Spirit Aviation (FLYY) was on the retail traders’ radar on Wednesday after the low-cost airline reportedly revealed plans for further job cuts and a reduction in flight schedule in November to cut costs, weeks after declaring its second bankruptcy in less than a year.According to a CNBC report, Spirit CEO Dave Davis wrote to employees in a memo that the company will see a 25% cut in capacity, compared to 2024, as it “optimizes” its network to focus on the “strongest markets.”The <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/09/17/spirit-ceo-flight-cuts.html">report</a> further stated the cuts were similar in scale to the ones made after Spirit emerged from its first bankruptcy in March through June. Frontier Group (ULCC) stock experienced a surge in retail chatter, as investors believed the airline could gain market share following rival Spirit Airlines' second bankruptcy filing.The stock jumped 14.5% on Tuesday, compared with a near 1% decline of the S&amp;P 500 Passenger Airlines index. Frontier Group Sees Surge In Retail Chatter After Rival Spirit's Second Bankruptcy — Analyst Expects Lower Domestic Competition

Spirit Airlines (FLYY) has reportedly held high-level talks with Frontier Group (ULCC) amid the struggling airline’s ongoing efforts to move forward after emerging from bankruptcy.According to a Bloomberg News report, citing a person familiar with the matter, Spirit Chairman Robert Milton spoke with Bill Franke, the Frontier chair, earlier this week near Spirit’s headquarters in Dania Beach, Florida. Frontier Chair Reportedly Met Spirit Airlines Counterpart — No Deal Discussed Yet

The conversation in Florida centered on Spirit’s efforts to rebuild and the broader state of the U.S. airline industry, according to a report by Bloomberg News.

Frontier Group Holdings Inc. (ULCC) is reportedly aiming to capture the customers of its budget rival Spirit Aviation Holdings Inc. (FLYY) as the company announced new routes on Tuesday.According to a CNBC&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/26/frontier-routes-spirit-airlines.html">report</a>, Frontier Airlines announced plans to start operating on 20 new routes this winter. Many of these routes coincide with major Spirit markets, such as the struggling carrier’s base at Fort Lauderdale International Airport in Florida, the report added.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ULCC">Frontier’s shares</a> were up nearly 2% in Tuesday’s pre-market trade, while&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/FLYY">Spirit’s shares</a> rose nearly 3%. Retail sentiment on Stocktwits around Frontier was in the ‘neutral’ territory, while users felt ‘bullish’ about Spirit.According to the report,&nbsp;which cited a note from Deutsche Bank analyst Michael Linenberg, Frontier has the highest overlap with Spirit than with any other airline, at 35% of its capacity. Frontier Airlines Targets Customers Of Cash-Strapped Spirit Airlines With 20 New Routes: Report

According to a CNBC report, many of these routes coincide with major Spirit markets, such as the struggling carrier’s base at Fort Lauderdale International Airport in Florida.

JetBlue Airways (JBLU) CEO Joanna Geraghty revealed that an anticipated break-even in 2025 is looking unlikely amid weak travel demand.According&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/06/17/jetblue-cost-cuts.html">to</a> a CNBC report, Geraghty announced a slew of measures to bring costs under control as the struggling airline attempts to turn its fortunes around.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/JBLU">JetBlue shares</a> were down 2.52% at the time of writing.In a note to employees dated Monday, Geraghty stated that the company is still relying on borrowed funds for its operations.“We’re hopeful demand and bookings will rebound, but even a recovery won’t fully offset the ground we’ve lost this year and our path back to profitability will take longer than we’d hoped,” she added, warning of turbulence ahead for the carrier.Geraghty also announced that the airline will pause retrofitting and park some of its Airbus jets in the fleet to trim operational costs.She added that JetBlue is looking at the “size and scope” of the leadership team, and that it has identified ways to “combine or restructure certain roles for greater efficiency at the leadership level.”It’s not clear if Geraghty is hinting at layoffs, but these comments come a year after JetBlue’s failed acquisition of&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/FLYY">Spirit Airlines</a> (FLYY).In May, the airline announced a partnership named Blue Sky with&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/UAL">United Airlines</a> (UAL), allowing both companies to sell seats on each other’s websites.
