Introduced as a "joke currency" on 6 December 2013, Dogecoin quickly developed its own online community and reached a capitalization of US$60 million in January 2014. Dogecoin is primarily used as a tipping system on Reddit and Twitter where users tip each other for creating or sharing good content. The community is very active in organising fundraising activities for deserving causes.  The developers of Dogecoin haven’t made any major changes to the coin since 2015. This means that Dogecoin could get left behind and is why Shibas are leaving Dogecoin to join more advanced platforms like Ethereum. One of Dogecoin strengths is its relaxed and fun-loving community. However, this is also a weakness because other currencies are way more professional. Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency created by Charlie Lee. It was created based on the Bitcoin protocol but differs in terms of the hashing algorithm used. Litecoin uses the memory intensive Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm. Scrypt allows consumer-grade hardware such as GPU to mine those coins.  Why Litecoin? Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

Miniso Stock Rises On JPMorgan Upgrade Citing Growth In Overseas Markets, But Retail’s Still Bearish

Miniso’s shares have slumped 24% year-to-date due to market concerns and China’s performance, The Fly reported.

U.S.-listed shares of Miniso rose 0.84% in premarket trade on Monday after falling nearly 9% on Friday following mixed fourth-quarter results, with retail sentiment staying downbeat.For its Q4, the company posted earnings per share of $0.36 for Q4, higher than the estimated $0.33. But its Q4 revenue was $650.1 million, 2.4% lower than the expected estimate."We capped off a remarkable 2024 with another quarter of solid operating and financial performance, achieving a record high revenue of around RMB17.0 billion in the full year,” said Guofu Ye, Founder, chairman, and CEO of Miniso.Its overseas markets held strong with year-over-year revenue growth of 41.9% for the full year 2024 with the growth of the brand overseas. However, the year-over-year growth of revenue for 2024 in mainland China was 10.9%, down from &nbsp;36.2% year-over year growth in 2023, according to the company.“Overseas revenue contribution under Miniso brand climbed to 39.4% this year, underscoring higher growth potential and the flexibility unlocked by our globalization strategy,” said the company, noting its compound annual growth rate of revenue from its brand in overseas markets exceeds 40% from 2021 to 2024.Ye noted the company’s international store opening outpaced domestic markets for the first time last year. Adjusted net profit increased 6.9% YoY to RMB686.2 million ($97.8 million).Its adjusted basic and diluted earnings per ADS went up 7.8% from last year to RMB2.20 ($0.31). According to the mean EPS estimates, Miniso was expected to report EPS of CN¥2.41 for the quarter."MINISO's global footprints continue to expand steadily. As of September 30, 2024, the Group's total number of stores reached 7,420 with a net increase of 859 stores in the first nine months of 2024, representing only one step away from our annual target of 900 to 1,100 net new stores," Guofu Ye, founder, chairman, and CEO of MINISO, said in a statement."Both the net growth of stores of MINISO overseas and TOP TOY for the first nine months of 2024 exceeded their net growth of stores for the whole year of 2023. MINISO Stock Up Ahead of Q3 Earnings: Retail’s Cheerful

Wall Street analysts expect the company to post earnings per share (EPS) of $0.31 on revenues of $631.04 million. 

NYSE-listed ADSs of Chinese electric-vehicle (EV) startup Nio, Inc. (<a class="mention" data-mention="$NIO" data-symbol-id="NIO" href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/NIO" target="_blank">$NIO</a>) are experiencing volatility on Thursday, as traders take stock of a negative analyst action.A day after the company reported a double miss for the third quarter, Macquarie analyst Eugene Hsiao downgraded Nio ADS from Outperform to Neutral and reduced the price target from $6.60 to $4.80.Commenting on the Shanghai, China-based EV maker’s quarterly performance, Hsiao said weaker demand for core Nio brand and a slower ONVO production ramp led to a 18% revenue miss versus the midpoint of the guidance range.Nio, which has positioned itself as a maker of premium EVs, forayed into the low-end with the mid-September launch of its first vehicle, named L60 under its affordable ONVO brand. Chinese electric-vehicle&nbsp;maker Nio, Inc. (<a class="mention" data-mention="$NIO" data-symbol-id="NIO" href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/NIO" target="_blank">$NIO</a>) is due to report its third-quarter results before the market opens on Wednesday.&nbsp;Peer XPeng, Inc. ($XPEV) announced&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/xpeng-q3-2024-results-beat-consensus-guidance-strong/cJ4U9fmRQN">a double beat for its third quarter&nbsp;</a>and issued an upbeat fourth-quarter guidance&nbsp;on Tuesday. Notwithstanding the solid report, the stock was seen sliding nearly 3%. Nio moved in sympathy, with the stock shedding about 2% at last check.Analysts, on average, expect Shanghai, China-based Nio to report a third-quarter loss of $0.27 per&nbsp;American Depositary Share (ADS) and revenue of $2.64 billion. The company's guidance issued in early September calls for revenue of $2.63 billion-$2.71 billionThis compares to the year-ago loss of $0.31 per share and revenue of $2.61 billion. In the second quarter, the top- and bottom-lines came in at $0.30 and $2.4 billion, respectively.Nio missed revenue expectations in each of the past four quarters and bottom-line estimates in two of the four quarters.The Chinese EV maker reported in early October that it delivered a record 61,855 units in the third quarter, marking a 11.6% year-on-year increase and surrounding the guidance of 61,000-63,000 units.Nio, which positioned itself in the premium market, forayed into the low-end with the launch of its first vehicle, named L60 under its affordable ONVO brand in mid-September.
