The LINK token is the native asset used to pay node operators for services, fund subscription accounts, and incentivize network security through staking. Chainlink was co-founded in 2017 by Sergey Nazarov and Steve Ellis, who co-authored the white paper with Ari Juels, and raised $32 million in its September 2017 ICO.
