Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. Helios has already secured 800 megawatts of approved and committed power capacity, with an additional 1.7 gigawatts (GW) under various stages of development and permitting. At full buildout, the campus could reach 3.5 GW.Moreover, Galaxy has secured a 15-year, 393-megawatt (MW) commitment from CoreWeave, which is expected to generate $700 million in annual revenue at full capacity. Following Wednesday’s 7.4%&nbsp;plunge,&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/CORZ">CORZ stock</a>&nbsp;is headed for its worst week since early August.Dover, Delaware-based Core Scientific, a data center infrastructure and crypto mining company, has agreed to be taken over by Nvidia-backed CoreWeave (CRWV) in an all-stock transaction. Core Scientific shareholders would receive 0.1235 newly-issued Class A common stock for every CORZ stock they hold, translating to a total deal value of about $9 billion compared to Core Scientific’s current market capitalization of $5.471 billion.Buoyed by artificial intelligence (AI)-related demand for infrastructure and the CoreWeave deal, the stock has been on a broader uptrend since the post-tariff lows seen in early April. The stock had hit an all-time high of $20.36 (intraday) on Oct. 16 but has since retreated from the peak.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What’s Ailing CORZ Stock&nbsp;</h2>The recent weakness in Core Scientific stock may be partly attributed to the crypto market's weakness amid an uncertain geopolitical backdrop. <a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/bitcoin">Bitcoin</a> has lost about 14% from its Oct. 6 peak of $126,198.07, indicating it is in correction territory.Core Scientific derives a bulk of its total revenue from digital asset self-mining and hosted mining. The second-quarter results released in early August showed that roughly 87% of the total revenue of $78.6 million was derived from these two segments. Colocation revenue related to high-performance computing hosting contributed only $10.6.Additionally, proxy advisory firms ISS and Glass Lewis have opposed the CoreWeave deal, urging Core Scientific shareholders to vote against the latter’s sale to the former.In a statement, Glass Lewis said, “The market's prolonged discount of the deal's implied value to Core Scientific's share price—combined with the absence of any mechanisms to mitigate downside risk—indicates that the proposed exchange does not adequately compensate Core Scientific shareholders for the risks inherent in the CoreWeave consideration.”&nbsp; Two Seas Capital, one of the largest Core Scientific shareholders, has also opposed the proposed transaction.Responding to the development, CoreWeave said in a statement released late Wednesday that it disagreed with the proxy firms’ rejection call. “While neither ISS nor Glass Lewis questions the strategic merit of the transaction, both base their recommendations largely on the current Core Scientific stock price and overlook the risks of a standalone Core Scientific,” it said.In a CNBC interview CEO, CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/21/coreweave-ceo-on-core-scientific-deal-as-shareholder-opposition-rises.html">said</a> earlier this week that Core Scientific would be a “nice to have” rather than a necessity, adding that CoreWeave would not sweeten its offer.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Retail’s Feeling About Core Scientific Stock</h2>On Stocktwits, retail sentiment toward Core Scientific stock remained ‘bullish’ as of early Thursday, although down from the ‘extremely bullish’ sentiment seen from a week ago. Circle’s Stock Falls To 3-Week Lows Amid Crypto Market Sell-Off 

Stocktwits data showed that chatter around Circle’s stock increased 120% over 24 hours, as of Friday morning.

Digital asset company, Bitdeer Technologies Group (BTDR), generated 196 Bitcoins in May, registering an 18% month-over-month increase.&nbsp;The company saw a considerable increase in its Bitcoin production and expansion across international sites, including the U.S., Norway, Bhutan, and Ethiopia.Bitdeer also said that it shipped 1.6 EH/s worth of SEALMINER A2 rigs to external clients while deploying an equal amount for its operations across Texas and Norway.&nbsp;An additional 2.6 EH/s is currently en route to sites in Texas and Bhutan. Testing for its next-generation SEALMINER A3 series has shown favorable outcomes, with pre-orders launching later this month.&nbsp;Development of the SEALMINER A4 remains on schedule for initial chip production in late 2025.“In May 2025, we continued to deploy our SEALMINER mining rigs to our sites in Texas, U.S., Norway, and Bhutan, bringing Bitdeer’s self-mining hashrate to 13.6 EH/s at the end of the month of May,” said Chief Business Officer, Matt Kong.Bitdeer’s Tydal facility in Norway is finalizing the installation of hydro cooling and utility systems. Meanwhile, the 221-megawatt (MW) site in Massillon, Ohio, is on track for phased completion between the third and fourth quarters of 2025.&nbsp;In Bhutan, the 500 MW Jigmeling location has begun energization, with major transformer installations and cooling components expected to wrap up by late August.The company has paused development at its 570 MW site in Clarington, Ohio to assess growing opportunities in high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI).&nbsp;Bitdeer is also piloting an AI Cloud service, using more than 10 large language models to meet enterprise-level inference needs. Bitdeer Mines 196 Bitcoins In May, Eyes AI Future With $50M Capital Boost: Retail On The Fence 

The company also expanded global operations, advanced SEALMINER tech, and paused an Ohio project to explore AI. 

Shares of&nbsp;Bitdeer Technologies Group (BTDR) traded 11.7% lower in Thursday’s morning session&nbsp;after it reported first-quarter earnings below Wall Street expectations.&nbsp;The crypto mining platform&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://ir.bitdeer.com/news-releases/news-release-details/bitdeer-reports-unaudited-financial-results-first-quarter-2025">reported</a>&nbsp;a&nbsp;revenue slump of 41.3% year-on-year (YoY) to $70.1 million in the quarter, missing the analyst consensus estimate of $73.81 million,&nbsp;as per Finchat data.Quarterly loss per share of $0.37 also missed the consensus estimate of a loss of $0.29&nbsp;per share.Self-mining revenue increased 23.1% YoY to $37.2 million, whereas Cloud Hash Rate, General Hosting, and Membership Hosting revenue declined 99%, 66%, and 16.4%, respectively.The&nbsp;total hash rate under management (EH/s) for the quarter was 24.2, with 175,000 mining rigs.Bitcoin mined in the quarter plunged to 350 compared to 911 bitcoins in the same quarter last year. Average miner efficiency (J/TH) reduced to 29 from 31.7.However, the number of Bitcoins held in the quarter increased to&nbsp;1,156 from 58 last year.The gross profit shrunk to negative $3.2 million from positive $34.1 million in the first quarter (Q1) FY24.&nbsp;Bitdeer held $215.6 million in cash and equivalents as of March 31.&nbsp;“Looking ahead, our R&amp;D efforts are now focused on our SEALMINER A4 project, for which we are targeting an&nbsp;unprecedented chip efficiency of approximately 5 J/TH at the chip level.
