Ethereum is a global, open-source platform for decentralized applications. In other words, it is a decentralized blockchain platform that enables developers to build and deploy smart contracts and applications without central authority control. Unlike Bitcoin, which primarily functions as digital currency, Ethereum operates as a programmable global computer where developers can create any type of decentralized service.   The platform hosts over $14 billion in DeFi applications with hundreds of thousands of active users across financial protocols, NFT marketplaces, and gaming platforms. Its transition to Proof of Stake in September 2022 reduced energy consumption by over 99%, addressing environmental concerns while strengthening network security.  The network operates through thousands of independent validator nodes that process transactions and execute smart contracts on the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Smart contracts are self-executing programs written in Solidity that automatically carry out agreements when conditions are met, eliminating intermediaries like banks or brokers.   Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. The asset is increasingly adopted by traditional institutions, with publicly traded companies adding ETH to corporate treasuries to generate staking yields while maintaining blockchain exposure, and in 2024, the SEC approved spot Ethereum ETFs, allowing traditional investors to gain exposure through conventional brokerage accounts.  Ethereum's roadmap focuses on dramatically increasing transaction capacity to over 100,000 per second, reducing confirmation times, and enhancing decentralization while maintaining security against future threats like quantum computing.

At this point, stopping progress in AI would be equivalent to halting the U.S. economy,” David Sacks said in a post on X.&nbsp;</li><li>Sacks also said in his post that despite the significant numbers reported, the figures may still understate AI’s true economic impact.</li></ul><p>Artificial intelligence has become a core driver of economic growth in the U.S., and slowing or stopping its progress can have serious implications for the country, according to a member of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, David Sacks.</p><p>“Polls may show that AI is not popular, but economic growth is. At this point, stopping progress in AI would be equivalent to halting the U.S. economy,” the Former White House Crypto and AI Czar said in a <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/DavidSacks/status/2051004599633318390">post</a> on X on Sunday.</p><p>Last week, the Bureau of Economic Analysis released data that showed that the U.S. economy grew at a 2% annualized pace in the first quarter of 2026, rebounding from 0.5% in the prior quarter, boosted primarily by a large AI-driven increase in business investment.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">AI’s Impact On US GDP</h2><p>Sacks said in his post on X that AI-related capex has already been a significant tailwind to GDP, and is likely to be an even bigger contributor than anticipated.</p><p>“I’ve been saying for awhile that AI capex will be a 2% tailwind to GDP growth this year. In fact, according to a new report from Morgan Stanley, the numbers are even stronger — more like 2.5% this year and over 3% next year,” he said, resharing a post from German editor and market analyst Holger Zschaepitz.</p><p>Earlier on Sunday, Morgan Stanley significantly increased its capital expenditure forecast for major hyperscalers, projecting a combined capital expenditure of $805 billion from Amazon (AMZN), Alphabet (GOOG), Meta Platforms (META), Microsoft (MSFT) and Oracle (ORCL) for 2026. This is nearly double the levels anticipated for 2025 and about three times what was spent in 2024. For 2027, the analyst has lifted its forecast to $1.1 trillion.</p><p>Zschaepitz put that into perspective in his <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/Schuldensuehner/status/2050977149574692960">post</a>, noting that the projected 2026 spending by these five companies alone could rival the total capex of all non-tech firms in the S&amp;P 500 just a year earlier.</p><p>“In Q1, AI was already 75% of GDP growth. That trend is likely to continue. Technology leadership has always been America’s great strength, and it’s driving the economy forward,” Sacks said.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Is AI’s Influence Understated?</h2><p>Sacks also said in his post that despite the significant numbers reported, the figures may still understate AI’s true economic impact.</p><p>Firstly, the capex figures were only for the top five hyperscalers and “doesn’t include all the startups and other companies investing in AI,” he said.</p><p>Secondly, Sacks argued that capex only accounts for building the infrastructure, but not the other productivity gains. “Capex is the investment to create the token factories; it doesn’t count the economic activity resulting from what happens inside the token factories. Those tokens are now being used to generate code (bespoke software) that will increase productivity throughout the economy. The ROI on capex is likely to dwarf the capex itself, which is why investment continues to grow,” he said.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">AI ETFs Soar Past S&amp;P 500</h2><p>Even as investors remain skeptical of AI-driven capex spending and its sustainability, AI-focused exchange-traded funds have far outperformed broader benchmark indexes this year.