Miniso Stock Rises On JPMorgan Upgrade Citing Growth In Overseas Markets, But Retail’s Still Bearish

Miniso’s shares have slumped 24% year-to-date due to market concerns and China’s performance, The Fly reported.

U.S.-listed shares of Miniso rose 0.84% in premarket trade on Monday after falling nearly 9% on Friday following mixed fourth-quarter results, with retail sentiment staying downbeat.For its Q4, the company posted earnings per share of $0.36 for Q4, higher than the estimated $0.33. But its Q4 revenue was $650.1 million, 2.4% lower than the expected estimate."We capped off a remarkable 2024 with another quarter of solid operating and financial performance, achieving a record high revenue of around RMB17.0 billion in the full year,” said Guofu Ye, Founder, chairman, and CEO of Miniso.Its overseas markets held strong with year-over-year revenue growth of 41.9% for the full year 2024 with the growth of the brand overseas. DouYu International Holdings ($DOYU) shares jumped on Thursday with nearly 12 times their average volume following an announcement concerning a special cash dividend and the appointment of a new co-CEO.&nbsp;Wuhan, China-based DouYu, backed by Tencent Holdings (<a class="mention" data-mention="$TCEHY" data-symbol-id="TCEHY" href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/TCEHY" target="_blank">$TCEHY</a> EHY), provides a PC and mobile app platform for interactive games and live streaming services.&nbsp;The company said its board approved a special cash dividend of $9.94 per American Depository Share (ADS), payable to shareholders of record as of the close of business on Feb. 10.The company said the aggregate amount of cash dividends will be about $300 million,&nbsp;and they will be paid on Feb. 20.&nbsp;DouYu also said its board appointed Simin Ren as co-CEO, effective Thursday. Her appointment was made as part of the transition under the leadership of the interim management committee that has been heading the company since&nbsp;November 2023.  Tencent-Backed DouYu Stock Soars On Special Cash Dividend, New Co-CEO Appointment: Retail Ecstatic

Shares of MINISO Group Holdings Inc. ($MNSO) were up 3.5% on Friday morning after the retailer posted double-digit revenue growth for its September quarter compared to last year, lifting retail sentiment.For the three months ending Sept. 30, its revenue came in at RMB4,522.6 million ($644.5 million), increasing 19.3% year-over-year (YoY). Adjusted net profit increased 6.9% YoY to RMB686.2 million ($97.8 million).Its adjusted basic and diluted earnings per ADS went up 7.8% from last year to RMB2.20 ($0.31). According to the mean EPS estimates, Miniso was expected to report EPS of CN¥2.41 for the quarter."MINISO's global footprints continue to expand steadily. As of September 30, 2024, the Group's total number of stores reached 7,420 with a net increase of 859 stores in the first nine months of 2024, representing only one step away from our annual target of 900 to 1,100 net new stores," Guofu Ye, founder, chairman, and CEO of MINISO, said in a statement."Both the net growth of stores of MINISO overseas and TOP TOY for the first nine months of 2024 exceeded their net growth of stores for the whole year of 2023. On the group level, revenue grew 23% year over year to RMB12.28 billion, mainly attributable to 19% growth in average store count and low-single digit same-store sales growth. We are well on track to reach our annual target," he added.Retail sentiment on the stock improved to 'extremely bullish' from 'bullish' a day ago.
