In other words, it is a decentralized blockchain platform that enables developers to build and deploy smart contracts and applications without central authority control. Unlike Bitcoin, which primarily functions as digital currency, Ethereum operates as a programmable global computer where developers can create any type of decentralized service.   The platform hosts over $14 billion in DeFi applications with hundreds of thousands of active users across financial protocols, NFT marketplaces, and gaming platforms. Its transition to Proof of Stake in September 2022 reduced energy consumption by over 99%, addressing environmental concerns while strengthening network security.  The network operates through thousands of independent validator nodes that process transactions and execute smart contracts on the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Smart contracts are self-executing programs written in Solidity that automatically carry out agreements when conditions are met, eliminating intermediaries like banks or brokers.   Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. The asset is increasingly adopted by traditional institutions, with publicly traded companies adding ETH to corporate treasuries to generate staking yields while maintaining blockchain exposure, and in 2024, the SEC approved spot Ethereum ETFs, allowing traditional investors to gain exposure through conventional brokerage accounts.  Ethereum's roadmap focuses on dramatically increasing transaction capacity to over 100,000 per second, reducing confirmation times, and enhancing decentralization while maintaining security against future threats like quantum computing.

Ethereum is currently the subject of intense debate among market participants as the asset tests critical support levels amid shifting institutional interest and broader geopolitical tensions. The community remains highly polarized, with active discussions focused on the launch of new staking ETFs, concerns over institutional accumulation, and divergent technical outlooks regarding potential breakout or retest scenarios.

Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. Riley said it's bullish on Strategy and Strive’s ‘Digital Credit’ approach to borrow money to fund its Bitcoin purchases, but warned that its success is contingent on BTC’s price beating the cost Strategy bears to pay out dividends to its investors.&nbsp;“We believe the dividend yields offered by MSTR's and ASST's preferred instruments (currently 8.0%-12.5%) are meaningfully superior to most traditional yield-oriented alternatives,” wrote analyst Fedor Shabalin. “We expect the attractive yield to increasingly draw income-focused investors seeking consistent, above-market cash distributions.”Even under more conservative BTC return assumptions relative to historical performance, the spread between BTC's long-term CAGR (~62%) and the cost of preferred capital (~8.0%-12.5%) provides justification for the DAT model for ASST and MSTR, in our opinion.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Are SATA and STRC?</h2>Strive At-The-Money Perpetual Preferred Stock (SATA), Strategy's Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC), and Series F Perpetual Preferred Stock (STRF) fund Bitcoin purchases for Strive and Strategy while paying out with fixed dividends to investors.SATA offers an initial annual dividend rate of 12%, higher than STRC's 10.5%, and targets a trading range of $95 to $105 per share as compared to STRC's tighter band of between $99 and $100.&nbsp;The strategy allows the companies to acquire more Bitcoin without diluting their common stock. Strategy is currently the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin with 738,731 BTC in its coffers. Meanwhile, ASST has around 13,131 BTC on its balance sheet.<h2 class="st-heading-2">MSTR Stock Price Target</h2>B. Riley put a price target of $175 on MSTR’s stock, which implies a potential upside of nearly 26% from Monday’s closing. The average price target for MSTR’s stock is $394.38, implying a potential upside of 183%, according to Koyfin data. GLXY Stock Gains Pre-Market: Citi Sees Structural Upside But Not A Sprint For Galaxy Digital