</p><p>The <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/aiq">Global X Artificial Intelligence &amp; Technology ETF</a> (AIQ), which invests in both hardware- and software-linked AI plays, has gained more than 49% in the past year, and the <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/chat">Roundhill Generative AI &amp; Technology ETF</a> (CHAT), another fund that tracks AI companies, has rallied 110% over the same period. (VRT), which specializes in power and cooling systems for data centers and AI servers; Lumentum Holdings Inc. (LITE), which produces advanced optical components and lasers for high-speed AI data center networking; and Coherent Corp. (COHR), which focuses on photonics and silicon photonics for AI computing clusters.</p><p>The Kobeissi Letter, which provides industry-leading market commentary, noted in a <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/KobeissiLetter/status/2047492227035742429">post</a> on X that the record concentration comes even as investment-grade debt linked to AI is surging to record levels and called it a “shocking" statistic.<br>"Never before has a single theme dominated both U.S. equity and credit markets to this magnitude," The Kobeissi Letter said.</p><p><img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/Screenshot_2026_04_24_at_12_20_21_PM_png_1d187b0e58.webp" alt="Screenshot 2026-04-24 at 12.20.21 PM.png"></p><p>A record 15.4% of investment-grade debt is now tied to AI, making it the largest sector in the U.S. credit market, according to the commentator. This 45% thematic concentration represents a massive market risk," said Marko Kolanovic, former chief global market strategist at JPMorgan Chase, in a <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/markoinny/status/2047494636831228226">post</a> on X.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">AI ETFs Are Leaving S&amp;P 500 In The Dust</h2><p>The <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AIQ">Global X Artificial Intelligence &amp; Technology ETF</a> (AIQ), which invests in both hardware- and software-linked AI plays, has gained more than 47% over the past year, and the <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/chat">Roundhill Generative AI &amp; Technology ETF</a> (CHAT), another fund that tracks AI companies, surged 119% over the same period. Meanwhile, the <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/spy">SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF</a> (SPY), which tracks the S&amp;P 500 index, has risen 29.6% over the same period.</p><p>It should be noted, however, that AIQ's top two holdings are South Korean tech giants SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics, while CHAT's are Nvidia and Alphabet. Stocktwits sentiment for AIQ was last in the 'neutral' zone, while it was 'bullish' for CHAT.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Is There An AI Bubble Or Not?</h2><p>Many Wall Street analysts and investors have increasingly warned about a potential AI bubble. "The Big Short" investor Michael Burry has repeatedly cautioned that the current boom <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/michael-burry-ai-spending-big-tech-cashflow-warnings/cZRqQuiR4UJ">mirrors the dot-com era</a>, driven by unsustainable data center spending, rising leverage, and accounting risks that could mask underlying financial strain.&nbsp;</p><p>Meanwhile, Citrini Research outlined a <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/michael-burry-cites-interesting-thought-experiment-from-citrini-research-on-ai-says-and-you-think-im-bearish/cZRtvm2R4yk">more structural risk</a>, arguing that while AI may boost corporate margins in the near term, widespread job displacement and weakening consumer demand could ultimately trigger a negative economic feedback loop, leading to a broader market downturn.</p><p>Martin Varsavsky, Google-backed serial entrepreneur, noted late Thursday that a massive repricing was around the corner. "This is what bubbles look like when narrative outruns cash flow. (QUBT) Chairman and chief executive Yuping Huang told Stocktwits that the extent of vulnerabilities found by Anthropic’s Claude Mythos isn’t a surprise, but should spark “urgency” for the ecosystem to adopt quantum communication technology at a larger scale very soon.</p><p>"I don't think it revealed anything new,” Huang told Michele Steele in an&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://youtu.be/OKvhRnCfJdo?si=IPHjHAc4_ErEn2QH">exclusive interview</a> with Stocktwits. “We all know there are fundamental security issues with current encryption methods, especially under the attack of quantum computers.”</p><p><a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/QUBT">QUBT’s stock</a> rose over 18% in midday trade on Wednesday, on track to close at an over two-month high in a&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/default/5/rgti-ionq-qbts-qubt-xndu-stocks-surge-on-nvidia-quantum-push/cZJt1ijRIwK">four-day rally</a>. Retail sentiment around the company on Stocktwits jumped to ‘extremely bullish’ from ‘neutral’ over the past day, chatter rose to ‘extremely high’ from ‘high’ levels. Platform data showed a 321% increase in message volume in the last 24 hours.</p><blockquote><p>“I think over the past few years, we have certainly seen wonderful progress, but there is still a gap between the technology and wide adoption.”</p><p>– Dr.Yuping Huang, Chief Executive Officer And Chairman, Quantum Computing Inc.