Halliburton (HAL) has reportedly been reducing its staff in recent weeks, marking the latest workforce cut in the U.S. oil industry, at a time when costs are rising and oil prices remain low.Reuters <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/world-at-work/halliburton-reduces-workforce-oil-activity-slumps-sources-say-2025-09-05/">reported</a> on Friday, citing two sources familiar with the matter, that the scope of Halliburton’s layoffs was unclear. The oilfield services company implemented the cuts over several weeks, sources directly involved in the layoffs told Reuters, adding that at least three business divisions lost between 20% and 40% of their employees.Halliburton, however, did not confirm the layoffs when contacted by the news agency. United Therapeutics Corporation (UTHR) announced on Tuesday that its study evaluating the use of nebulized Tyvaso Inhalation Solution for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) demonstrated improvement in lung function relative to placebo.The late-stage study enrolled 597 patients across multiple locations, and Tyvaso demonstrated superiority over placebo in terms of the change in absolute forced vital capacity by 95.6 mL from baseline to week 52 in patients with IPF. Absolute forced vital capacity (FVC) is a measurement used to gauge lung health, referring to the total volume of air in liters that a person can forcibly exhale after taking a deep, maximum inhalation.Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, or IPF, is a scarring disease of the lungs of an unknown cause. It is characterized by the progressive loss of the ability of the lungs to transfer oxygen into the blood, ultimately resulting in respiratory failure and death. United Therapeutics estimates there are over 100,000 IPF patients in the United States.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/UTHR">UTHR stock</a> traded nearly 36% higher at the time of writing. Data from the ongoing study is expected in the first half of 2026, and the company plans to meet with the FDA before the end of the year to discuss ways to expedite the review process once the data is in, the company said.Following the announcement, multiple analysts hiked their price target on UTHR.<ul style="list-style-type:square;"><li>BofA raised its price target to $463 from $314 and kept a ‘Neutral’ rating on the shares. The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) on Wednesday said that it has approved Biogen Inc.’s (BIIB) Zuranolone to treat moderate or severe postnatal depression (PPD) in adults following childbirth.Postnatal depression is a type of depression that many parents experience after having a baby and is marked by feelings of sadness, irritability, anxiety, loss of interest, extreme fatigue, appetite changes, among others. One in every ten women is affected by postnatal depression within a year of childbirth, as <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/mhra-approves-zuranolone-to-treat-postnatal-depression-in-adults-following-childbirth">per </a>MHRA.Biogen’s Zuranolone, under the brand name Zurzuvae, is the first oral treatment for postnatal depression approved in the UK, the agency said.The drug comes as a capsule and should be taken orally at night with a fat-containing meal for 14 days. UK Regulator Approves Biogen’s Drug For Treating Postnatal Depression

Serious TEAEs occurred in 3% of patients treated with Cemdisiran, 9% with cemdi-poze, and 14% with placebo, the company said. However, there were no treatment discontinuations due to adverse events through week 24 in the Cemdisiran arm, it added.The company also said that there were no deaths during the 24-week placebo-controlled portion of the trial. During the extension period, however, one death due to pneumonia occurred in the Cemdisiran arm, and one death due to septic shock occurred in the combination arm. The agency extended review time after determining that information provided since the completion of a recent inspection of a third-party manufacturer constituted a major amendment to each submission. Kerrisdale Capital on Tuesday revealed a short position on autonomous trucking company Aurora Innovation (AUR), alleging that the firm does not have a viable business model.Kerrisdale <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.kerrisdalecap.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Kerrisdale-Aurora.pdf">said</a> that the market for autonomous trucking is far too small and the profit pool available to Aurora from it is “puny.” Shares of AUR fell 7% on Tuesday morning. While Aurora is optimistic that some other firm will step up to put up the physical hubs, no one has till now, it said.Meanwhile, executives at Volvo and Paccar, Aurora’s partners for physical trucks, told Kerrisdale that autonomous trucks will cost at least 50% more than regular trucks.
