Roche (RHHBY) on Monday stated that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the Elecsys pTau181 test developed in collaboration with Eli Lilly and Co. (LLY) for the detection of Alzheimer's disease.The blood-based test is aimed at aiding the initial assessment for Alzheimer’s disease and other causes of cognitive decline in the primary-care setting in patients aged 55 and older presenting with signs, symptoms, or complaints of cognitive decline. It measures the phosphorylated Tau (pTau) 181 protein in human plasma."By bringing Alzheimer's blood-based biomarker testing into primary care, we can help patients and their clinicians get answers sooner to support them earlier in their journeys," said Brad Moore, President and CEO of Roche Diagnostics North America.Roche also noted that Alzheimer’s biomarker testing has largely been limited to specialty settings, such as neurology.The performance of the test was evaluated in a clinical study with 312 participants. The results showed that in an early disease-stage, low-prevalence population reflective of a primary-care setting, Elecsys pTau181 could rule out Alzheimer’s pathology with a 97.9% negative predictive value. The new price target implies a potential upside of about 154% to the stock’s closing price on Monday.AnaptysBio <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://ir.anaptysbio.com/news-releases/news-release-details/anaptys-announces-intent-separate-biopharma-operations">stated </a>on Tuesday that its board of directors approved plans to explore separating its business into two independent, publicly traded companies. Upon completion of the split, the royalty management company will manage royalties and milestone payments from financial collaborations, including Jemperli with GSK and Imsidolimab with Vanda, with a focus on protecting and returning their value, the company said.The royalty management company is expected to require minimal infrastructure and staff, and will operate under a new name, it added.Meanwhile, the other company, referred to as Biopharma Co., will focus on biopharmaceutical operations, including the development and potential commercialization of innovative immunology therapeutics for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, such as Rosnilimab, ANB033, and ANB101. After the split, Biopharma Co. will launch with adequate capital to fund operations for at least two years and will also operate under a new name, the company stated.The separation is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Tirzepatide is the active ingredient in the company’s popular obesity drug Zepbound. Eli Lilly Terminates A Study Of Bimagrumab In Obesity

A U.S. registry of clinical trials shows that the study has been terminated for strategic business reasons.

Eli Lilly and Company (LLY) announced on Tuesday that it plans to construct a new $ 6.5 billion manufacturing facility in Texas as part of its efforts to expand domestic medicine production.The new facility, located at Generation Park in Houston, marks the second of four new U.S. sites that Lilly intends to announce this year.The company <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/lilly-plans-to-build-a-new-6-5-billion-facility-to-manufacture-active-pharmaceutical-ingredients-in-texas-302563621.html">stated</a> that the Houston facility will be operational within five years and will focus on manufacturing the company's pipeline of small molecule medicines across various therapeutic areas, including cardiometabolic health, oncology, immunology, and neuroscience. The company also said that the site will be among those that manufacture its much-awaited oral obesity drug Orforglipron. Eli Lilly Announces Plan To Construct New $6.5B Facility In Texas

The new facility, located at Generation Park in Houston, marks the second of four new U.S. sites that Lilly intends to announce this year.

Shares of Scholar Rock (SRRK) rose about 2% on Tuesday morning after falling 12% in the pre-market session after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration refused to approve its Apitegromab drug for the treatment of patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).The company <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://investors.scholarrock.com/news-releases/news-release-details/fda-issues-complete-response-letter-crl-apitegromab-treatment">stated</a> that the FDA raised concerns identified during a routine general site inspection of Catalent Indiana LLC, a third-party fill-finish facility. The agency did not make any observations specific to its drug or cite any other approvability concerns, including any pertaining to Apitegromab’s efficacy and safety data, the company said.Catalent Indiana was acquired by Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk (NVO) in December. The facility submitted a response in early August 2025 to address the observations noted by the FDA and has continued to take corrective actions, the company said.Scholar Rock said it will resubmit its application for Apitegromab once Catalent Indiana’s issues with the FDA are resolved. The company stated that it believes the FDA will be able to act expeditiously on the application once the manufacturing issues have been resolved. “We are continuing to work closely with Catalent Indiana on the FDA’s manufacturing observations so that we can resubmit the apitegromab BLA (application) as soon as possible,” said CEO David L Hallal.Scholar Rock has also submitted Apitegromab for approval by the European Medicines Agency, and a decision is anticipated near mid-2026, the company said. KalVista Pharmaceuticals (KALV) announced on Friday that the European Commission (EC) and the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products, Swissmedic, have approved its Ekterly for the symptomatic treatment of acute attacks of hereditary angioedema (HAE).Ekterly was approved by both agencies for the treatment of adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older with HAE. It is the first and only oral on-demand treatment for HAE in the two regions, the company <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://ir.kalvista.com/news-releases/news-release-details/kalvista-pharmaceuticals-announces-european-commission-and">said</a>.Shares of the company traded lower by 2% at the time of writing. The company expects to launch Ekterly in Germany in the fourth quarter and in Switzerland in the second half of 2026.The recent approvals are based on the results of a late-stage trial where Ekterly achieved significantly faster symptom relief, reduction in attack severity, and attack resolution than placebo. The results also showed that the drug was well-tolerated, with a safety profile similar to that of the placebo.The EC approval applies to all 27 EU member states as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway. In August, the European Medicines Agency also granted Ekterly 10 years of market exclusivity.Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare genetic disease caused by a deficiency or dysfunction of a protein called the C1 esterase inhibitor, where patients experience painful and debilitating attacks of tissue swelling in various locations of the body that can be life-threatening depending on the area affected. Uber Inks Partnership With Flytrex For Drone Delivery In US: Retail Sees Stock ‘Going Higher For Longer’

Shares of Roivant (ROIV) jumped 9% on Wednesday after the company, along with Priovant Therapeutics, announced positive results from a late-stage trial evaluating Brepocitinib in dermatomyositis.Dermatomyositis is a multi-organ idiopathic inflammatory condition that affects approximately 50,000 adults in the U.S. and is characterized by debilitating muscle weakness and skin lesions. It added that more than two-thirds of patients receiving the Brepocitinib 30 mg dose experienced at least a moderate response, with a TIS equal to or greater than 40, and nearly half experienced a major response, with a TIS equal to or exceeding 60.Furthermore, 42% of Brepocitinib 30 mg patients were able to discontinue steroids altogether, compared to 23% for the placebo, while 62% achieved a steroid dose of 2.5 mg or less per day.