</p></blockquote><h2 class="st-heading-2">‘Urgent’ To Build A Larger Quantum Ecosystem</h2><p>Anthropic's Claude Mythos Preview said it found thousands of high-severity vulnerabilities in every major operating system and web browser. The Amazon (AMZN)-backed startup was so worried about the damage Mythos could cause that it refused to release it publicly until there are safeguards to control its most dangerous capabilities. Coinbase (COIN) and Binance (BNB) are&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/anthropic-mythos-triggers-scramble-among-coinbase-binance-report/cZJth2LRIw9">reportedly</a> in talks with Anthropic to prepare for Mythos’ launch.</p><p>According to Huang, Anthropic’s Mythos is a reminder that the existing ecosystem isn’t really that secure and an opportunity to build a “larger ecosystem” that goes beyond quantum computing companies. He said that partnerships across different sectors would allow for real world quantum-based network security technology applications.</p><p>“I believe that this offers us an opportunity to rethink what the timeline for wide adoption should be and what we should do now in order to address these critical challenges before they become huge problems that none of us can solve,” Huang stated. “I do feel the urgency that we need to start to adopt quantum communication technology at a larger scale very soon."&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">QUBT Sees Faster Roadmap Execution</h2><p>Huang said recent acquisitions, including Luminar Semiconductor and NuCrypt, have strengthened the company’s ability to execute on its roadmap.</p><p>While the overall strategy remains unchanged, he said the added capabilities could accelerate timelines. Huang expects increased adoption of the company’s quantum products and stronger revenue performance beginning in 2026, alongside the launch of new offerings.</p><p>“We will also see a few opportunities that we could not have pursued, now become a reality,” he told Stocktwits. “So I hope that we can have a couple of new products to come out at the end of 2026. It's going to be very interesting.”</p><p>Consensus estimates on Koyfin show the average price target on QUBT’s stock stands at $17.40, which represents a potential upside of 80% from current levels. Out of the five analysts covering the stock, three gave it a rating of ‘Buy’ while the other two recommended ‘Hold’. (NOK) shares soared nearly 9% in Monday’s opening trade after the company launched a new connectivity offering for enterprises, offering them a low-cost solution for use cases like artificial intelligence.</p><p>Nokia announced early access to a new connectivity solution developed in partnership with Ruckus Networks, combining the next-generation Wi-Fi 7 technology with a fiber-optic local area network (LAN).</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Nokia Touts 40% Energy Cost Savings</h2><p>Nokia stated that its new optical-wireless LAN solution can help enterprises reduce their energy costs by up to 40%, while trimming their cost of ownership by half.</p><p>The company also highlighted that, in combination with Ruckus Networks’ cloud and wireless products, the new solution can be used to meet a wide range of enterprise connectivity needs, including low-latency real-time applications such as AI, as well as mobility and Internet of Things (IoT) services.</p><p>Nokia stated that its Aurelis MF-2 optical switch and modems require significantly less space and power than traditional LAN solutions, making them ideal for in-campus connectivity requirements.</p><p>This solution is designed for telecom companies, cable operators, LAN, and managed service providers catering to a wide range of enterprises, the company added.</p><p>Nokia also announced that it has undertaken active trials with Tier-1 service providers across the North American and Asian markets.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">BofA Turns Bullish On Nokia</h2><p>Analysts at BofA turned bullish on Nokia, upgrading the company to ‘Buy’ from ‘Neutral’ on Monday, according to TheFly.</p><p>The firm stated that Nokia is transforming itself into an “optical powerhouse with a European advantage.” BofA also noted that, following Nokia’s leadership change in 2025 and its acquisition of Infinera, the company has multiple levers to capitalize on the growing momentum in the optical industry.</p><p>The firm hiked its price target for Nokia to $12.4 from $7.99, implying an upside of nearly 22% from current levels.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">AI Frenzy Drives Up Energy Costs</h2><p>The AI data center frenzy has driven up energy costs for households in the U.S.</p><p>Latest data from the Energy Information Administration shows that residential retail prices in the U.S. are up more than $0.17 per kilowatt-hour in January 2026, rising by nearly 10% year-on-year.</p><p>Last month, Tesla Inc. (TSLA) and Alphabet Inc.’s (GOOG, GOOGL) Google reportedly&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/tesla-google-join-hands-to-address-energy-affordability-utilize-coalition/cZdotGVRI77">joined</a> the Utilize coalition to address concerns of energy affordability.</p><p>According to a CNBC&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2026/02/12/electricity-price-data-center-ai-inflation-goldman.html">report</a> citing a Goldman Sachs note, electricity costs outpaced inflation in 2025.</p><p>Electricity prices soared 6.9% year-on-year in 2025, while headline inflation stood at 2.9% during the year, according to the report. The analysts stated that electricity costs are expected to rise through the decade, with data centers accounting for 40% of the overall growth in electricity demand.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">How Did Retail Traders React?</h2><p>Retail sentiment on Stocktwits around&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/NIO">Nokia</a> trended in the ‘extremely bullish’ territory with message volumes at ‘high’ levels.
