Distributed Exchange Through the use of its intermediary currency Lumens (XLM), a user can send any currency that they own to anyone else in a different currency.  For instance, if Joe wanted to send USD to Mary using her EUR, an offer is submitted to the distributed exchange selling USD for EUR. This submitted offer forms is known as an order book. The network will use the order book to find the best exchange rate for the transaction in-order to minimize the fee paid by a user.  This multi-currency transaction is possible because of "Anchors". Anchors are trusted entities that hold people’s deposits and can issue credit. In essence, Anchors serves as the bridge between different currencies and the Stellar network.  Lumens (XLM) Lumens are the native asset (digital currency) that exist on the Stellar network that helps to facilitate multi-currency transactions and prevent spams. For multi-currency transactions, XLM is the digital intermediary that allows for such a transaction to occur at a low cost.  In-order to prevent DoS attacks (aka spams) that would inevitably occur on the Stellar network, a small fee of 0.00001 XLM is associated with every transaction that occurs on the network. This fee is small enough so it does not significantly affect the cost of transaction, but large enough so it dissuades bad actors from spamming the network.   Prior to Protocol 12, Stellar had a built-in inflation mechanism conceived to allow account holders to collectively direct inflation-generated lumens toward projects built on Stellar.  As the network evolved and grew, it became increasingly clear that inflation wasn’t working as intended — account holders either didn’t set their inflation destination or joined inflation pools to claim the inflation themselves, and the operational costs associated with inflation payments continued to rise — and so a protocol change to disable inflation was proposed, implemented, voted on by validators, and ultimately adopted as part of a network upgrade. Jefferies Financial Group (JEF) CEO Rich Handler said that the bank was “defrauded” by the auto supplier First Brands Group, which went bankrupt in late September after its creditors opened probes amid concerns over potential financial irregularities.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/JEF">Shares of Jefferies</a> were up nearly 4% in afternoon trading. The stock had closed down 11% on Thursday.“So, I'll just say this is us personally, we believe we were defrauded, okay, from a company. Shares of regional banks fell on Thursday after Western Alliance (WAL) disclosed that a borrower failed to provide first-position collateral loans, triggering fraud concerns.

Eli Lilly and Company (LLY) on Friday stated that two years of adjuvant Verzenio plus endocrine therapy reduced the risk of death by 15.8% as compared to endocrine therapy alone in a late-stage trial in patients with a certain type of high-risk early breast cancer.According to the <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://investor.lilly.com/news-releases/news-release-details/lillys-verzenior-abemaciclib-prolonged-survival-hr-her2-high">firm</a>, Verzenio is the first contemporary therapy in over two decades to demonstrate a significant overall survival benefit in this type of breast cancer.Furthermore, treatment with Verzenio plus endocrine therapy led to a sustained reduction in risk of recurrence at seven years, Lilly said. The company noted that 32% fewer patients treated with Verzenio plus ET were living with metastatic disease compared to those receiving ET alone after seven years.“Continued long-term follow-up from this trial will help to determine whether this ongoing difference in patients alive with metastatic disease translates into further deepening of survival benefit with time,” the company said.The data is being submitted to health authorities worldwide, the company said. Eli Lilly Says Verzenio Reduced Risk of Death In Late-Stage Trial In Some Breast Cancer Patients

Boston Scientific Corporation (BSX) said on Friday that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire privately held medical technology company Nalu Medical for an upfront cash payment of approximately $533 million for equity not currently owned by the company.Nalu is developing minimally invasive solutions for patients with chronic pain, and Boston Scientific has been a strategic investor in the company since 2017.The transaction is <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/boston-scientific-announces-agreement-to-acquire-nalu-medical-inc-302587495.html">expected</a> to be completed in the first half of 2026, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