GLXY stock gained in pre-market trading on Wednesday after Citi said Galaxy Digital’s diversification is a double-edged sword in a note to investors.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>eToro reported that the number of funded accounts on the platform rose by 9% year-on-year to 3.81 million in Q4.</li><li>The company’s Assets under Administration also increased 11% YoY to $18.5 billion.</li><li>eToro’s net income during the quarter registered a 16% YoY increase to $69 million, while net contribution declined 10% YoY to $227 million.</li></ul>eToro Group (ETOR) shares gained nearly 13% in Tuesday’s pre-market trade after the company’s fourth-quarter (Q4) earnings and the enhancement of its share repurchase program lifted investor sentiment.eToro reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.71, beating Wall Street expectations of $0.59, according to Stocktwits data.The company’s net contribution, which reflects total revenue less total costs related to user activity, was $227 million, while Wall Street expected $218 million.eToro’s revenue in Q4 stood at $3.87 billion, compared to $5.84 billion during the same period a year ago.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Funded Accounts Rise In Q4</h2>eToro reported that the number of funded accounts on the platform rose by 9% year-on-year to 3.81 million in the fourth quarter. The company’s Assets under Administration (AUA) also increased 11% YoY to $18.5 billion.Net income during the quarter registered a 16% YoY increase to $69 million, while net contribution declined 10% YoY to $227 million.“Our fourth quarter results reflect the strength and resilience of our multi-asset business model. We delivered compelling financial performance through a combination of diversified revenue streams, healthy funded accounts growth, and disciplined financial management,” said eToro CFO Meron Shani.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Capital Markets Activity Surges, Crypto Trades Plunge 50% In January</h2>eToro stated in its report that capital markets activity on its platform surged in January 2026. The company said the total number of capital market trades on its platform soared 55% YoY to 74 million, while the invested amount per trade rose 8% YoY to $252.However, crypto trades on eToro plummeted to four million in January, down 50% YoY. Invested amount per trade also fell to $182, down 34% YoY.<h2 class="st-heading-2">eToro Enhances Share Repurchase Program</h2>eToro also announced an enhancement to its share repurchase program by $100 million, adding to the previously-authorized quantum of $150 million.The company noted that it has used up $100 million of its previous authorization, leaving a remaining authorization of $150 million following the increase.<h2 class="st-heading-2">How Did Stocktwits Users React?</h2>Retail sentiment on Stocktwits around&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETOR">eToro</a> soared on Tuesday, entering the ‘extremely bullish’ territory from ‘neutral’ a day ago. However, retail sentiment around the company on Stocktwits continued to trend in ‘bearish’ territory over the past day.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Helios Data Center Could Drive Significant Value</h2>Morgan Stanley noted that Galaxy’s Helios data center, once fully built out and contracted, could rank among the world’s largest single-campus high-performance computing facilities.It estimated the Helios project could be worth more than $30 billion in terminal equity value—a forward-looking measure of the company’s estimated equity worth once the data center reaches full scale and revenue potential. Helios has already secured 800 megawatts of approved and committed power capacity, with an additional 1.7 gigawatts (GW) under various stages of development and permitting. At full buildout, the campus could reach 3.5 GW.Moreover, Galaxy has secured a 15-year, 393-megawatt (MW) commitment from CoreWeave, which is expected to generate $700 million in annual revenue at full capacity. Following Wednesday’s 7.4%&nbsp;plunge,&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/CORZ">CORZ stock</a>&nbsp;is headed for its worst week since early August.Dover, Delaware-based Core Scientific, a data center infrastructure and crypto mining company, has agreed to be taken over by Nvidia-backed CoreWeave (CRWV) in an all-stock transaction. Core Scientific shareholders would receive 0.1235 newly-issued Class A common stock for every CORZ stock they hold, translating to a total deal value of about $9 billion compared to Core Scientific’s current market capitalization of $5.471 billion.Buoyed by artificial intelligence (AI)-related demand for infrastructure and the CoreWeave deal, the stock has been on a broader uptrend since the post-tariff lows seen in early April. The stock had hit an all-time high of $20.36 (intraday) on Oct. 16 but has since retreated from the peak.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What’s Ailing CORZ Stock&nbsp;</h2>The recent weakness in Core Scientific stock may be partly attributed to the crypto market's weakness amid an uncertain geopolitical backdrop. <a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/bitcoin">Bitcoin</a> has lost about 14% from its Oct. 6 peak of $126,198.07, indicating it is in correction territory.Core Scientific derives a bulk of its total revenue from digital asset self-mining and hosted mining. The second-quarter results released in early August showed that roughly 87% of the total revenue of $78.6 million was derived from these two segments. Colocation revenue related to high-performance computing hosting contributed only $10.6.Additionally, proxy advisory firms ISS and Glass Lewis have opposed the CoreWeave deal, urging Core Scientific shareholders to vote against the latter’s sale to the former.In a statement, Glass Lewis said, “The market's prolonged discount of the deal's implied value to Core Scientific's share price—combined with the absence of any mechanisms to mitigate downside risk—indicates that the proposed exchange does not adequately compensate Core Scientific shareholders for the risks inherent in the CoreWeave consideration.”&nbsp; Two Seas Capital, one of the largest Core Scientific shareholders, has also opposed the proposed transaction.Responding to the development, CoreWeave said in a statement released late Wednesday that it disagreed with the proxy firms’ rejection call. “While neither ISS nor Glass Lewis questions the strategic merit of the transaction, both base their recommendations largely on the current Core Scientific stock price and overlook the risks of a standalone Core Scientific,” it said.In a CNBC interview CEO, CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/21/coreweave-ceo-on-core-scientific-deal-as-shareholder-opposition-rises.html">said</a> earlier this week that Core Scientific would be a “nice to have” rather than a necessity, adding that CoreWeave would not sweeten its offer.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Retail’s Feeling About Core Scientific Stock</h2>On Stocktwits, retail sentiment toward Core Scientific stock remained ‘bullish’ as of early Thursday, although down from the ‘extremely bullish’ sentiment seen from a week ago.
