Hyperscalers are not just players in the economy, said Visser.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Nasdaq Now Tracks AI Capex Boom, Not Economy</h2>The Nasdaq (NDAQ) is increasingly dominated by hyperscalers and tied to the AI capex cycle, said Visser.&nbsp; He suggested that the index is less representative of the broader economy and is more driven by a few big tech companies making huge investments in AI.As these businesses ratchet up expenditure, Visser says, the Nasdaq will serve as a proxy for growth in AI infrastructure, rather than for traditional economic health, meaning its success will depend on continuous capex from hyperscalers rather than cyclical fundamentals like consumer demand or housing.Visser said that, with crypto in the spotlight, Bitcoin is a prime beneficiary of the trend. “As capital becomes increasingly concentrated in large tech platforms, Bitcoin offers a decentralized alternative,” he said. Bitcoin is “outside the system” and is deemed to be relevant in a world of heavy AI-driven spending,” he said. This level is the average entry price for traders who bought Bitcoin within the past 155 days. Such short-term holders tend to be more sensitive to price moves than longer-term holders.&nbsp;The report said that a move toward $80,000 would push more than 54% of recent buyers into profit. The level that has historically coincided with the exhaustion of bear market rallies, Glassnode noted, adding that this marks the second time in the current cycle that Bitcoin has approached this threshold.It stated that as Bitcoin approaches the breakeven zone, the incentive to sell increases, creating natural resistance.However, Glassnode stated that Bitcoin recently reclaimed its ‘True Market Mean’ of around $78,100 for the first time since mid-January. Strong buying momentum continued last week, with Bitcoin ETFs purchasing 8,572 BTC in a single day and nearly 24,200 BTC over the last 10 days, pushing holdings close to prior highs.

Hunt on Thursday&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-ndil/pr/texas-man-who-orchestrated-20-million-cryptocurrency-scam-sentenced-23-years-prison">sentenced</a> Robert Dunlap to 23 years in federal prison and ordered him to pay restitution to nearly 1,000 victims. “Defendant lied to investors for years,” prosecutors wrote in the sentencing filing, adding that his claims grew more elaborate over time.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Fake Asset Claims Drove $20 Million Crypto Scheme</h2>Prosecutors said Dunlap spent years promoting “Meta-1 Coin,” a digital asset he falsely claimed was supported by $44 billion in gold as well as roughly $1 billion in art, and positioned himself as the operator of the ”Meta-1 Coin Trust.” He also told investors the assets had been independently audited, but authorities found no such holdings existed.A federal jury in the Northern District of Illinois convicted Dunlap last year on mail fraud charges tied to the scheme, which ran from 2018 to 2023. Investigators said he used fabricated documents to give the appearance of legitimacy while concealing that the assets did not exist.“Robert Dunlap didn’t just take money—he took years of hard work, trust, and financial security from his victims,” said Adam Jobes of IRS Criminal Investigation.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Crypto Fraud Rising Across the Industry, FBI Says</h2>According to a&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.ic3.gov/AnnualReport/Reports/2025_IC3Report.pdf">report</a> by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), released earlier this month, scams are increasingly becoming crypto-based. It stated that crypto-related fraud accounted for the largest share of the cyber-enabled fraud, totaling more than $11 million. Cryptocurrency also accounted for almost three-quarters of investment fraud, far outpacing traditional payment methods such as bank cards or cash.The overall cryptocurrency market rose 1.4% over the last 24 hours to around $2.65 trillion, after Bitcoin (BTC) briefly crossed $76,000. $20 Million Van Gogh, Picasso, Dali ‘Art’ Crypto Scam Lands Texas Man Over 20 Years In Prison

The project, “Meta-1 Coin,” was falsely marketed as being backed by billions in gold and valuable artwork.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>The US Department of Justice opened a claims process on Monday, allowing victims of the $4 billion OneCoin Ponzi scheme to seek compensation from recovered funds.</li><li>OneCoin founder Ruja Ignatova promoted the token as a “Bitcoin killer” before disappearing in 2017.</li><li>U.S. authorities have secured convictions against key figures, including the co-founder and former legal head, with 20 and 4-year prison sentences, respectively.</li></ul>The US Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Monday the launch of a remission process allowing victims of the OneCoin scam to apply for compensation from forfeited assets, in a case tied to ‘Cryptoqueen’ Ruja Ignatova.The funds are derived from criminal forfeiture actions related to federal prosecutions in the Southern District of New York. Authorities say the OneCoin Ponzi scheme duped investors of more than $4 billion worldwide, involving victims in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and China. A part of the seized money, which presently exceeds $40 million, will be made available to qualified claimants who file applications by June 30.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Rise Of The ‘Cryptoqueen’ And OneCoin’s Collapse</h2>According to a 2019 BBC&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bbc.com/news/stories-50435014">report</a>, Ignatova branded herself the “Cryptoqueen” and launched OneCoin in 2014. She promoted it as a direct rival to Bitcoin (BTC), which sparked a frenzy in the market at the time.&nbsp;The report explained that she described the token as a “Bitcoin killer,” claiming it would become the world’s leading cryptocurrency, beating Bitcoin, which was valued at over $500 per coin at the time. However, investigators later found that OneCoin had no underlying blockchain and operated entirely as a global Ponzi scheme. Docuseries “Fugitive: The Mystery of the Cryptoqueen,” was also created on Ignatova.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/bitcoin">Bitcoin’s (BTC) price</a> was trading at $75,631 on Tuesday morning, gaining over 5% over the past 24 hours. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around BTC moved to 'bullish' from the ‘neutral’ zone, while chatter stayed at ‘high’ levels over the past day.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Charges, Disappearance, And Ongoing Manhunt</h2>US prosecutors&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/ruja-ignatova/@@download.pdf">charged</a> Ignatova in October 2017 with wire fraud, securities fraud, and money laundering. Ignatova, who had worked as a consultant at an MBB firm before founding OneCoin, disappeared only 2 weeks later. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) placed her on its “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list, while offering a&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://2021-2025.state.gov/reward-for-information-german-national-ruja-ignatova/">reward</a> of up to $5 million for any information on her.The DOJ said on Monday that victims who purchased OneCoin during the scheme’s operation between 2014 and 2019 could now file claims as part of the remission process.OneCoin co-founder Karl Sebastian Greenwood&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/co-founder-multi-billion-dollar-cryptocurrency-pyramid-scheme-onecoin-pleads-guilty">pleaded guilty</a> in December 2022 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison and ordered to pay $300 million in penalties. Additionally, OneCoin’s former head of legal and compliance, Irina Dilkinska, was also&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/head-legal-and-compliance-multibillion-dollar-cryptocurrency-pyramid-scheme-onecoin-0#:~:text=Damian%20Williams%2C%20the%20United%20States,the%20massive%20OneCoin%20fraud%20scheme.">sentenced</a> to four years in prison in April 2024 and ordered to forfeit $111.44 million after pleading guilty to related charges. However, ‘Cryptoqueen’ Ruja Ignatova is yet to be found.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">One Of The Largest Crypto Fraud Cases</h2>The OneCoin case remains one of the “largest global fraud schemes” linked to cryptocurrency. Similar cases emerged in recent years, including&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.justice.gov/archives/opa/pr/bitconnect-founder-indicted-global-24-billion-cryptocurrency-scheme">BitConnect</a>, a crypto lending platform that collapsed in 2018 and was later found to have operated as a Ponzi scheme.
