eBay Rejects GameStop’s Acquisition Proposal — Calls It ‘Neither Credible Nor Attractive’

A confidential customer booked five dedicated missions on its Neutron rocket and three dedicated missions on its small -sat Electron rocket, spanning 2026–2029, the company said. The deal pushed the company’s total launch manifest above 70 missions and lifted its backlog to over $2.2 billion.The company also disclosed a $30 million multi-launch HASTE hypersonic test contract with defense tech firm Anduril Industries for three missions from Virginia, with the first flight scheduled within 12 months. HASTE is a suborbital testbed launch vehicle derived from Rocket Lab's Electron rocket.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Motiv Space Systems Acquisition</h2>Separately, Rocket Lab signed a definitive agreement to acquire Motiv Space Systems, a California-based company working in space robotics and precision mechanisms whose solar array drives flew on NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover. The deal, expected to close in Q2, will deepen vertical integration for both Neutron and satellite programs, the company said.<h2 class="st-heading-2">RKLB Q1 Snapshot</h2>The announcements capped a strong first-quarter 2026 performance. Revenue reached a record $200.3 million, up 63.5% year-over-year, and beating an analyst estimate of $189.41 million. Diluted loss per share came in at $0.07, compared to a Wall Street estimate of a loss of $0.04.Rocket Lab reaffirmed strong momentum toward Neutron’s debut launch later this year and guided Q2 revenue to $225–$240 million, above an estimated $205.18 million. While revenues came in below Wall Street expectations, Fluence Energy reported a narrower-than-expected loss.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Fluence Energy’s Backlog Soars</h2>The Arlington, Virginia-based company said that it had a record backlog of about $5.6 billion as of March 31. The company also said it had signed master supply agreements with two major hyperscalers, and first orders are expected during the third quarter of this fiscal year."We are beginning to see the benefit of our pipeline growth with an acceleration of orders over the past few months and backlog reaching another record level. We also reached substantial completion on our first delivery of Smartstack and affirmed access to our domestic content offering in the U.S.," said President and CEO Julian Nebreda.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Fluence Energy Q2 Snapshot</h2>Meanwhile, the company reported a 7.7% increase in revenue to about $464.9 million. FLNC Stock Rips Overnight: Record Backlog, Hyperscaler Deals Boost Momentum

Rivian is slated to start deliveries of the top-end variant, priced around $58,000, around June. Deliveries of the other two variants will follow later this year, and in 2027, the company had said.However, in an <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/rivian-developing-variants-its-more-affordable-r2-evs-2026-05-06/">interview </a>with Reuters, Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe reportedly said that the company is eyeing launching other variants. The CEO did not disclose how the additional variants would look, Reuters noted."So clearly there ​could be an ⁠R2X," CEO RJ Scaringe reportedly told Reuters. "There's going to be combinations," he noted, adding that he does not want to announce the program yet.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Rivian’s R2 Roadmap</h2>Rivian commenced production of the R2 SUV in April at its Normal, Illinois, facility. The new vehicle is aimed at expanding Rivian’s total addressable market with a price point much below its current R1 offerings, which have a starting price above $70,000. The standard variant of R2 will be priced around $45,000 to compete with Tesla’s best-selling Model Y SUV.For the whole of 2026, Rivian now expects to deliver 62,000-67,000 vehicles, up from the 42,247 vehicles delivered in 2025, thanks to the boost provided by R2. However, the ramp of R2 delivery will be “back-half weighted,” Rivian CFO Claire McDonough said last week.“As discussed previously, R2 production is starting with a single shift operation, and we expect to scale to 2 shifts by the end of 2026 as we ramp towards our North Star target of profitably delivering 4,000 vehicles per week in Normal,” McDonough said during the company’s first quarter earnings call.The CFO further highlighted that the new vehicle launch will negatively impact the company’s automotive gross profit in Q2 and Q3 before benefiting in Q4 as the company ramps production and deliveries. Why Is AUR Stock Soaring Today?

