While sales of the company’s battery electric passenger vehicles rose a whopping 20% to 237,540 units, sales of plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles dived a deeper 22%.</p><p>According to the automaker, its Dynasty and Ocean mass-market product lines accounted for a whopping majority of its passenger vehicle sales in the month with 423,558 units sold. The company also sold 703 units of its premium electric brand Yangwang.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Export Increase &nbsp;</h2><p>The company, however, ramped up its export volume last month to 131,935 units from 30,977 units in November 2024 as intense competition continues within its home ground. Last month, Reuters reported that BYD is planning to sell up to 1.6 million vehicles outside of China next year, up from the 900,000- 1 million vehicles expected this year.</p><p>For 2025, the company aims to deliver a total of 4.6 million vehicles, up from the 4.27 million sold in 2024. As of the end of November, the company had already sold 4.18 million vehicles, comprising both passenger and commercial vehicles.</p><p>BYD is China’s largest EV maker. The company stopped making purely internal combustion engine vehicles in March 2022 and, since then, has made “new energy vehicles,” a wider term that encompasses both battery electric vehicles and That marked a 29.41% jump from the second quarter and a 7.39% year-on-year increase, marking a momentum TrendForce attributed in part to U.S. subsidy deadlines and Tesla’s return to quarterly growth in China.</p><p>The company’s performance widened the competitive pressure on BYD, though BYD continued to hold the overall lead in fully electric models.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Other Chinese Automakers Gain Ground</strong></h2><p>A wave of Chinese manufacturers also showed sharp gains. Geely Auto and Leapmotor recorded strong momentum, taking 6% and 4.1% of global BEV share, respectively. Xpeng ranked sixth with 3.1%, while Xiaomi ranked eighth with 2.9%.</p><p>In the plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) segment, Aito, Chery, and Geely took the next three spots behind BYD.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Li Auto Loses Ground Amid Intensifying Competition</strong></h2><p>Li Auto, the runner-up in PHEV sales in the second quarter, had its share challenged as additional automakers entered the fray with extended-range EVs. Black said fully autonomous ride-hailing is a commodity business where Chinese manufacturers like Baidu, Pony.ai, and WeRide already complete around 450,000 paid fully autonomous rides each week and plan to license their technology broadly.</p><p>“I have said for years that unsupervised autonomy is table stakes for anyone in the automotive business, and that prediction looks more prescient every day,” Black added, noting that few Wall Street models project meaningful profits from autonomous ride-hailing or humanoid robots. “It’s hilarious that Tesla bulls cheerlead without even attempting to justify Tesla’s valuation.”</p><p>Black concluded that Tesla’s 200x forward price-to-earnings ratio is “difficult to justify in what is clearly a commodity business… where Tesla is one of many fighting for market share.”</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Tesla Turns To Rentals As US Sales Slide</strong></h2><p>Amid a sharp slowdown in U.S. demand following the end of the federal EV tax credit, Tesla has launched a new short-term rental program at select stores. In 2026, the company is eyeing an overseas sales volume of 1.5 to 1.6 million vehicles. The growth in volume, as per Citi which met with BYD management on Tuesday, will apparently be driven by new model launches.</p><p>According to Citi’s report, the Europe, North America, and ASEAN regions accounted for one-third of total overseas sales in 2025, Reuters noted.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Decline In Capex</h2><p>The company also expects a significant decline in capital expenditure in 2026 as vehicle and battery production capacity meet demand, the report added.</p><p>Citi, however, did not divulge the company’s overall sales target for next year, Reuters noted. For 2025, the company aims to deliver a total of 4.6 million vehicles, up from the 4.27 million sold in 2024. BYD Eyes High Double-Digit Sales Growth Overseas In 2026: Report

According to a Reuters report on Tuesday, citing a Citi report, the EV maker is doubling down on overseas expansion as competition intensifies at home.

Tesla Sales In Germany More Than Halve In October Despite EV Demand Growth

Tesla sold just 750 cars in Germany in October, marking a dip of 54% year-over-year.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>The company’s China-made EV sales came in at 61,497 units in October.&nbsp;</li><li>This marks a drop of 9.9% year-on-year and a drop of 32.3% month-on-month.&nbsp;</li><li>Tesla’s rival BYD, meanwhile, reported a 12% drop in global sales to 441,706 units last month.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</li></ul><p>Tesla’s (TSLA) China-made electric vehicle sales reportedly fell 9.9% to 61,497 units in October from a year earlier.</p><p>Reuters <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/teslas-china-made-ev-sales-fall-99-yy-october-2025-11-04/">reported</a> on Tuesday, citing data from the China Passenger Car Association, that this marks a 32.3% drop from September numbers. According <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://cnevpost.com/2025/11/04/tesla-china-oct-2025-wholesale/">to</a> CnEVPost, this is also the lowest monthly number since May.</p><p>Tesla manufactures the Model 3 and Model Y at this Shanghai gigafactory, both for sale in China and export to select external markets, including Europe.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Rival Performance</h2><p>Meanwhile, Tesla’s biggest rival BYD Co (BYDDY, BYDDF) saw global passenger battery electric vehicle <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www1.hkexnews.hk/listedco/listconews/sehk/2025/1102/2025110200113.pdf">sales</a> rise 17% to 222,559 units last month.</p><p>However, overall vehicle sales fell a deep 12% to 441,706 units, marking the second consecutive month of decline. BYD, unlike Tesla, makes both battery electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Model Y, 3 Variants In China</h2><p>Tesla announced a longer version of the Model Y SUV in China in August with a starting price of 339,000 yuan ($47,605.67), 29% more expensive than the base variant of the SUV. The vehicle features three rows of six seats and is also longer than the average Model Y, measuring approximately 196 inches, compared to 189 inches for the other variants. This variant of the SUV is unavailable in the U.S., and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously said that the variant will not start production in the U.S. until at least the end of next year.</p><p>Meanwhile, the company is yet to launch the standard and cheaper versions of either the Model Y or 3 in China. They were unveiled in the U.S. last month.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">How Did Stocktwits Users React?</h2><p><a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/TSLA">TSLA stock</a> is down by about 2% in the pre-market session.
