The Bitcoin ecosystem continues to evolve with innovations like Ordinals, which emerged in January 2023 to enable NFT-like functionality directly on Bitcoin, and BRC-20 tokens, an experimental standard for creating fungible tokens using Ordinal inscriptions. BTCFi (Bitcoin Finance) represents emerging financial applications extending beyond Bitcoin's traditional role, with protocols like Babylon allowing Bitcoin holders to stake BTC to secure Proof of Stake chains.

The platform hosts over $14 billion in DeFi applications with hundreds of thousands of active users across financial protocols, NFT marketplaces, and gaming platforms. Its transition to Proof of Stake in September 2022 reduced energy consumption by over 99%, addressing environmental concerns while strengthening network security.  The network operates through thousands of independent validator nodes that process transactions and execute smart contracts on the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Smart contracts are self-executing programs written in Solidity that automatically carry out agreements when conditions are met, eliminating intermediaries like banks or brokers.   Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. Ethereum's roadmap focuses on dramatically increasing transaction capacity to over 100,000 per second, reducing confirmation times, and enhancing decentralization while maintaining security against future threats like quantum computing.

Analyst Deepak Mathivanan noted that while Booking’s underlying fundamentals remain solid, uncertainty around AI developments could weigh on valuation multiples in the near- to medium-term.Oppenheimer noted the shares are trading at depressed valuations due to concerns about potential AI disruption, which it believes are overstated. While the firm slashed the price target to $6,000 from $6,500, it maintained an ‘Outperform’ rating.Barclays cut Booking’s price target to $5,500 from $6,250 while maintaining an ‘Overweight’ rating, according to The Fly. However, it still represents a 40% premium over the current price of about $3,954. BKNG Stock Falls To Over 16-Month Lows – Brokerages Flag AI-Related Uncertainties

Multiple brokerages, including Barclays and Oppenheimer, slashed their price targets despite a better-than-expected fourth quarter print.

Gross Bookings, which measure the total value of transactions across its services, climbed 22% YoY to $54.1 billion.Uber ended the quarter with unrestricted cash, short‑term securities, and equivalents totaling $7.6 billion. Royal Caribbean CEO Flags Historic Booking Momentum Heading Into 2026

In the fourth-quarter earnings call, Liberty stated that recent demand trends show continued strength across pricing and occupancy.

(MMYT) fell over 12% on Wednesday after the company received target price cuts from Morgan Stanley and Citi following its third-quarter (Q3) 2026 results.Citi cut MakeMyTrip’s price target to $96 from $108, while maintaining a ‘Buy’ rating on the shares after its earnings results.Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley lowered its price target on MakeMyTrip to $106 from $113 while maintaining an ‘Overweight’ rating on the shares.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Earnings Results</h2>The company missed revenue estimates, reporting quarterly revenue of $295.7 billion, compared to analyst expectations of $310 billion, as per Fiscal.ai data.However, MakeMyTrip beat analyst expectations on earnings per share, reporting $0.07 EPS for the quarter, versus an expectation of $0.01.For the quarter, the company’s adjusted net profit grew to $51.4 million versus $44.9 million in the same period last year, an improvement of $6.5 million. The company also reported a 11.8% increase in gross bookings. The company’s profit for the quarter decreased almost 73% year-on-year to $7.3 million in Q3 26, compared to $27.1 million in Q3 25.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Street Consensus</h2>Morgan Stanley said it lowered its price target on MakeMyTrip after the company's latest earnings report. The analyst said it lowered its estimates to moderate the expected pace of margin expansion for FY27 and FY28, according to TheFly.Meanwhile, Citi said that it views MakeMyTrip’s growth as solid amid "challenging circumstances," according to TheFly. <ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Top U.S. airlines have announced the cancellation of hundreds of flights scheduled for Friday.</li><li>More than 760 planned Friday flights were cut from airline schedules, according to FlightAware, a real-time flights-tracking service.</li><li>The aviation regulator on Thursday published a list of 40 airports where it has asked flight traffic to be reduced.&nbsp;</li></ul>Airline operators began canceling flights at major airports across the U.S. on Thursday and removed hundreds of scheduled trips from their schedules for Friday, following orders from authorities.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Cancelations</h2>United Airlines Holdings, Inc. said on Thursday it would cancel 4% of its flights scheduled for Friday through Sunday. That would be 200 cancellations on Friday alone, according to the airline’s statement to the Financial Times.&nbsp;American Airlines Group, Inc. announced it would cancel approximately 220 flights per day from Friday to Monday, also representing a 4% reduction. Delta Air Lines, Inc. said it would cancel about 170 flights on Friday. Alaska Air, the US’s fifth-biggest carrier, said it had begun cancelling a “limited number of flights” on Friday.More than 760 planned Friday flights were cut from airline schedules, according to FlightAware, a real-time flights-tracking service.UAL and DAL stocks dropped 1% and 1.3%, respectively, on Thursday, while AAL shares declined 2%.Earlier this week, the Federal Aviation Administration&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/delta-american-ual-southwest-stocks-slip-after-hours-faa-orders-10-cut-in-us-flights-on-government-shutdown-chaos/cL2tX4wREbX">ordered</a> a 10% reduction in traffic at the busiest airports to maintain travel safety, as air traffic controllers show signs of strain amid the shutdown.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Aviation Order Details</h2>On Thursday, the agency published&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.faa.gov/newsroom/us-transportation-secretary-sean-p-duffy-faa-administrator-bryan-bedford-outline-series">a list of 40 airports</a> where traffic would be curtailed, including some of the busiest, such as those in New York and San Francisco. The order goes into effect on Friday.&nbsp;“We are seeing signs of stress in the system, so we are proactively reducing the number of flights to make sure the American people continue to fly safely,” FAA Federal Aviation Administrator Bryan Bedford said in a statement.&nbsp;“The FAA will continue to closely monitor operations, and we will not hesitate to take further action to make sure air travel remains safe.”  &nbsp;As part of the order, the FAA said airlines must provide full refunds, excluding secondary costs.
