<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>A Novo executive noted that many customers are unaware that the company already makes oral semaglutide for type 2 diabetes under the name Rybelsus, sparking the branding change.</li><li>Novo also said on Wednesday that it has filed an application with the FDA seeking approval for Ozempic tablets 25 mg in adults with type 2 diabetes.</li></ul><p>Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk (NVO) said on Wednesday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved naming pill versions of some doses of its semaglutide for the treatment of type 2 diabetes as Ozempic pills.</p><p>Novo has been selling oral semaglutide for diabetes since 2019. However, it was previously called Rybelsus and was available at 3 mg, 7 mg, and 14 mg doses. Ozempic pills will be available in doses 1.5 mg, 4 mg, and 9 mg.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Why The Name Change?</h2><p>“By bringing the oral and injectable options under the Ozempic name, we’re helping make it clear that both contain semaglutide from Novo Nordisk and are approved to treat type 2 diabetes. The medicine and how it works remain the same; this simply makes the choices clearer to understand. The new formulation offers the same efficacy and safety profile as the originally approved formulation, the company said, while adding that the new doses were approved based on a bioequivalence study and the clinical trial program for Rybelsus tablets.</p><p>Novo got the approval of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the Wegovy pill in December last year and launched it in early January. The weight-loss drug has had a great kickstart so far.</p><p>Novo also said on Wednesday that it has filed an application with the FDA seeking approval for Ozempic tablets 25 mg in adults with type 2 diabetes. <ul class="summary-bullets"><li>The company flagged concerns for the year including fierce competition, lower realized prices, and expiry of patent on the active ingredient in its best-selling Wegovy and Ozempic drugs in a few markets outside the U.S.&nbsp;</li><li>The updated guidance comes on the heels of the company reporting full-year 2025 net sales of DKK309.06 billion, below an analyst estimate of DKK346.97 billion.</li><li>Novo’s sales from its diabetes segment remained more-or-less flat on a reported basis in 2025 at DKK207.11 billion while sales from its obesity segment increased 26% in Danish kroner to DKK82.35 billion.</li></ul><p>Shares of Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk (NVO) plummeted 14% on Tuesday after the company said that it sees fiscal 2026 adjusted sales down 5% to 13% as it gears up to face pricing headwinds and a competitive market.</p><p>The company <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://ml-eu.globenewswire.com/Resource/Download/7c7c1d6f-42c0-4e8f-821c-93ff9a0858c0">flagged </a>concerns for the year including fierce competition, lower realized prices, and expiry of patent on the active ingredient in its best-selling Wegovy and Ozempic drugs in a few markets outside the U.S.</p><p>Novo also sees adjusted operating profit fall as much as 13% in fiscal 2026 at constant exchange rates.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">2025 Earnings</h2><p>The updated guidance comes on the heels of the company reporting full-year 2025 net sales of DKK309.06 billion ($48.94 billion), up 6% year-over-year on a reported basis, but below an analyst estimate of DKK346.97 billion.</p><p>Diluted earnings per share for the year came in at DKK23.03, up from DKK22.63 in 2024, and below a Wall Street estimate of DKK23.4.</p><p>Operating profit, meanwhile, decreased by 1% in Danish kroner to DKK127.66billion.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Executive Take</h2><p>CEO Mike Doustdar said that 2025 was a "challenging year” for the company.</p><p>“However, we are very encouraged by the promising early uptake from the US launch of Wegovy pill, and we remain confident in our ability to drive volume growth over the coming years,” Doustdar said.</p><p>“Also for this year, we look forward to regulatory decisions for next-generation treatments, such as Mim8 within haemophilia and CagriSema within obesity, as well as a number of exciting R&amp;D read-outs, including phase 3 read-outs for etavopivat and ziltivekimab," he added.</p><p>Novo got the approval of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the Wegovy pill in December last year and launched it in early January. The drug has had a great kickstart so far.</p><p>In contrast, rival Eli Lilly and Co. (LLY) is still awaiting FDA approval on its oral weight-loss drug, giving Novo a few months of solid head start to cement its position in the market. Novo Nordisk Shares Tumble On 2025 Earnings Miss, Weak Sales Forecast And Competition Concerns