The CFO called the decision a governance matter in light of the appointment of Silvio Napoli as the company’s new and permanent CEO last month.“With Silvio now on board and conducting his review of the business, we are suspending our prior guidance and we'll provide a full updated outlook at our Q2 earnings call. I want to be clear, this is a governance decision,” Boussaid said.<h2 class="st-heading-2">LCID’s Q1 Print</h2>Lucid’s loss per share for the quarter came in at $2.82, compared to a loss of $2.04 in the corresponding quarter of 2025 and above an analyst estimate of a loss of $2.3. Revenue for the quarter came in at $282.5 million, below a Wall Street estimate of $358.51 million, according to data from Fiscal AI.The company ended the quarter with about $3.2 billion in liquidity, which it expects to suffice into the second half of 2027.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Demand And Inventory</h2>The CFO further added that near-term demand conditions remain uneven, and the firm is managing production cadence accordingly.“We continue to work to closely align production with demand to avoid excess inventory. We are not constrained on capacity. We are constrained by our own discipline not to build inventory ahead of demand,” he said, while adding that Lucid has launched a company-wide program to reduce costs and concentrate capital on the highest return opportunities.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Supplier Issues</h2>Earlier this month, the company reported that it produced 5,500 vehicles but delivered only 3,093 vehicles in the first quarter, owing to a 29-day disruption in the deliveries of its Gravity SUV due to a supplier quality issue with second-row seats, highlighting production and quality challenges. Lucid said on Tuesday that the issue is now resolved, and it has taken action to address the root cause. Delivery momentum subsequently escalated in March and is expected to normalize through the year, the company saidThe company also noted that it ended the quarter with excess inventory of about $1.47 billion, compared to $1.1 billion at the end of the fourth quarter. The company subsequently recorded $228.3 million in “Inventory and firm purchase commitments write-downs” during the quarter.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Lucid’s Upcoming Midsize Platform</h2>Lucid is now looking to scale deliveries and the total addressable market with its midsize platform. LCID Tumbles On Suspended Outlook And Elevated Inventory Alarm

He added that eBay is a very entrenched business and noted that it will do whatever it can to protect itself.“You have a very strong business and if it’s in the hands of a capable operator, it can be a much larger business,” Cohen added.He also noted that GameStop’s position in eBay is currently under 5%. This comprises largely of derivatives, Cohen added, while noting that a small portion of it is stock.Meanwhile, eBay confirmed on Monday that it had received an unsolicited proposal from GameStop.“The Board will review this proposal with a focus on the value to be delivered to eBay shareholders, including the value of the GameStop stock consideration and the ability of GameStop to deliver a binding, actionable proposal,” the company stated.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Morgan Stanley Skeptical About Synergies Between eBay, GameStop</h2>Morgan Stanley analyst Nathan Feather expressed skepticism about the potential synergies between eBay and GameStop, according to a&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://seekingalpha.com/news/4584494-gamestop-launches-bold-56b-takeover-attempt-for-ebay">report</a> by SeekingAlpha.&nbsp;Feather also added that financing would be another key question on investors’ minds.“Regardless of outcome, confirmation of an offer would demonstrate eBay’s increased potential strategic value,” he said.GameStop expects $2 billion in annual cost savings within 12 months of closing the acquisition, with Cohen serving as the CEO of the combined entity.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/EBAY">EBAY stock</a> is up 19% year-to-date, while GME stock is up 32%. (AXSM) closed 13% higher on Thursday, marking its best day in about four months, after the company announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved its drug Auvelity for the treatment of agitation associated with dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease.Auvelity was previously awarded the FDA Breakthrough Therapy designation for Alzheimer’s disease agitation and also priority review.Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, affecting more than 7 million Americans. According to Axsome estimates, agitation is reported in 74% of Alzheimer’s patients with symptoms ranging from pacing or restlessness to verbal and physical aggression.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Clinical Data For Auvelity</h2>The FDA approval is based on data from two late-stage studies. In one of the late-stage studies, Auvelity was statistically superior to placebo in improving agitation symptoms, Axsome said. In the other trial, the patients who continued treatment with Auvelity experienced a statistically significantly longer time to relapse of agitation symptoms.Auvelity is already approved for the treatment of major depressive disorder in adults. The drug has already been administered to more than 300,000 patients in clinical and real-world settings, Axsome said. The company is also studying the drug for smoking cessation.Analysts Weigh In On AXSMMorgan Stanley raised the firm's price target on Axsome Therapeutics to $217 from $207 and kept an ‘Equal Weight’ rating on the shares following Axsome announcing the on-time approval of Auvelity for the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease Agitation.TD Cowen, meanwhile, noted that the label is "clean" with no black box warning for increased risk of death in elderly patients with dementia, differentiating it from the only other approved therapy for ADA, Otsuka’s Rexulti. The firm estimates a peak opportunity of $1 billion in ADA, though it adds "this may be conservative given surveys."
