Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. An antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) is a type of cancer therapy that combines a targeted antibody with a chemotherapy drug to deliver the drug directly to cancer cells, minimizing damage to healthy cells.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Terms Of The Funding Deal</h2>Merck is currently evaluating the drug in 15 global late-stage trials spanning six tumor types, including breast, endometrial, and lung cancers. The funding agreement will help fund a portion of the development costs in 2026.Blackstone, in return, will be eligible to receive low-to-mid single-digit royalties on net sales of the drug contingent upon receipt of regulatory approval in the U.S. for first-line treatment of triple-negative breast cancer. Blackstone, however, will not receive any right to the drug.Sac-TMT was developed by Sichuan Kelun Pharmaceutical Co. The company granted Merck the exclusive rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialize sac-TMT in all territories outside of Greater China, including Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, under a deal.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Merck Assumes Responsibility For MK-8690</h2>Separately, Merck <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.merck.com/news/merck-signs-agreement-with-dr-falk-pharma-gmbh-for-certain-development-and-commercialization-rights-to-mk-8690-pra-052-an-investigational-anti-cd30-ligand-monoclonal-antibody/">announced</a> on Tuesday that it has reached an agreement through a unit with Germany’s Dr. Falk Pharma GmbH to discontinue a contract signed in 2020 concerning co-development and co-commercialization rights in certain territories for MK-8690, an investigational drug targeting inflammatory bowel diseases. Merck has now assumed full responsibility for the development program.Dr. Falk will receive $150 million upfront as part of the deal termination and will continue to be eligible to receive payments associated with development milestones, as well as royalties on sales in certain territories.Merck said that it will record a pre-tax charge to research and development expenses of $150 million, or Thermo Fisher Adds Clario Holdings In A $9.4B Deal – Its Third Acquisition In 2025

The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) on Wednesday said that it has approved Biogen Inc.’s (BIIB) Zuranolone to treat moderate or severe postnatal depression (PPD) in adults following childbirth.Postnatal depression is a type of depression that many parents experience after having a baby and is marked by feelings of sadness, irritability, anxiety, loss of interest, extreme fatigue, appetite changes, among others. One in every ten women is affected by postnatal depression within a year of childbirth, as <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/mhra-approves-zuranolone-to-treat-postnatal-depression-in-adults-following-childbirth">per </a>MHRA.Biogen’s Zuranolone, under the brand name Zurzuvae, is the first oral treatment for postnatal depression approved in the UK, the agency said.The drug comes as a capsule and should be taken orally at night with a fat-containing meal for 14 days. UK Regulator Approves Biogen’s Drug For Treating Postnatal Depression

The company is now working with the FDA on the safety labelling process and risk-mitigation approach for non-ambulatory individuals. Wells Fargo on Thursday raised its price target on Sarepta Therapeutics, Inc. (SRPT) to $50 from $48 after the company’s second-quarter earnings beat Wall Street expectations on Wednesday.Wells’ new price target of $50 implies nearly 208% upside potential from the stock’s closing price on Wednesday. Both non-ambulatory patients suffered from acute liver failure.Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive weakness and chronic inflammation of the skeletal, heart, and respiratory muscles. The disease primarily impacts boys.Sarepta has now resumed shipments for ambulatory individuals after a temporary pause initiated in late July. The company is now working with the FDA on the safety labelling process and risk-mitigation approach for non-ambulatory individuals, CEO Doug Ingram said on Wednesday.For the second quarter, Sarepta reported total revenues of $611.1 million, above an analyst estimate of $531.04 million, owing to higher net product revenue of Elevidys. Adjusted and diluted earnings per share came in at $2.02, up from $0.43 in the corresponding quarter of 2024, and above an analyst estimate of $0.67.The company also said that it is on track to realize over $100 million in cost savings through the end of 2025 as part of the restructuring announced in July.