The stock already discounts a Sharon deal, said Keefe, which also has concerns around Bitfarms's rising leverage and elevated capex.&nbsp;</p><p>Keefe said it would get more constructive on the shares with greater clarity on the company's liquidity and 2026 capex.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Capital Raises</h2><p>Bitfarms in October had said that it has closed its offering of $588 million aggregate principal amount of 1.375% convertible senior notes due 2031. It said that Interest coupon will be payable semi-annually in arrears on January 15 and July 15 of each year, beginning on July 15, 2026.</p><p>Bitfarms had also converted a private debt facility for up to $300 million from Macquarie Group’s Commodities and Global Markets business, to an up to $300 million project-specific financing facility for the development of its data center campus in Panther Creek, Pennsylvania.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">AI Data Center Push</h2><p>Bitfarm in 2024 had entered into the definitive lease agreement and assumed control of its newest data center in Sharon, Pennsylvania, initially announced on June 13, 2024.</p><p>This site represented Bitfarms’ first mega-site in the U.S. with access to up to 120 MW.&nbsp;</p><p>Bitfarms has planned to wind down its Bitcoin mining operations by 2027, and its transition will begin with its 18-megawatt site in Washington State.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">LatAm Exit Deal</h2><p>BITF earlier in the month said it has entered into a share purchase agreement to sell its 70 MW site in Paso Pe, Paraguay, to the Sympatheia Power Fund (SPF), a crypto infrastructure fund managed by Singapore-based Hawksburn Capital.</p><p>The deal was valued at $30 million. As per the report, this is a stronger debut than observed with Novo’s injectable Wegovy or its rival Eli Lilly and Company’s Zepbound.</p><p>Last week, it was reported that the Wegovy pill hit 3,071 U.S. prescriptions in just the first four days after its launch on Jan 5.</p><p>NVO shares traded marginally in the green on Friday at the time of writing.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Wegovy Pill Approval</h2><p>Oral obesity pills are expected to be the next major innovation in the obesity market, doing away with needles and offering customers more flexibility and ease.</p><p>The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the Wegovy pill to reduce body weight and maintain weight reduction for a longer term in December.</p><p>The Wegovy pill is now the first FDA-approved oral GLP-1 class drug for weight management and marks a crucial step forward for the company in its ongoing efforts to protect market share from rival Eli Lilly, whose injectable GLP-1 drug Zepbound is fast taking over Wegovy’s market dominance. The company launched the Wegovy pill earlier this month, starting at $149 a month.</p><p>Novo’s rival Lilly, meanwhile, is looking forward to getting FDA approval for its oral obesity drug Orforglipron by April. Novo now has a few months’ head start against Lilly to cement its customer base.</p><p>On Thursday, Goldman Sachs raised its price target on Novo Nordisk to DKK 436 from DKK 352 while keeping a ‘Buy’ rating on the shares. The firm believes investor focus in the first half of 2026 will be the launch for Novo's Wegovy pill. Novo Nordisk In Green After Oral Wegovy Clocks Over 18K Prescriptions In A Week

This refers to technology allowing for making insulin-producing cells from stem cells for diabetes treatment and modifying cells to evade the immune system, thereby avoiding immune rejection. The privately-held company will now lead its development, manufacturing and commercialisation.</p><p>Novo, in turn, will make an additional equity investment in Aspect and provide research funding. It will also retain rights to expand its role in late-stage development and commercialisation as well. &nbsp;</p><p>Novo Nordisk will be eligible to receive royalties and milestone payments on future product sales from Aspect. However, the companies didn’t provide the financial terms of the agreement.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Novo On Lookout For More</h2><p>Last week, Novo said it is on the lookout for merger and acquisition deals to boost its drug portfolio.</p><p>Novo’s CEO Mike Doustdar said during the annual JP Morgan Healthcare conference that the company will continue searching for molecules, assets, and companies that are complementary to its portfolio. These patients were ineligible for high-dose chemotherapy, the company said.</p><p>Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common and aggressive type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a blood cancer involving rapid growth of large B-lymphocytes in the lymphatic system, lymph nodes, and other organs, often presenting as fast-growing masses or swollen nodes with symptoms like fever, night sweats, and weight loss. According to Genmab, there are approximately 25,000 new cases of DLBCL diagnosed each year in the U.S.</p><p>The company said it intends to now engage with regulatory authorities to discuss the next steps for the drug together with its partner AbbVie. It primarily affects exocrine glands, leading to excessive dryness, with over 90% of patients experiencing dry eyes and dry mouth.</p><p>According to Novartis, 50% of people with Sjögren’s are undiagnosed, though it is the second-most prevalent rheumatic autoimmune disease.</p><p>Novartis looks to submit data from its many trials of Ianalumab with health authorities starting in early 2026 for potential approval. NVS Stock Rises After FDA Grants Breakthrough Therapy Designation For Autoimmune Disorder Treatment

This would allow for the generation of new insights and allow for greater automation across workflows, the company said.</p><p>Shares of AZN traded marginally in the green at the time of writing.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Partnership To Acquisition</h2><p>Modella announced a multi-year deal with AstraZeneca in 2025 aimed at integrating its generative and agentic AI platform into AstraZeneca’s oncology research and development organization.</p><p>The collaboration was aimed at supporting efforts to accelerate clinical development and enhancing biomarker discovery.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">First Patient Dosing In New Late-Stage Trial</h2><p>Separately, AstraZeneca announced earlier on Tuesday that the first patient has been dosed in a late-stage trial evaluating Datroway compared to docetaxel in patients with certain types of locally advanced or metastatic nonsquamous non-small cell lung cancer.
