Proceeds from the transactions will be used to support Anteris’ clinical strategy, including continued patient recruitment and execution of the global PARADIGM pivotal trial for the DurAVR Transcatheter Heart Valve (THV) in severe aortic stenosis, expanding manufacturing capacity, and funding ongoing research and development (R&amp;D) at v2vmedtech, a privately owned medical technology company.The DurAVR THV is a biomimetic valve designed to mimic the performance of a healthy aortic valve.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Is Retail Saying?</h2>On Wednesday, retail sentiment for AVR flipped to ‘extremely bullish’ from ‘bearish’ a day earlier, while message volumes increased to ‘extremely high’ from ‘normal’ on Stocktwits.
